Just a bit of fun..

I am not on FB, DH is. People we know regularly go out for meals and drinks. They always post their meal with some comment about their evening.

Don't get me wrong - I am not criticising - in fact DH and me find this highly amusing. It gives us a good laugh because we just don't get it. Why would anyone be interested in what you have for dinner lol?

Do you ever post your meal on FB when you are out for food and drinks? Genuinely interested - either that or we have odd friends :) :)

Why do you keep putting a pa smiley face after you say 'yes it's ok but not if it's...'

Tbh you sound smug and judgemental and your 'friends' would probably be better off unfriending you.

puzzledlady · 16/09/2018 20:49

But it’s not a little bit of fun though, not for them..... for those posting, maybe they are really into food and want others to see what they’re having. Your laughing at them. Shouldn’t really. Confused would you ever ask these friends why they do what they do? If not, why not?

Branleuse · 16/09/2018 20:49

not usually, but I have done it in the past if its really nice and a special occasion.

mrpoopybutthole · 16/09/2018 20:50

I do but if it's a nice meal out (which has been presented really well) or if I've made something special. I like looking at others food pics (if they've gone to a local restaurant, so for recommendations or if they've made something impressive). An example, recently a friend took a pic & checked in a local restaurant. I'd been thinking of trying this restaurant, so seeing her pic, asked how it was. She said it was really good, so I went that week, like it & posted a pic. A friend asked how it was etc. It's a bit like a more personal Trip Advisor.
I don't really get the basic fry up/burger pics though.

Marie0 · 16/09/2018 20:51

Eliza9917 I always put smiley faces on everything - just something I do - hand write them in work on post its as well - most people like my smiley faces :)

not aware of saying 'yes it's ok but not if it's' - maybe you have taken this out of context? - I was under the impression it was polite to respond to posters who have posted on a thread I have started

Not judgemental or smug just having a bit of fun. May be you take things a bit too seriously?

By the way do you post your tea on facebook? :) :)

mumof2sarah · 16/09/2018 20:52

It's not something I do but it doesn't bother me that others do it. I just think it's their social media, they may post it as a reminder and a memory online of what they've done or ate. I always get hungry though ha ha! Each to their own xx

Marie0 · 16/09/2018 20:53

Oh dear - I think this may be time to stop talking about posting pics of food on FB.

I misjudged how important this is to some people. My apologies.

Eliza9917 · 16/09/2018 20:55

Yes I do if I've made something new or it looks extra nice.

I also used to do it for accountability, along with checking in at the gym.

:)

Eliza9917 · 16/09/2018 20:56

Although I don't post 'tea', I post my dinner though.

:)

mumof2sarah · 16/09/2018 20:57

@Marie0 it's not important to me and I didn't mean to make it seem like you can't post something that you do find weird. I was just stating my opinion on the matter. Honestly I have other things that annoy me just not the food thing lol. Don't ever feel like you can't have an opinion that's what's these forums are for my lovely x

Marie0 · 16/09/2018 20:58

Yay Eliza love the smileys - now tell me you don't feel better!!!

:) :) :)

Not really, I just ate my dinner and I wish I'd taken a picture to post on this thread lololol.

I'll post an old one. This is a ploughman's that surprised me at how nice it was, it was from a garden centre restaurant I went to at lunchtime last week.

:)

Marie0 · 16/09/2018 21:04

See now that is a nice pic I do enjoy a ploughman's :)

much more interesting than pizza or fish and chips!

I don't really do this but I'm happy to see photos that friends and family post. I love food Grin

Eliza9917 · 16/09/2018 21:08

It was very very nice, came with three big chunks of bread each too, and enough butter paks for them.

Figgygal · 16/09/2018 21:09

I have a fb friend who's more of a friend of a friend really but she posts every meal out and every drink she has out - weekly occurrences

I feel like I'm there with her it's so persistent I don't understand how she actually enjoys any of it

It's weird

donajimena · 16/09/2018 21:14

I made a curry in a pyrex casserole dish. I took it out of the oven and rested it on the hob only for it to slide off as if it were pushed by a poltergeist. The resulting Pollock like curry on the floor and smashed glass were posted to Facebook. Other than that no... Grin

YouBetterWORK · 16/09/2018 21:17

I once posted a picture of a cocktail as it was garnished with a Frazzle, but food? Nope.

Elephantinacravat · 16/09/2018 21:18

I have wanted to in the past, but I just couldn't bring myself to actually do it!

Echobelly · 16/09/2018 21:21

I almost never do - it has to be pretty unusual or spectacular for me to bother. I don't mind seeing other people's food posts but it can be overdone. Maybe it's not such a big deal for me as I'm not on Instagram or Snapchat.

foxessocks · 16/09/2018 21:28

Ok missing point of thread but Eliza what garden centre?! A chain one that I might be able to visit? hope so

Eliza9917 · 16/09/2018 21:32

No, it was Taddy's Barn in Kingsgate (Broadstairs/Ramsgate) in Thanet.

cardibach · 16/09/2018 21:34

Literally never. I think most food looks gross
Really Sweaty? I find that more concerning than someone posting their meal, tbh. It doesn’t suggest a very healthy relationship with food.

AdoreTheBeach · 16/09/2018 21:36

Only occasionally when I’ve been to an amazing restaurant and I want to share with my friends (and for me to remember). I’ve done this maybe 5 times in last 10 years or so.

Passmethecrisps · 16/09/2018 21:36

Well. I don’t but my dh is a fan. If we go for a terribly fancy meal then I have no issues and similarly if someone on my friend list goes for an awfully posh meal then I like a wee look.

Pie and chips with frozen veg with a dollop of tommy K was one of today’s gastronomic Facebook delights (not us - a friend) and I did wonder why on Earth you would do that.

I am intrigued by the cocktail garnished with a frazzle. Love a frazzle. I saw a picture of cocktails recently which I was sure were garnished with cottage cheese. Apparently it was meringue
