There must be someone out there so has heard of it or has been?
It's a new attraction in Brentwood Essex, a 4D horror experience.
There is a room 13 thay apparently.is so scary that they don't believe anyone could stand it and therr is a 2 page waiver to sign before entering.

Anyone know what happens in room 13 ?

I recently went to room 13. And im telling you this because i feel people need to know what goes on there and i cant actually believe what happened to me was totally legal.
The 1st 12 rooms ended up being around 5 rooms and its a really good experience if you want a horror film experience. But they are aloud to touch you at any time and put a bag kver your head and take you else where with in that room e.g the maze and you have to find your own way back.

But the room 13 is a total different level. Me and my brother in law went and thought it couldn't be that bad. We waited for our turn and a bag was put over our head was told to face a wall. And we entered room 13 one by one i was place in a chair and forced feed live mill worms then locked a cupboard for around 15 minutes and i was so wrong in thinking it couldn't get any worse.. I was released from my cupboard and told k was in for a refreshment... I was dragged by my beard enough to inflict pain and was brought to a seperate room filled with shower cubicles with some one being water boarded in each one. And its intense every time i managed to catch my breath i was being water boarded again being sick from lack of oxygen whilst being water boarded at the same time wasnt pleasant that part lasted around an hour... I was then taken to a chair with two other people sitting next to me with the one on the end having electric shock therapy on the neck and forehead.. I waited for my go.. but when it happened i didn't have one torturer i had 3 one holding me down one applying pressure to electric pads to inflict more pain and one controlling the device to electrify me.. And it hurts alot i mean i still have pain on my neck now because of it and fore head my throat is still roar from screaming from the amount of pain they inflicted and had no chance to say the safe word as they just kept doing it with short stops and every time the pain got more intense.. they let me rest for around 10 minutes before one led me to a small room and ordered me to drop my trouser because he was going to put the electric pads on my testicles.. I told him to do one and i was out of there.. the last one was a trick and if i dropped my trouser he wouldn't had done it and I would have been a room13 surviver. But i was thinking any was possible at the point from what they put me through.

Hope this helps..
do not let your kids do room 13!! because on the waiver it said if you are under the age of 18 your parents must sign the waiver..

Two days later (today) I am still feeling the effects physically and mentally

MarthasGinYard · 22/10/2018 04:55

Blimey

That sounds horrific

LarryFreakinStylinson · 22/10/2018 05:12

Crumbs!

Blarneybear · 22/10/2018 05:37
Shock
Guavaf1sh · 22/10/2018 05:40

Well that sounds less than cheery. I feel cold just reading that. I just don’t see why anyone normal would want that in any way

WhiteDust · 22/10/2018 05:52

Play acting torture for entertainment?
No thank you.
Sick on so many levels.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 22/10/2018 06:02

WTAF! That sounds horrendous! I've been to a few interactive horror experiences but they were just creepy and funny, not really scary. Although being chased around a lake in the dark by an axe wielding Annabelle doll was an experience, especially when my friend's husband sprinted past me like Usain Bolt and I nearly fell in the bloody lake I was laughing so hard. Grin But that was fun, this isn't fun at all! I can't believe its legal either.

Redrosebelle · 22/10/2018 06:04

Jesus Shock

Underpressureidiot · 22/10/2018 06:07

How is that legal? I know people sign wavers but I don’t understand how they can legally torture people with real waterbording etc and face no repercussions, especially as they don’t TELL people before the waver

Bezalelle · 22/10/2018 06:13

Waterboarding?

This needs to be investigated.

What sort of society have we become??

Chelseajunior · 22/10/2018 06:34

Wow.
No way would I enter that room!

Scrumplestiltskin · 22/10/2018 06:37

In terms of legality, it's extremely dubious that what they're doing is legal. At very best, they operate in a legal grey area, but are definitely leaving themselves open to criminal prosecution for assault.
Especially in the case of 16 and 17 year olds - can you imagine a 16 year old girl talking her parents into signing the form, and then forgetting the safeword??
What goes on is clearly at least somewhat sexual and physical, and definitely involves torture, so R v Brown might apply.
In 1994, the House of Lords in the United Kingdom made a landmark majority decision in R v Brown that was subsequently reviewed and affirmed by the European Court of Human Rights. In this case, a group of homosexual men were convicted under sections 47 and 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861 for engaging in sadomasochistic acts, some of which were filmed. None of the participants reported the acts to the police and the acts were conducted with the apparent consent of the participants. In this case, those who acted out violently on the consenting victims were held guilty and consent was not considered a defense.
newjurist.com/bdsm-torture-porn-and-the-law.html
Consent does not make assault legal.

