It just seems unnecessary when they are just upsetting theirselves and spoiling it for other people.
I’m talking
“What’s your favourite treat food from the shops”
“Nothing. I live in a wooden crab infested shack and only eat mouldy dog food and sprouts”
Or
“What funny/silly nonsense did your family do with you as a child”
“Well they string me up and beat me with birches, I don’t know if that counts”
I understand hard lives, and it’s not been a picnic personally but I (and I assume others) read cheerful threads as nice escapism and happy memories and these posters are upsetting their selves and others

I'm always impressed by the ability for some people to always insist the man is always in the wrong.

Today my DH didn't put the rubbish out and I called him a cunt and slapped him. Am I abusive? ..reading between the lines I'd say he is deliberately not putting the rubbish out because he thinks you should do it, he thinks you have no value and is putting you down by 'forgetting to do it' so it's you that is being abused. I bet he tells you you're abusive every time you hit him? Classic gaslighting.

I saw a thread once where a DH was posting about his wife who clearly had an anxiety disorder and didn't want her DH to go out in the evenings because she was too scared to even go upstairs in the house on her own in the dark. Several posters posting 'well, how much time out of the house does she get in the evenings?' 'How much of the mental load are you carrying? She's probably exhausted'. Someone even accused the posters saying she sounded like she has serious anxiety problems of 'letting this man set up a thread where people say his wife is mentally ill and this is a tactic of abusers'.

GoatWithACoat · 04/09/2018 05:42

Mumsnet. The home of Virtue Signallers and the professionally offended.

There was an actual thread a few weeks back asking people who own cars how they sleep at night knowing the damage we are doing to the planet.

Well my little sack wearing tree hugger, after a long arse day at work followed by looking after my planet ruining kids, I’m so knackered I sleep like a baby thanks.

P.S, you sound like fun at parties.

StripySocksAndDocs · 04/09/2018 06:11

Hmmm, StarWarsHolidaySpecial, not exactly sure that's an example of a light hearted thread being derailed. Or even a run of the mill thread. Plus I'm fairly sure there haven't been too many threads where the OP has said she hit her partner and called him a cunt and everyone was grand with it.

Zoflorabore · 04/09/2018 06:30

Love this thread :)

I was on a non zoflora ( or even cleaning in general ) thread and someone with too much time on their hands decided to be all like " ooh zoflorabore I know this isn't the point of the thread but why do you like that stuff? It gives me headaches, makes me puke, I can smell it through houses walking down the street and want to knock at the door and tell them how disgusting it is blah blah fucking blah "
I replied with something quite polite and was then informed that I'm poisoning my kids with it, making local wildlife extinct and probably am the main cause of Brexit Wink

As I say, too much time on their hands.

I hardly take notice of usernames and certainly don't use them to define and judge the hell out of people.

GoatWithACoat · 04/09/2018 06:55

Ahhh Brexit.

Having trouble growing your petunias this year? (Must be because of Brexit)

Hot water gone and the boiler man can’t get to you till Friday? (He must be a Brexiteer)

Light bulb blown? (Just wait until Brexit happens, there will BE NO ELECTRIC EVER and we shall return to the Dark Ages)

StarWarsHolidaySpecial · 04/09/2018 06:57

Yeah, not lighthearted so not the point of this thread really. But there have been plenty of threads where female on male violence is completely minimised and the implication made that the male is probably emotionally abusive and provoked the violence.

StripySocksAndDocs · 04/09/2018 06:58

Are you addicted Zoflorabore? Do you want to talk? We are here for you.

(Why do we put it on radiators?)

MaisyPops · 04/09/2018 07:02

Zoflorabore
And here was me who had never heard of zoflora until mumsnet and had to Google to work out what people were in love witj

I used star drops liqid for everything and now method, but that's neither here nor there because I don't change the bed sheets after sex each time so that's basically living in a dumpster on here at times Grin

Pamdoo · 04/09/2018 07:14

LTB he's clearly married! Sorry hun. Until you've got your ducks in a row, reduce his pocket money everytime he forgets.

RollaCola84 · 04/09/2018 07:43

Goatwithacoat I remember the car one ! And we're all terrible drivers at risk of carrying out a massacre every time we turn the ignition. Was it the OP on that thread who went camping by bus and didn't understand the decadence of anyone who would use a car to transport their tent etc.

