to ask if you post a pic of your meal on FaceBook when you are out?

Just a bit of fun..

I am not on FB, DH is. People we know regularly go out for meals and drinks. They always post their meal with some comment about their evening.

Don't get me wrong - I am not criticising - in fact DH and me find this highly amusing. It gives us a good laugh because we just don't get it. Why would anyone be interested in what you have for dinner lol?

Do you ever post your meal on FB when you are out for food and drinks? Genuinely interested - either that or we have odd friends :) :)

I used to, back in the old days before camera phones.

It was because I had a lot of friends in the food industry and when we'd go to starred or interesting restaurants we'd take pics and upload them to show each other. I know it looked odd back then on a way it doesn't so much now, but it was an industry thing rather than a boasting thing.

Helipad · 16/09/2018 19:57

9amtrain it is totally gross! I just don’t understand people anymore.

SpoonBlender · 16/09/2018 19:57

Never facehook, no. I will occasionally instagram something spectactular.

Gottagetmoving · 16/09/2018 19:57

I don't think anyone would be interested in what I'm going to eat and I couldn't give a shiny shit what anyone else is going to eat..so no.
Besides, I don't get my phone out of my bag if I'm out for a meal because....it's rude IMO

MaryShelley1818 · 16/09/2018 19:57

I love posting food piccies - especially if we’re on holiday or eating nice afternoon tea or posh cakes!
I like seeing other people’s food pics too - and holiday piccies, kids/pets/nights out/hearing good news etc
My friends make me happy in general though :)

GrumpyOldMare · 16/09/2018 20:01

No,why would I? I see people on my Farcebook doing it,I just scroll on by as I have no interest in seeing their meals,so why would they be interested in mine?

shaggedthruahedgebackwards · 16/09/2018 20:02

Yes I'm sure she must be an amazing cook and can understand the occasional dinner description but it is several times a week!

GoodbyeSummer · 16/09/2018 20:04

I have done before, yes. I don't make a habit of it but if it's something I've made myself from scratch, like the hazelnut cheesecake made using the nuts we grew in our garden, or if it's a special meal out like our anniversary meal last year then I do. Not just the food but us as well, about to tuck in to said food, and definitely not the mucky plates left behind after eating it. Tbh I don't really see a problem with it but then again I post pictures of lots of things I do/see/places I've been and they generally get a good reception. I don't think I'm annoying though because I only post every week or ten days or something rather than multiple times a day and I only have actual friends on there or people who share my interests (photography).

LifeEhFindsAWay · 16/09/2018 20:05

I do it. It doesn't make me sad or crazy, it makes me a different person to you Wink

SerenDippitty · 16/09/2018 20:11

Only if it was a special afternoon tea.

SweatyFretty · 16/09/2018 20:15

Literally never. I think most food looks gross.

Marie0 · 16/09/2018 20:21

LifeEh

But I bet your dinner looks a lot more interesting than a chicken madras :)

Gincompetent · 16/09/2018 20:21

I've posted photos of a couple of particularly nice afternoon tea cake stands, but because they were a bit kitsch or quirky in some way. I tagged the places on Facebook too, as a review of sorts.

I have friends who post about everything they eat. Even normal (boring - for social media anyway) Sunday dinners, Toasties and coffee and muffins!

I don't get it at all! Confused

HildaZelda · 16/09/2018 20:22

No. Not unless it's something really amazing or out of the ordinary. I did post an entire dressed lobster from a Michelin starred restaurant once, but only because I knew that it was something I was unlikely to ever be having again.

Oysterbabe · 16/09/2018 20:23

I don't, unless it was particularly noteworthy. I do enjoy seeing them though, not really sure why.

Gincompetent · 16/09/2018 20:24

@SerenDippitty

A MNer after my own heart 🎂🍰🍮☕️🥂

puzzledlady · 16/09/2018 20:25

I don’t know - it feels like you’re sitting back and laughing and these friends of yours. I mean - if they’re not hurting anyone I don’t see the issue? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I bake. A lot. I post these pictures up all the time - would that make you judge me and laugh at me too?

It’s not for everyone I suppose - but I don’t think it’s anything to give two thoughts about. Different strokes.

TooManyPaws · 16/09/2018 20:28

Only if it's something amazingly special or a cake I'm proud of - just like I post my finished needlework that I'm proud of.

Marie0 · 16/09/2018 20:29

puzzle - iIt's not an issue, it's just a bit of fun :)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 16/09/2018 20:32

No. I post stuff I've cooked, but nothing that's been cooked by someone else...

FlamingOh · 16/09/2018 20:32

I would if it’s extraordinary-
When I was in my early twenties I put a picture on of my tea at a reasturant because it had loads of edible flowers on.
Also DH baked a loaf, made butter and served Camembert (which I had never had) and then presented it on a heart shaped chopping board that he’d made himself, he put it on the table next to a bunch of roses- it looked incredible- I think that one ended on instagram. I also have a picture of my DSis and her giant burger. It was kinder than her head

Marie0 · 16/09/2018 20:37

Yes it is interesting if it's something either spectacular that you've ordered at a nice restaurant - or something that you've made yourself.

Just not interesting if it's steak and chips at local Harvester :)

TroysMammy · 16/09/2018 20:38

I also don't get photos on FB of a glass or bottle of booze. One person frequently does that. I'm not impressed as I just think "you've got a problem".

greendale17 · 16/09/2018 20:41

I love food so am interested when people post foodie pics.

Skarossinkplungerridesagain · 16/09/2018 20:43

I'm really into food and cooking so if I have an amazing or interesting meal then yes, I do. It's more a lazy way of remembering where and when I ate whatever.
