Just seen the most enormous spider in my DS bedroom - would I be OK to just shut the door and never use the room again! DS can sleep in the lounge.

You call that enormous??

I lived in tropical Asia and the fuckers there are at least the size of your palm. With legs as tick as cocktail sticks!

id love to see a Segestria florentina @rightyhochaps lucky!

I'm a great believer in returning things to their natural habitat. Surely, if it's a male spider, that means waiting until it's dark and taking him down the street to find him some washing to rub his willy on?

DD was supposed to be strapping (her) boat to the roof of the car last night, but suddenly freaked out at the "white and red" spider that she was trying to get out of the car but it went in behind the seat and got lost.

Meh, both our cars have spiders - I'm always clearing cobwebs on winter mornings. And normally she's fine too with them.

But I think our recent trip to an event overseas has made her wary of all sorts of creatures - we saw massive snails (6 inches long!), cockroaches, and lots of rats, as well as hearing big toads all night long and seeing some quite big spiders too.

I'm sure she'll be over it before winter really sets in and the daddy long legs all invade the house as per usual....

oh god that pic of the giant house spider with the 4 long legs has me itching all over.
I had one of those walk across in front of me and thank god I didn't have my contacts in so only saw a blur but let's just say it was a good job I was sat on the toilet at time!

RightyHoChaps · 05/09/2018 20:15

@branleuse

Take them... we don't want them 😂 I would never disturb them. They bite. They never poke their heads out anyway... just their huge black legs... ew ew ew!

Branleuse · 05/09/2018 20:21

haha, try and get a pic of the green fangs!!

cinnabarmoth · 06/09/2018 07:27

There really seem to be a lot of them this year, I had to get DP to remove a huge one yesterday from the pantry, only to find another 10 minutes later in the kitchen cupboard. That one had conveniently climbed into a glass jug (3rd one this year that's done that!)) so disposed of it myself, it's the catching them I don't like.

Went to have a shower this morning and there's another in the bath, so it's dry shampoo until I get back from the school run and have mustered up enough courage to approach it...

Branleuse · 06/09/2018 07:39

There isnt especially a lot this year. Its the same every late august/september. We get the same posts. People freak. Nobody gets bitten, nothing happens, repeat every year.
