Here's a way to scare yourself.

Get a magnifying mirror and look at your chin as you shine a torch on it.

Scary

Oh my god. My people! I could actually cry.

I don't have PCOS but have always been very hairy and now,at 35 and after having a child, I have course hairs sprouting from my fingers, toes, nipples (along with a lustrous coating of fine, downy hair all over my boobs), stomach, bum crack (sorry!) and down my inner thighs. Luckily I have no 'tache and no beard and my hair is very fair, but it is a cause of great anxiety to me.

I can't shave because of absolutely dreadful growing hairs. Waxing also gives me ingrowing hairs. I can't have electrolysis or IPL because I have fair hair and fair skin. Plucking seems to double the hairs on my nipples. I am out of options, and thoroughly depressed about it. I am single and really want to start dating again but it's holding me back :(.

But finding out it is more common than I thought it somewhat heartening.

Also, PP comment about Ming the merciless really REALLY made me laugh

PCOS hair monster here too, with the obligatory chin whisker.

I don't need to do a strand test when I try a new hair colour, I just rely on the arm hairs that get in the way when I do my patch test. Silver linings.

I also have a walrus tash which I shave in the shower and a hairy forest aka my butt crack. I'm a sexy beast.

#MsJudgemental

JML Finishing Touch Flawless Trimmer

Is it a shaver (i.e. cuts the hairs off) or an epilator (pulls them out)?

I am more peach than nectarine so definitely interested.....

Get them laser removed before they turn white. Once they're white, laser treatment won't touch them!

I've been plucking out dark cheek hairs since I was mid-20's!

I have PCOS so I've had to deal with a moustache since 13 and chin hairs since about 23 but now in my late 30s I'm getting random mega long eyebrow hairs.

Oh come to think of it, do any of you get the wiry ones that are half white on the exposed part and then when you pluck them the other half is black? WTF is that all about?

This is the best post I've ever read here, I've been laughing my head off at some of the comments, I'm so glad I'm not alone in the daily fight against turning into a hairy beast.

grumpy4squash you asked about the JML Finishing Touch Flawless Trimmer, it's like a shaver, but it didn't really help me, I think my hair is just too coarse. I've been thinking of getting a philips lumea, does anyone recommend it?

This seems like the right place to ask if anybody knows if this (or similar) works: silkn.eu/en/silk-n-glide-30-000?gclid=CjwKCAjw8uLcBRACEiwAaL6MSbocfszYNek7YqBFpNf1zcA3JgaQwBx2oLxlTPD7cAWqLc2Aac6bUhoCHogQAvD_BwE?

Caution - I have done zero research and am interested in the negatives as well as the positives, but please don't see this as a recommendation it's just the first cheap one on google.

As a result of this thread I've just had a bath and defuzzed everywhere - from beard to hairy toes, my clothes feel weird against my hairless body now! Grin

I'm 31. I have none of these hair problems bar the usual suspects (legs, armpits and foof). I'm getting really fucking scared at the thought of turning 32 now!

I always tended to not have much body hair, and blonde. Now

  1. the toe hair Shock
  2. discovering curly black patches of hair in the middle of the backs of my thighs that must have been there for AGES, I mean who studies the backs of their thighs? Shock Shock

I get those weird half-and-half hairs too, usually in my eyebrows. I mentioned them to my bestie and she looked at me like I was a nutter and asked me if I’d been drinking 😂

Why can’t I see my half inch long chin hair until DD1 has plucked it out with an eye roll?
I am very fair, but increasingly fluffy giving me a sort of halo effect where Bradley Wiggins had his mutton chops. My nipple hairs, in contrast, are black and wiry and you could floss with them, ditto the long ones around my belly button that hurt like fuck to pluck.
I have the random long wiry white eyebrow hairs and my eyebrows are migrating down to join forces with my lashes.
My pubes are sparse and increasing grey which has revealed the fact that I have bastard stretch marks down there.
DD1 polices me when she’s home, no fucking warning, just reaches over and tugs, but it’s a fair cop.
So glad it’s not just me.

I am an expert on tweezers. I predict you will become one too. I always have a pair within arm's reach; the alternative is a frightening prospect.

Placemarking shamelessly so I don't forget the name of the JML trimmer thingy mentioned by PP.

Will read reviews tomorrow - need sleep. Hope I don't sprout my chin hairs in my sleep Grin
