Death penalty

I don't quite understand the logic of people who want to murder people who have committed awful crimes.

I do understand saying you wish you could, verbalising the anger felt and not literally meaning you would actually carry out a killing yourself.

I don't understand when people swear they would actually kill

One horrific crime doesn't go away because you commit another horrific crime such as murder on the guilty?

I don't understand the death penalty either - I totally agree that life seems too good for some people, however it's still legalising murdering a human being to have the state kill them - so I just can't get my head around murdering someone because they murdered someone. Perhaps some form of voluntary self administered euthanasia being available by prescription to individuals who will never leave prison in their lifetime would be a solution to how much money it costs to house prisoners however it's not even like people get death penalty and it happens soon, they spend ages and have money spent on holding them prior to execution

What is a serial murderer/serial rapist / pedophile actually bringing to the human race/society apart from misery?
The majority can’t be counselled back to being anywhere near normal so what are the actual option’s here? Having them languish away in a cell that is paid for by the state? Fuck that, give them the injection I say.

On another note it baffles me how long people actually wait on death row , like you hear about people being on death row for 15 years ?! They need to make the process for lethal injection more efficient me thinks, install a conveyor belt or something.

f you take someone's human rights away and example being a murderer they should then have their human rights taken away by them being euthanised.

Sounds like you don't believe in human rights then. Those are the rights you get just for being human, not the ones you get for being decent.

Anyway, I personally would not support irreversible punishments until if an when miscarriages of justice are eliminated.

Out of interest, what made you decide to write to a DR prisoner?

I was on holiday in NY and read an article in the paper about Joe Giarratano, a DR prisoner who had exhausted his appeals and was due to be executed. I really felt it was important that someone in that position had a person who would offer them unconditional friendship and support at the darkest time in their life.

Of course it’s been challenging at times but I’m so glad I’ve done it.

List of pardons for people who were sentenced to death.

People under 18 sentenced to death in USA.

You're a better person than I am then. Flowers
