There must be someone out there so has heard of it or has been?
It's a new attraction in Brentwood Essex, a 4D horror experience.
There is a room 13 thay apparently.is so scary that they don't believe anyone could stand it and therr is a 2 page waiver to sign before entering.

Anyone know what happens in room 13 ?

The 'Exorcist room' and the 'Meat Fridge' look pretty similar to the Passage of Terror in Blackpool, which had an Exorcist girl whose head spins round and a meat fridge where you're chased by a man with a chainsaw. I went in that when I was a child.

LagerthaTheShieldMaiden · 21/09/2018 08:09

I thought that about the 'meat room' too, RandomObject. I went in the one in Blackpool about 20 years ago and found it terrifying. My ex-husband got thrown against the wall by the man who comes running out of the cage, so it wasn't all bad 😂

deptfordgirl · 21/09/2018 08:17

Sounds horrific, but then I can't even watch horror films. I think it opens next week until Halloween so the reviews are all from media representatives and bloggers. I've read a few reviews and they all seem to say - don't go into room 13- they must know anyone who chooses to go will choose to go into the room so I think it's either in the waiver to say that or they've just been told to build the hype about it. I read one review which said they had live animals and creepy crawlies in room 13 and also extreme and personal abuse. They just push and push until you're forced to say the safe word.

LittleLionMansMummy · 21/09/2018 09:21

Part really clever marketing, part genuinely horrific I'm sure. 100% not for me.

Room 13 is probably like the final 'kidnapped and held captive' stage of SAS training I should think. There's a reason only a few people pass and I am happy to accept that our minds work in very mysterious, sometimes dangerous ways without feeling the need to actually prove it. My mind runs away from me on ghost trains (What happens if that actor really is a murderous psychopath?)

MarthasGinYard · 21/09/2018 09:22

Blimey just been reading about that Mackamey manor Shock

And then a link to 'Blackout'

Need a cuppa

SinkGirl · 21/09/2018 10:09

Yes. I went down the same internet rabbit hole last night.

Quite a few of them involve “simulated sexual assault”, which is basically just sexual assault that you’re paying for. It’s absolute madness.

Womaningreen · 21/09/2018 10:12

they have live animals? that concerns me.

other than that, I think if people want to do this stuff....I mean it's bizarre, but I'd just let them get on with it really.

HeywitchDoctor · 21/09/2018 11:13

without reveling too many details as i said my bil is involved in this attraction. i can confirm it is in the waiver that you cannot talk about ur experience and its true every experiance is different. The use of live animal is true but its bugs ect... you are also made to eat and drink unpleasantly things aswell.

HeywitchDoctor · 21/09/2018 11:14

if you complete the room 13 you can buy a video of the experience and also get pics took in a horror booth.. this is only avalible yo those who complete the room. it is strongly advised that you do not go into room 13 and even my brother in law has said do not go to it and do not enter room 13.

MarthasGinYard · 21/09/2018 12:02

'Yes. I went down the same internet rabbit hole last night.'

It's blinkin addictive

It could soon be my mastermind spec subject

Joannaj03 · 23/09/2018 20:45

Can you confirm that there is nothing as extreme as water boarding ? These guys are actors and not military trained so surely not trained in extreme torture like that?

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 24/09/2018 13:08

I don’t understand how what’s rumoured in Room 13 can happen? Confused Surely if you just refused to, say, eat or drink the unpleasant things, whatever that is, they can’t force you? They can’t cut you or hit you, no matter what it might say in the waiver. I can’t see that standing up in court if someone got hurt, anyone know if it would? Say someone was choked/punched/slapped/force fed/water boarded, would a waiver which doesn’t detail exactly what will happen be enforceable? I don’t get it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/09/2018 13:53

ChiefClerk upthread I used the analogy of the Chippendales, remembering a group I once worked with who were going to see them. Apparently a cape featured in one guy's act and whole tea breaks were given over to shrieking and giggling over "what they might see"

In fact they saw very little, but at least they enjoyed the feverish imaginings ... which I suspect is much the case here

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 24/09/2018 14:06

@Puzzled very possible. It’s all a bit odd, there’s no way actual physical torture could go on, whatever the waiver says, surely? That’s just asking for a law suit Confused

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/09/2018 14:12

there’s no way actual physical torture could go on, whatever the waiver says, surely?

I wouldn't have thought so, no

Let's just be glad this isn't the US, though. Admittedly we're not quite as litigious (yet!!) but I'm reminded of the family who tried to sue Disney because their DC couldn't cope with seeing a character minus his costume head

Imagine what they'd make of this ... Wink

Harleypuppy · 24/09/2018 14:25

They're obviously paying my mum to act out the growing up experience I had. Except it's real and you worry she'll kill you while you're sleeping!!!

I don't know how it could be that frightening because you know it isn't real. My childhood was truly scary as I really thought she might kill me. Maybe if you've experienced real fear like that, this wouldn't be scary at all.

blueshoes · 24/09/2018 16:01

Legally it is difficult to give informed consent if you are not told what you are asked to consent to. Cannot see how the waiver would stand up in court. This company is skating on thin legal ice if anyone got hurt or permanently scarred.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 24/09/2018 16:09

I'm really sorry Harley Flowers

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 24/09/2018 17:45

A friend of mine is involved in this. All I can say is there is not a chance I'd even consider it!

TopBitchoftheWitches · 24/09/2018 17:48

Why can't you say more? If you are not personally involved and haven't signed anything then surely you can spill? Grin

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 24/09/2018 21:43

@Sugar why? Surely they cannot be physically torturing people, sexually assaulting them or forcing them to eat/drink things they don’t want to? As blueshoes says I can’t see how the waiver could stand up legally as there’s no informed consent. If it did stand up then theoretically they could be enacting out the Toy Box Killer level of shit (don’t google if you’ve a weak stomach) and there’s no way a waiver could cover that

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 24/09/2018 22:20

I haven't done it, there's no way I would. The point of these type of 'attractions' is the fear of what may happen. Why would anybody want to tell prospective customers what to expect? I don't know exactly what room 13 involves but it won't be the same for everyone. I'm a complete lightweight and freaked out in a childrens scare maze last year though 😆

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 24/09/2018 22:23

I’m definitely not a prospective customer so you can tell me Grin So what did your friend say? Is it all that bad? Or as others have said is it all fur coat no knickers? They surely can’t be physically harming people or force feeding them, or waterboarding them, or hanging them. So that’s so bad?

Bunnybigears · 24/09/2018 22:40

No way would you get me anywhere near that place. I get scared on a ghost train.
