Can someone please tell me why shows like big brother and other shows pretty my always have a trans person on them
They represent 0.1 of the population

But you rarely see any disabled or even Chinese people who make up a larger percent of the population

The have two mixed raced people
And one trans in the big brother house

Their are no black
Disabled or Asian
No one from Northern Ireland
No one from any of the islands jersey ect

I agree with other posters.
Reality shows choose people who will kick off quickly and provide "entertainment".,
Often opinionated, plastic, false, not very intelligent individuals who I would not want to spend any length of time with.
Intelligent, rational, unmodified people don't usually provide great throw away entertainment of the same variety that can be mocked.

Racecardriver · 15/09/2018 21:17

Because its fashionable to be trans?

SpicedApplesAndRaspberries · 15/09/2018 21:21
Hmm
Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 15/09/2018 21:24

Shows like that look for outrageous, outspoken people who are entertaining or irritating to watch, people who you aren't likely to forget. They have to stand out. It's not typical of day to day life.

Maybe because more 'Asian, Black or Disabled people ' simply have more self respected than to parade themselves on such an utter pile of shite.

It's interesting how the one/two/three people of a minority on tv shows are said to be 'over-represented' yet the white/straight people who make up 90%+ of every tv show are never mentioned... hmm

Sorry, I don’t mean to suggest that there shouldn’t be more diversity on TV. The OP however Originally asked why so many trans people end up on shows like Big Brother when they only make up 0.1% of the population, so where I said that they are ‘over-represented’ I meant in comparison to how many people of that minority might make up the general population. I certainly didn’t mean that there should be less representation of minorities on TV and I agree that straight, able-bodied white people are hugely over represented on TV in general. I was meaning to point out that different reality shows will appeal to different demographics in terms of applications and that few shows have a cast whose diversity perfectly represents the general population but I appreciate my wording was clumsy.

Because disabled people and Asians don't kick up a fuss and Harris's people if they are not included.

Oh shut up @TheBeatGoesOnandOn and fug off
