You're supposed to clean your oven!? ShockGrin

Aridane · 07/09/2018 14:31

The Lakeland stuff isn’t the miracle product the online reviews suggest if you have a really dirty over Blush

ShakespearesSisters · 07/09/2018 14:32

Looks better than mine! The oven bright kits are good for the metal bits. Dishwasher tablet to clean glass. Or, I risked the ash from the fire as it's so good for cleaning the log burner glass, it was amazing. Quickest, easiest option I've ever used.

ShutTheFridgeUp · 07/09/2018 14:32

I use dishwasher tablets on my oven door. Bowl of water, dip tablet in and rub on door. Works a treat.

SingleCellParamecium · 07/09/2018 14:33

Just had my oven cleaned by a professional. Was telling him how i’ve Tried everything on the oven door and it just wouldn’t come off. He got his scraper out and within seconds it was see brought again. I couldn’t believe I hadn’t tried that myself! However, he was then here for several hours cleaning it until it sparkled and I thought i’d never be able to spend that long on it, so glad I paid someone to do it.

SingleCellParamecium · 07/09/2018 14:33

See through

3girlmama · 07/09/2018 14:33

Oven pride kit
Or a mobile oven cleaning company

Serenity25 · 07/09/2018 14:34

I use the Lakeland stuff as well, it’s brilliant as I often leave my oven for ages before cleaning it! They also do a kit just to clean the racks.

ACatsNoHelpWithThat · 07/09/2018 14:36

Once it's clean you can get oven liners in the pound shop.

UpstartCrow · 07/09/2018 14:37

The white specks on the sides of the oven mean its self cleaning, so check the manufacturers website. Dont use oven cleaner until you do, because it ruins the self clean finish.

The shelves can be soaked in a boiling solution of biological washing powder. After half an hour they should scrub up with a scratch pad dipped in washing powder.
Clean the glass door with something to degrease such as a solution of ammonia.

BarbaraofSevillle · 07/09/2018 14:38

Does the glass come out of the door and do you have a dishwasher?

I can run the dishwasher without the top basket so put the door glass in there.

gamerwidow · 07/09/2018 14:39

@chipsandgin if it ever makes it out the cupboard I can confirm it will work Grin

pumpkinspicetime · 07/09/2018 14:41

As others have said a cheap bag kit left overnight and a scraper for the glass door, job done. Dirty ovens are actually fairly easy to clean and very satisfying.

Screaminginsidemeagain · 07/09/2018 14:41

Get an oven cleaner in for £40 it’ll look like new and you can end up spending that on nasty chemicals and time doing it yourself.

BrokenWing · 07/09/2018 14:45

Look up the manual for your oven online, usually the door comes off, much easier than cleaning in situ.

The glass usually needs a lot of elbow grease, DO NOT use harsh cleaning products on the tempered glass as they can react with the chemicals in the glass and cause it to shatter later when in use.

The Oven pride set with the bags for your shelves and the gel for the bottom of the oven is really good, but be careful with it and get strong long gloves as it can burn.

The sides of your oven look like they are self cleaning so I wouldnt put anything too harsh on them either.

Nearlyhaveahouse · 07/09/2018 14:48

Pound shop. Little in of astonish and some elbow grease. Or Mr muscle or oven pride.

BumDisease · 07/09/2018 14:48

Seconding the cleaning kits with the bags to soak trays and racks in. But when it says do not get on your skin, DO NOT GET IT ON YOUR SKIN.

MissMisery · 07/09/2018 14:52

I use oven pride on the glass door but am careful not to get it on the rubber seal thingummy.
Still requires some elbow grease mind. Then I spend an entire evening looking at it admiringlyGrin

kaitlinktm · 07/09/2018 14:53

No need to bin the liner Aperol it washes beautifully in warm soapy water. It can be used time & time again. No need to replace it.

I put mine in the dishwasher.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 07/09/2018 14:54

Pay someone

deepsea · 07/09/2018 14:56

Muscle spray - effortless.

combatbarbie · 07/09/2018 14:57

The pink stuff from Poundland!

CrunchieFriday · 07/09/2018 14:58

de-railing slightly, sorry.Blush

I'm about to order the oven cleaning kit from Lakeland. Are there any other fantastic products to make my life easier I should buy? Grin

StandardsHighSquatsLow · 07/09/2018 15:00

littlemissmops on Instagram has just done an oven clean, using a Cif Kitchen spray and hot water. I think it was the bottle with orange on it - not the most helpful I know. Or the Astonish oven and grill cleaner is amazing.

speakout · 07/09/2018 15:31

It doesn't look too bad.

The sides of your oven ( the grey matt material) is self cleaning and should not be touched.

There may be a heating element in the roof of the oven- don't touch that either.

So all you have to do is the oven door, the floor of the oven, and the racks.
As other have said either put the racks in the dishwasher ( any residual muck will come off easily with a light scrub if you tackle it as soon as you remove it from the dishwasher.

If no dishwasher then buy a cheap kit- I have tried many and the pound shop ones are just as effective.
They come with a big bag and you put the shelves inside and pour in the solution- leaves for hours or overnight. ( I do this outside on a patch of gravel)

The floor needs to be lightly cleaned to get rid of debris and use the spray or solution- again leave for some time.
The door may need a second application as the solution will drip off and dry quite quickly on a vertical surface.
If you don't scrub straight away and allow the stuff to dry again then you will be back to square one.

You will probably need a second application.

Do make sure pets and children are kept away, wear gloves, the chemicals can burn skin.
Also protect your floor in front of your oven before you start cleaning, I use an opened up black bin liner and newspaper.

And just another point- don't store baking ware in your oven, I see you have some in there.

If you subject your trays to contant heating it will limit their lifespan, cause them to warp, make them more prone to sticking, making them more difficult to clean.

Good luck!
