To think the deliberate targeting of disabled people is idealogical and reminiscent of the 3rd reich?

Friends and I were discussing the current government's treatment of the disabled and I heard ANOTHER harrowing story. Her friends has multiple disabilities, cannot walk and relies on painkillers to make life tolerable. After her last assessment this woman was deemed fit to work and was told by a non medical professional (AKA administrator) that she didn't need medication. Her financial support was removed and now she has nothing whilst she stages an appeal.

The trouble is the government has scrapped a scheme which got disabled people into work. My good friend's sister has quite severe learning disabilities but was very happy in her job in a café until the government scrapped the scheme. Another thing we can thank Cameron for. She was devastated and wanted to work as it gave her self esteem.

So we have double standards here. We are being told to get jobs or loose benefits yet jobs are being cut.

AIBU to feel that humanity has learned nothing from history lessons at school and during a financial crisis we are keen to scapegoat others (disabled, jews etc.) Seems like most people don't want to help others as 'they work hard and why should they pay taxes?'

Someone will probably come along to say that Corbyn is an anti semite but the Nazis were anti disabled and wanted to squeeze them out of existence. So are the Tories. Is this an example of political gaslighting , cognitive dissonance or projection I wonder?

May I ask why SophieLMumsnet?

maxthemartian · 11/09/2018 22:34

senmumoftom are you crazy?! I've never in all the years I've been on here seen someone lose the plot so badly, and I've had far more robust conversations than this.

Gilead · 11/09/2018 22:40

'Tis a little odd, max, perhaps she's had a bad day.

maxthemartian · 11/09/2018 22:41

I wasn't being a bloody keyboard warrier. I'm living my own hell with PIP at the moment.

senmumoftom · 11/09/2018 22:42

Enjoy many more robust conversations about subjects which are obviously meaningless to you as a keyboard warrior.

Wait, you are surprised that I , as someone who lives and breathes disability should find this obscene thread so deeply offensive ? Wow.

Finally, SophieLMumsnet

senmumoftom · 11/09/2018 22:44

I have as it happens Gilead.............actually doing things rather than pounding a keyboard. Thanks for your sympathy.

maxthemartian · 11/09/2018 22:47

This is why I accused you of lacking empathy. It's not even registering with you that this isn't theoretical for me either.

BadLad · 11/09/2018 22:51

Remember Theresa May pledged 10 billion to the DUP to prop up her shitty government.

10 billion?

HelenaDove · 11/09/2018 22:51

If its so important that disabled people should be FIT to work why are so many trains buses etc making it so impossible for disabled people to GET to work?

Gilead · 11/09/2018 22:52

sen, I am sorry you've had a bad day. So have others. Honestly, a lot of us posting here also deal with disability in one way or another, day in, day out, too.

AbsentmindedWoman · 11/09/2018 22:55

Why is this thread being taken down? Why can't the post with the personal attack not just be deleted?

senmumoftom · 11/09/2018 23:00

Maybe cos all your posts have been theoretical ? Too obvious ?

I'm not playing Disability Top Trumps here, luv. I live and breathe this. And my sons life is shit.............and it has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with this or any government. Its to do with his very severe disability.

But, yeah, your stupid comment about my somehow lacking empathy does enrage me given that MY response to my sons problems is to work my ass off helping others with disabilities in real life in my job and volunteer work.

But hell, yeah, what I SHOULD be doing is posting naïve political shit all over Mumsnet.

AbsentmindedWoman · 11/09/2018 23:04

Sen - I hate to break this to you, but the world doesn't revolve around you. Other people have disabilities also, with different experiences.

You speak as though you take it for granted that your experience is somehow the default. As though you are the One Twoo Authority on disability Hmm

Take your blinkers off.

Absent, truly, don't waste your key strokes, she can't see anyone else for the rage.

My grandad was in the camps, and not Jewish either, so let's not assume that was the only reason.

Those who can't see what is happening, reading your posts reminds me of boiling frogs. You think they've turned the heat up to give you a lovely warm bath....

maxthemartian · 11/09/2018 23:11

sen I am genuinely sorry about your son. I do appreciate how stressful and hard that is.
Please believe that there are a lot of us out there having similar difficulties. I've spoken on this thread about my own issues with my PIP claim. It made me very upset and emotional. There wasn't anything theoretical about that for me.
I wish we could all support each other on this. I'm genuinely too tired to fight over it.

Livingtothefull · 11/09/2018 23:33

I don't know why this thread has to be taken down. So sorry the truth hurts so much and is offensive to some, it looks like censorship to me.

I have a severely disabled DS and have had to go through the process of claiming benefits. My contempt for this government knows no bounds. I am seeing this country go into a very dark place & am scared for the future. I don't think the op is at all far fetched.

But never mind, it looks like this thread is going to be taken down so it can all be swept under the carpet again.

BishopBrennansArse · 11/09/2018 23:39

@Livingtothefull it's because every time disabled voices contribute we get shut down on here.

Livingtothefull · 11/09/2018 23:43

Agreed Bishop. I am actually really shocked that this thread is being taken down.

BishopBrennansArse · 11/09/2018 23:45

@Livingtothefull I'm not. MNHQ routinely delete disabled voices due to right wing shills closing down threads. Rather than deal with the shills they think silencing disabled people is the appropriate course of action to take.

Livingtothefull · 11/09/2018 23:52

Yes indeed....who cares what a lot of disabled people think eh? It's so easy to ignore them and elbow them aside and disbelieve their lived experience. Even my own family don't believe the shit we have and have had to deal with on DS behalf. It is all highly inconvenient and gets in the way of their voting Tory with a clear conscience. What is happening is plain to see and the lessons from history are there.

ValleyClouds · 12/09/2018 00:26

I undid the Hide briefly to say :

I'm disabled and I think my stance on this is clear from my posts

I reported the thread because I don't think it's ever acceptable for ANYONE to start a post with

"Listen, cunt"

And I think some of the right wing views are so extreme they border on obscene such as if a person has a disability and no friends and family they should not expect any support from society; whilst at the same time denying that that viewpoint is in any sense fascist

Livingtothefull · 12/09/2018 06:17

I think any individual posts that are offensive like the one you mentioned should be taken down (or edited), that is what generally happens on either threads. Why take the whole thread down? And repugnant as the extreme right wing posts are I think they should stay...I have to suffer these attitudes every day & they are usually hidden, their callousness is on display here for everyone to see.

Neshoma · 12/09/2018 07:45

This thread should have been be removed ages ago as the OP cleared off yonks ago with no interest in actually discussing her claims. She's just heard some key words and put them together.

🖕 Bishop, this sort of behaviour is against MN Guidelines - you have been on here long enough to know this is inappropriate. SEN is a new poster and you have all bullied and ridiculed her - as always happens on these threads till you get your way. You re all bullies.

BishopBrennansArse · 12/09/2018 07:51
