To think that the idea that the Croydon Cat killer is actually a Fox is a load of b*ll**cks

^^just that really. I'm not buying this fox theory. Mutilated cats left on owners doorsteps...don't think even the most intelligent foxes could manage that.

AIBU to feel that either a) the police no longer have resources to spend on this or b) it is a tactic used to try and lull the perpetrator into a false sense of security?

Did you read the thread?

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 22/09/2018 22:12

Not all of it no, I've been at work and sat down ten minutes ago

I'm not reading over 300 posts ta

anitagreen · 22/09/2018 22:52

Snarl did say before that the killer was luring them with meat and using traps

How the fuck do they know that, given that the individual hasn't been caught?
When they did post mortems which is where the money is going majorly they had poisoned chicken inside them, and other meats I can't remember the exact figure maybe follow them and actually read there posts then you can educate yourself a little more.
And traps I'm guessing because no blood ha ever been found at a scene not even a drop.

anitagreen · 22/09/2018 22:54

lol it's not a theory these animals rabbits, cats, even foxes have all been post Mortimed to look inside for evidence and have poisoned meat inside them. I know them very well and I have followed them for years they are honest people who will you tell this themselves. The police are aware of the meat being contaminated too as I spoke to them when I found the second one.

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 22/09/2018 23:02

Contamination mated with which poison? And it kills them instantly?

cadburyegg · 22/09/2018 23:40

The same post mortems that didn’t show any evidence of human involvement?

Belina · 23/09/2018 00:29

When I read that thought it was bullshit as well. Every cat I owned which is 4 have had no issues with foxes and two of them had fox friends they use to play with.
It's rare a fox kills a cat they feed on mice and rubbish from humans

Belina · 23/09/2018 00:36

Ok so the psycho wont be getting attention anymore for killing cats so no doubt humans are next but they want to close the case.

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 23/09/2018 00:41

If he exists then he must feel pretty miffed at being passed off as 'just a fox'

So yes, stands to reason he would want his status back. But he's being dismissed, so I guess he will come up with something bigger to gain back his notoriety

Cats, more obviously or yes, humans

Potplant2 · 23/09/2018 06:46

Sigh again. For at least the third time in the last 50 posts or so, the theory isn’t that foxes are attacking and killing healthy cats (though posters on here have said that they are capable of doing so, and could certainly take down s weak or young cat).

The theory here is that the cats are BEING KILLED BY CARS THEN THEIR DEAD BODIES BEING SCAVENGED BY FOXES.

I could try putting it through google translate into different languages if that would help?

I’d also like to see a report from a reputable source saying that ‘poisoned meat’ had been found in the stomachs of the dead cats on post-mortem. Otherwise I’m adding it to the Haribo wrappers/knife injuries/display list of unsubstantiated rumours and hysteria.

LaDaronne · 23/09/2018 06:50

oh for god's sake belina read the thread. No-one has said foxes kill cats. As to why not during the day, well I'm no expert at fox behaviour but I'd hazard a guess that they hunt at night. And frankly I'd want to see who did Snarl's autopsies and the toxicology report before I believed them. The fact that the police haven't mentioned poisoned meat, which would be a pretty big clue, is suggesting to me that it's more gossip. The thread is absolutely full of anecdotes about what's happened to the poor bloody moggies, but very very short on actual reliable sources.

LaDaronne · 23/09/2018 06:52

crosspost potplant!

Can you hear yourselves? This isn’t a Netflix series for your amusement, it’s real life. There have been regular moral panics about supposed ‘Ripper killers’ of animals, or psychopaths serially mutilating them, almost all of which turn out to be unfounded. This isn’t even the first time the Met has had an operation looking for an alleged cat killer who turned out not to exist. This article from the Indrpendent lists some more (posted yesterday):

www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/croydon-cat-killer-foxes-real-culprit-met-police-mystery-solved-m25-snarl-boudicca-rising-animal-a8547586.html

But no, people would rather imagine this is an episode of CSI and salivate over who will be killed next than listen to the experts because, PSG, what do they know?

Potplant2 · 23/09/2018 06:54

PSG should read ‘pah’ No idea what happened there

Potplant2 · 23/09/2018 06:55

On why night time, not only do foxes hunt at night but so do cats, hence why they’re out there getting hit by cars at that time. And they’re harder for drivers to see in the dark.

LaDaronne · 23/09/2018 07:09

Boudicca Rising's Twitter handle is worth a look.

LenGoodmansPickledWalnuts · 23/09/2018 07:35

@LaDaronne is that the Snarl London one?

WhatIsThisTomfoolery · 23/09/2018 07:44

Urban foxes are seen scavenging/eating/ hunting in the day

Eating is a 24 hour thing for them. So they are saving cats as a nighttime snack then?

LaDaronne · 23/09/2018 07:53

No *LenGoodman", the one you find if you google Boudicca Rising Twitter, with a cat as a profile pic.

Potplant2 · 23/09/2018 08:16

Goodness yes, just looked at her Twitter. Retweeting far right, anti-Islamic and pro-racist stuff. Deep into various conspiracy rabbit holes.

Wonder how long it’ll be before she decides the cat killer is a Muslim?

Potplant2 · 23/09/2018 08:18

Of course they, like most animals, eat whenever they can. But that doesn’t change the fact that they and cats both mostly hunt at night. Plus s cat being killed by a cat in broad daylight would be much more likely to attract attention and somebody would most likely remove the corpse before foxes got to it.

Potplant2 · 23/09/2018 08:19

*killed by a car

Helmetbymidnight · 23/09/2018 08:34

Of course- much much more important to give your opinion.

Helmetbymidnight · 23/09/2018 08:39

I would have believed the psycho killer theory in my area too, if I’d just read about it on social media or the leaflets.

It’s really annoyed me that they haven’t spoken to dsis who discovered cat or that the warnings haven’t been amended to say: ‘ok we know this cat was already dead at 11pm and that it was mutilated some time later.’ They clearly don’t want people to know this- and that makes me suspicious of them.

RudeZebra · 23/09/2018 09:05

As always, the problems with issues like this (see also canal pushers/chalk marks on properties) is that it really appeals to the hard of thinking and stupid members of society.

People believe what they want to believe and enjoy nothing better than a good conspiracy. No amount of critical examination will ever take place. Combine this with social media which allows you to reach out to other fellow idiots, and you have the perfect storm.

With this case in particular, what do the authorities have to gain by closing the case and lieing to the public? Surely thats the first thing anyone proves when they believe there's a conspiracy?
