To think that the idea that the Croydon Cat killer is actually a Fox is a load of b*ll**cks

^^just that really. I'm not buying this fox theory. Mutilated cats left on owners doorsteps...don't think even the most intelligent foxes could manage that.

AIBU to feel that either a) the police no longer have resources to spend on this or b) it is a tactic used to try and lull the perpetrator into a false sense of security?

@Helmetbymidnight’s post sums it up really. No doubt they found “knife wounds” on that cat too.

MaggieAndHopey · 23/09/2018 09:25

This thread is a perfect illustration of how conspiracy theories are born and propagated.

GinPink · 23/09/2018 09:36

@Potplant2 I posted a while ago to say someone I know had a cats tail potted like a plant in their front garden. The tail was put in a pot and soil patted around it so it stood up. How could that possibly be a car/fox combo?

LaDaronne · 23/09/2018 10:01

Thing is GinPink it's always "someone I know". Always second or third hand rumours that get embellished in the telling.

TheBananaStand2 · 23/09/2018 10:25

LaDaronne, that Twitter account is nuts! It doesn’t seem to be the actual Boudicca Rising’s, though - maybe a troll/ bot using her name and notoriety. She was at a Labour Party event, as a member of the Labour Animal Rights Group, earlier this year! And she and her team do amazing, selfless work for animals. If it is her, that’s devastating! Doesn’t ring true, though.

LaDaronne · 23/09/2018 10:49

Possible I guess BananaStand. I don't know either way, I'd never heard of her until yesterday morning. Not sure what a bot would have to gain from using her name, she's not extactly a household name. Personally, I think people who are clearly cranks often have several different axes to grind. Rings true to me.

Plentyoffishnets · 23/09/2018 11:14

rude zebra - I don't think there is a conspiracy per se just more that the police will no longer spend any resources on the case and they thought this would be a way to do that rather than saying to the public there is someone but we don't have the money any more to try to catch him

5bobaweek · 23/09/2018 11:33

The Police don't do that. If they genuinely believed there was a 'him' and that 'him' potentially poses a risk to the public, they keep going.

If there was a 'him', there'd be decent evidence to support that and they'd have been caught.

mumof2andsurviving · 23/09/2018 11:34

hard of thinking and stupid members of society.

Wow RudeZebra really loving up to your name.

Can't be that stupid considering the police have been investigating this, and it has happened before in other countries.

living up to, not loving. There is definitely no need to start calling people stupid just because they don't have the same opinion as you RudeZebra.*

helmet yes,it probably is, but it's mumsnet that's all! Nowt special love Wink

Whisky2014 · 23/09/2018 14:01

I think it makes sense it is foxes tbh. But once people have a theory there is a cat killer, they dont want to believe anything else.

Helmetbymidnight · 23/09/2018 14:28

Grin Brew

LoveMySituation · 23/09/2018 14:30

Watching with interest. It seems a long time to work on something then conclude there's nothing to conclude

Findingdotty · 23/09/2018 14:35

Nope. Have no problem with the idea at all. My OH is a driver and has sadly seen dead cats being carried in the mouths of larger foxes. Sad but true. One was just a day after aftershocks local resident had discovered her cat mutilatedand dead on her doorstep. So sad and shocked but very much a reality of the cycle of life.

Findingdotty · 23/09/2018 14:38

Blooming autocorrect.

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 23/09/2018 17:53

How long have the police been involved with this case?

To now suddenly declare it fox/rta issues..... did they have a newbie start who saw through it straightaway? How embarrassing

Airaforce · 23/09/2018 17:59

There was a cat which was mutilated not far from my house. It's head was cleanly severed from its body and placed on top of its owners car. The body was left on the doorstep, I find it hard to believe it was a fox.

BagelGoesWalking · 23/09/2018 18:36

There was seemingly pretty strong evidence that a human was involved for about 2 yrs or more (not sure of timeline) and now, all of a sudden, there isn't. So they were wrong for all that time?

That's what's confusing and (fairly) unbelievable to many people.

5bobaweek · 23/09/2018 18:51

I don't think there was strong evidence of human involvement. It was interpreted as strong at the time (with SNARL and media influence and pressure) which influences reactions. The more you look at something, the more you see. It doesn't mean it's valid.

The Chief pathologist of The Royal Veterinary College performed PMs on some suspicious cases already examined and found puncture (teeth) marks previously unrecognised, around 'clean cuts'.

They thought it might involve humans, they investigated extensively and found no evidence to support that, but evidence to support blunt force trauma and predation by other animals. Including CCTV evidence of a fox carrying the head of a cat into a school playground. Which was no doubt previously all over social media as the Psychopath escalating his behaviour and indicating a child would be harmed or something...

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 23/09/2018 19:26

I want to hear more about the poisoned chicken. As seemingly only one poster on here has heard about that.

LaDaronne · 23/09/2018 20:25

It seems strange to me that a serial killer would have both a unique calling card (Haribo bag) and an indiscriminate method and type of victim, including cats, rabbits and foxes.

5bobaweek · 24/09/2018 06:57

And having the equipment, time and sheltered space to drain them of blood apparently..and return to 'crime scenes' yet never be seen.

LaDaronne · 24/09/2018 08:27

I just can't get my head round bothering to go all the way to St Leonards to get your kicks from killing a rabbit when you could just grab another cat in Croydon.

anitagreen · 24/09/2018 08:41

If you follow them on there official page on Facebook or newsletters you will see posts about them being poisoned. There Facebook page is Snarl. All timelines have been posted