Gardai · 04/09/2018 07:52

I burn my sheets and bed after sex.
Poo particles are EVERYWHERE
Bodily fluids are gross and need dousing with T tree oil
I change my pants 17 times a day
Shower 4 times a day and have a bath in zoflora before bed
I leak all over the bed
I deep clean my arse
I wipe my Cats's paws and arse before she comes into the house
I never ever answer the door to anyone ever even if it's the morning and it's the postman...cue triggering anxiety and no fucking mail.
Aibu to never get any mail as I don't open the door...cue "ignore the mean posters OP I haven't opened the door since 1990 "

StripySocksAndDocs · 04/09/2018 07:55

To be fair to bus camping lady (Or should that camping bus lady?) If you drive a car and do not do exactly the speed limit at all time you are a hideously dangerous driver.

Slower or faster than the speedlimit, anything more than one mile under or over it will be akin to murder. And it's not even as simply as that!! Your speedometer may lie to you, so you will be secretly a hideously dangerous driver. Technology is criminalising us.

Gardai · 04/09/2018 07:56

I set the heating to come on in December at 7 degrees, doesn't do any harm and better for the children, I saved lots of money so they can go to uni and hate me forever (and never come home again).

littlechocolatechippies · 04/09/2018 07:58

And threads where some weird posters intervenes in every single page from 1 to 40 criticising all people who disagree with them? After a while you might expect them to drop it but they continue.

Virtue signalling regarding "snobs" ,normally coming from people who had a priviledged upbringing and wouldn't know what having a hard life is even if it hit them in the face.

Gardai · 04/09/2018 08:00

I'm not in debt, never have been.
I couldn't sleep at night because I owed the milkman 20p
Debt is highly irresponsible
If a woman doesn't work she's a terrible terrible woman and deserves to die, she is obviously living off her DP who works really hard to keep the slattern in handbags and coffees.

StripySocksAndDocs · 04/09/2018 08:03

Have they started already? Heating threads were the competitive multiply jumper and sock wearers try out freeze each other in order to put down the hesting on people. Mind you the frivolous lot get to read the thread from their toasty warm houses so what do they care.

Gardai · 04/09/2018 08:04

The thread killjoys keep on and on like an annoying fly, taking umbrage over perceived slights
It's quite predictable really, it's possible to take offence at anything but you just let the fun happen.
Self entitled twat monkeys and arbiters of all that is 'correct' and 'moral'.

StripySocksAndDocs · 04/09/2018 08:06

I always find, littlechocolatechippies, that the weird posters often go on (and on) about how everyone is obsessed or should let it drop or something similar.

Gardai · 04/09/2018 08:06

The heating threads haven't started yet thanks be to God but it won't be long...

PhilomenaButterfly · 04/09/2018 08:14

Either join in in the spirit of the thread or leave it the fuck alone.

You could contact MNHQ to put that in the Talk Guidelines. That would sort everything out.
😂

longwayoff · 04/09/2018 08:30

Recent. Not lighthearted but blimey! Summary -
"I think puppy farms are vile. Hopefully new legislation will help close them down"
"It will make things much worse. Have you really thought this through?
"No,I haven't. You obviously know more than me. Please explain."
"that was very rude. I wouldn't waste my time explaining anything to you" Flounce Hmm

littlechocolatechippies · 04/09/2018 08:58

@StripySocksAndDocs and go back pages to find a sigle post and copy and paste it including the time. Or even stalk a poster on other threads.

RedDogsBeg · 04/09/2018 09:03

longwayoff the sneery superior "I won't waste my time explaining or educating you" translates as:

"I haven't a clue what I'm talking about, I'm just being nasty and belittling you."

littlechocolatechippies · 04/09/2018 09:03

Oh and food threads. The ones that should be funny but are targeted by some miserable soul on a constant diet.

OP: " I love spraying whipped cream straight in my mouth when nobody's at home, it's my guilty pleasure"
Poster 1 : "Ewwww, you must be the size of a hot air balloon, in my house the only guilty pleasure we have is dried apricots and almonds for Christmas".
Poster 2 :"OP, You are the reason NHS services are overstreched"
