It is a bit odd. But I think the 'shamelessly placemarking' post is because the poster thinks there's a chance the thread will be deleted TBH.

HouseworkIsASin10 · 15/09/2018 20:44

Agree. Makes me cringe.

AgathaRaisinDetra · 15/09/2018 20:47

Placemarking for the deletion message.

TheBeatGoesOnandOn · 15/09/2018 20:48

It's ok if someone wants to hear all the funny stories at McDonalds or makeup suggestions. But if it's a sensitive topic or someone's world is falling apart I find it tactless.

ButchyRestingFace · 15/09/2018 20:49

I find the '.' more irritating. It can be really Hmm when the thread is about a serious/sensitive issue and some fucker comes along with absolutely zilch to contribute beyond '.'

Tasteless as all fuck.

BettyCrook · 15/09/2018 20:49

It wasn't on some fantastically juicy odd weird trolling OP its sometimes on random non controversial things like best jeans for pears or quick and easy work lunches.................

AdoreTheBeach · 15/09/2018 21:03

I wish I did it because threads I’d like to go back to read or follow when I have more time, I often can’t find again. This is even when trying to use the search function too. Yabu

I find the use of a dot as place marking infuriating. At least if posters typed 'following your soap opera of a life' they'd have put some effort in.

leighdinglady · 15/09/2018 21:12

You've got it completely wrong. You don't placemark to save a thread, it's so you can scroll past all the comments you've read already and easily find your 'place' (see) to read on from

ilovesooty · 15/09/2018 21:14

Just putting a full stop is fucking rude.

LucyMorningStar · 15/09/2018 21:19

Leighding, there's a bookmark function for exactly that!

leighdinglady · 15/09/2018 21:22

lucy you've blown my mind and changed my life Grin

We can leg it together - race you !

HoleyCoMoley · 15/09/2018 21:28

Apologies, I've been doing this. If someone asks a question about something I go and look it up for them, I don't want the thread to disappear while I do this so put a full stop in so I am still in the conversation. Blush what's the bookmark?