This review also makes it very clear that Room 13 is basically an exercise in assault-
It's sad to end this review on such a negative note but Room 13 really lets down the rest of the main event. If you are going to House of Horror - please go and experience the main show but leave and don't go into Room 13*
*If we hear that things have changed in Room 13 following feedback on press night and it becomes less physical, then we may change this opinion.

Thins is horrendous and appears to be on dodgy ground on so many levels.

What would happen if say someone went through the experience of the previous poster. Let's assume that person was a very big, very strong guy, maybe a professional fighter as a sport hobby. What happens if that person completely flips their lid inside and goes beserk, attacks his attackers.

What then? Or someone with a very short fuse and masses of adrenaline does the same?

It really is an accident waiting to happen.

qate · 22/10/2018 07:16

There's quite a bit of detail on the Facebook page with reviews and photos of what people have gone through in Room 13 - frankly sounds vile! Waterboarding, electric shocks - some of the photos showing red and raw necks are horrendous - what on earth........?!

Saymaname · 22/10/2018 07:21

Yea we’re going this week, loads of info on their Facebook page. Will not be doing Room 13 personally.

ReggieKrayDoYouKnowMyName · 22/10/2018 07:29

A friend of a friend did Room 13 and that all sounds in keeping with what she went through. I can’t believe a) this is happening and b) people are paying to do it.

Bezalelle · 22/10/2018 08:18

Makes you wonder about the "actors" who work in Room 13.

Scrumplestiltskin · 22/10/2018 08:24

EdisonLightBulb yeah that's almost an even bigger issue - what if the participant freaked out, got violent, and managed to inflict serious harm on someone before they were stopped? I wouldn't feel bad for the actors (sadists the lot of them, clearly,) but the repercussions for the participant would be awful.

RuggerHug · 22/10/2018 09:02

Edison nowhere near as extreme as this one but I did a similar experience thing years ago. I knew they were actors, I knew it was a 'game' but at one point when I got grabbed I automatically yelped, spun and punched the person full force in the face. As soon as I saw them flying back smacking into the wall my brain kicked in and I was trying to help them asking if they were ok and everything, I didn't mean to and all that.

They got taken off to ice themselves (they were very lovely to me and saying it was ok but I felt horrible) and I was asked if I wanted to continue or if I felt I may lash out again would I prefer to leave with a refund. I took the refund and left.

But I'm a short arse who although kinda strong at the time didn't look it so it was like scrappy doo. If it WAS someone who could do damage I'd wonder if the staff are just told 'well you signed up to work here, deal with it'.

Laiste · 22/10/2018 10:39

DH accidentaly hit an actor in the face at a Fright Night event. They're the good fun ones where you 'just' get chased by texas chain saw guy around a few bales of hay, and then go into a horror mental hospital maze thing. Dry ice and flashing strobes but you can't actually go the wrong way.

It's a laugh and you know you're not in danger but the adrenaline does flow. The last event was a zombie house. Shuffling through that in the dark and a guy in full zombie gear jumped out in front of DH and he just hit out as a natural instinct on being made jump when already wound up tight. He was horrified and apologised and the zombie said it's ok and then went straight back into character. I guess they have to expect it to an extent.

bevelino · 22/10/2018 10:39

I assume for the waiver to have any effect participants are given a briefing before going into the rooms. In these circumstances the wording of a waiver will effectively say you fully understand the activity is dangerous and that you wish to participate in the activities knowing they are dangerous.

Furthermore, that you accept and assume all the risks of damage and injury (including death) to yourself and your property. In exchange for being permitted to participate you then agree not to make or bring any claim of any kind against the organisers, owners etc. There is more to a legal waiver but that is basically it.

However, I have seen legal waivers challenged in Court where injured participants have proven that they did not know how dangerous the activity was because the explanation they were given by the organisers was completely inadequate.

Laiste · 22/10/2018 10:41

DH is tall and strong and imagine the zombie felt that hit. They must get told they risk a clout at some point in a 5 night event.

Laiste · 22/10/2018 10:42

that was in response to If it WAS someone who could do damage I'd wonder if the staff are just told 'well you signed up to work here, deal with it'.
