Please don’t judge I know it’s disgusting. Can’t afford to pay someone ...

Millipedewithherfeetup · 07/09/2018 16:03

Another vote for oven pride ( and I use it on the glass too !) Fantastic stuff brings everything up like new with zero effort.

chemenger · 07/09/2018 16:05

I use oven pride on the glass with no problems.

serbska · 07/09/2018 16:10

+1 for oven pride

Do not get it on anything else though!

Melamin · 07/09/2018 16:37

When you have got it clean (and admired it for a while), smear the inside of the oven with a paste of bicarb and water.

It will look like shite, but it will be so much easier to clean next time.

Just wipe it with an old cloth and hot water with a bit of washing up liquid, and a Spong thing for the tough bits. Then put more bicarb on.

When I have not done this, I have regretted it.

Bumbledop · 07/09/2018 16:40

For the shelves..... do you have a dishwasher? If you put them in the dishwasher on the highest temperature setting the dirt really softens and is easy to wipe off.

Kemer2018 · 07/09/2018 16:46

Oven spray.
Followed by steam cleaner and scrub.

Dayz0fft4 · 07/09/2018 22:09

For the bottom of the oven buy the black oven mat that you can cut to shape and wipe clean. I think it is silicon, Lakeland sell it or use a couple of sheets of aluminum foil

IggyAce · 07/09/2018 22:20

Just cleaned my oven this week it was awful. I used the oven pride kit from Poundland. It cleaned the selves but I was disappointed that it didn’t really get the bottom clean. I got that clean by warming the oven and using a scraper to remove the burnt on crap.

Thelastredwinegum · 07/09/2018 22:25

OP "can't afford to pay someone..."

Several posts "pay someone to clean it"

Hmm

The oven pride works well (wasn't impressed with Wilko own version) didn't realise it couldn't be used on the doors ooops.
Get the liners for once it's done.

BlopPop · 07/09/2018 22:29

Oven cleaner from the pound shop for the trays and inside the oven, and normal washing up liquid with hot water on the glass.

Then wrap tin foil round a cheap baking tray and leave at the bottom to catch drips. Replace when your sponge cake smells of last weeks garlic chicken Grin

MrsFrankDrebin · 07/09/2018 22:37

Mr Muscle, spray it on everything in side a huge bin bag or two (assuming you can take the glass out of the doors) and leave for at least 12 hours, or as long as you can. A nice warm day outside really works wonders for some of that that. Just make sure you keep the air out as much as possible once you've sprayed - do the spraying once your shelves/glass doors are in the bag, add one at a time, keep spraying until they're all covered (don't breathe in, and ideally do all this outside!)

I use a clip to seal the bag, but you can knot it.

Then wash off the next day with warm soapy water - you might need to scrub a bit, but not a lot.

In my house we use the 'oven cleaning weekend' (which I do once every 6 weeks now - it's honestly worth it to keep on top of it!) for a take away, so no cooking is needed, and the oven shelves/doors are cool when they go in the bin bag.

I have an oven liner at the bottom of my oven, so I just wash that with the warm soapy water too, and when everything's back in we're good to go.

Give it a try, it really works!

lowtide · 07/09/2018 22:46

Astonish paste it’s the cats balls! I use it on everything

DramaAlpaca · 07/09/2018 22:50

Oven Pride did a great job on my grubby oven.

PlatypusPie · 07/09/2018 22:58

Another Lakeland paint on fan here - really effective and none of the nasty fumes you get with the foamy spray ons. The glass will come up crystal clear ,

GallicosCats · 09/09/2018 08:16

Those of you who use oven liners - how do you stop them from flapping about once the fan's on (we have a fan oven)?

I also suspect the fan itself needs a serious clean but am I right in thinking this needs an engineer to service it?

AsleepAllDay · 09/09/2018 08:26

Soaking trays and then going mad on the insides with Cif x

elaine26 · 09/09/2018 08:46

I bought a steam cleaner from b&m a few years ago and it worked wonders on my oven door and the shelves

Oneinthegrave · 09/09/2018 09:34

The mr muscle spray foam well worth the price wear gloves though its like acid!!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 09/09/2018 09:35

Call that dirty? I think I'm actually going to have to get a new oven as mine is beyond grim.

mrscloppity · 09/09/2018 09:39

Astonish oven paste! It's non toxic. Doesn't smell and it honestly cleans amazingly. It's about £1 and I use it for bloody everything. Honestly, it'll clean your oven no probs

InfiniteCurve · 09/09/2018 09:39

Or you could just leave it - does it still cook? No probs then!
( or move, that's how we dealt with our first oven....Grin)

mrscloppity · 09/09/2018 09:41

The before was like yours, this was after a few minutes with a sponge and the astonish paste.

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 09/09/2018 09:53

Gallicoscats I cut the oven liner so that it bends up the sides of the oven a bit. In my old oven it would then tuck under the bottom shelf support. In current oven it sits white happily despite the fan.
I'm another believer in ovenpride. I cleaned the oven from our rented flat last weekend and it has come up a treat.

RoseMartha · 09/09/2018 10:01

Magic sponges are good for the glass door. Inside bicarb and white vinegar and elbow grease
