Pet bowls in dishwasher

do you put cat food/water bowls in the d/w?

We have a sensor cycle, which is most economic, also a hygiene cycle, which is super hot - think practically boiling. Loathe to use that one all the time. What do you do?

We use the dishwasher for the cat bowls here. I honestly cannot see the problem.

To the person that got all excited worked up about those that let their dogs clean their plates and asked if their guests know what they’re being served up on.... now I’ve finished laughing at you I just thought I’d reassure you that what those people meant was the dogs clean the plates off BEFORE they get properly washed! They don’t just let the dog clean them then put them away!

Yep, we are all still here.

Though I have just realised that we use a different fork to chop up their food so we don't use our forks which feels a bit ludicrous now I think of it

If I put anything eggy in the dishwasher, even on the hottest setting I can still smell egg on clean plates (I hate eggs) so I would assume there will be people who are weird like me who would smell them!

Yep, ours go in the dishwasher, it's on a 70c cycle, and I figured there are more germs in raw meat (including toxoplasmosis) than the fancy cat food our feline eats (sometimes it actually smells good, tonight's was full of prawns and mussels) , obviously scrape any bits off into the bin first, not that there's ever much left.

Dont care, the cat and dog both get fed scraps from our plates
Plus a dishwasher is hotter than hand washing, so cleaner if you ask me

Normal cycle.
My DH used to bring our DD to her CM pre-school. They'd have breakfast together and because their penis prevents many men from putting dishes into the dishwasher, he'd leave the bowls with the leftover milk from cereals on the table to clean up in the afternoon.
He had gone ballistic before when I put cat food on a plate and then washed it in the dishwasher. That was till he found out that our younger chubster would jump on the table and drink the leftover cereal milk and probably had been doing from the day she joined our family.
He overcame the penis obstruction since. Also, he doesn't have issues with pet bowls in the dishwasher anymore. The detergent will take care of it and it's not like they are harbouring Black Death in their mouths.
