To ask if any MNers in Bournemouth can loan a blanket or two urgently?

I'm on a NC, been a MNer for years though. My dearest friend is stuck tonight in Bournemouth. She is staying for her DC to see their relative and she's had to clean and wash everything... blankets aren't dry and they are cold!!!

She's very honest and lovely and will return your blankets after but could anyone local perhaps lend one or two for the night to her and her 5 year old child?

This is my first thought but open to ideas... she doesn't drive to go and buy one

I’m in the north east so can’t help practically, but could she amazon prime them with 1 hour delivery? Just an idea!

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 21:06

That's a good idea @flyingsaucersherbet I wish I could afford to do that for her but I can't and have a feeling she probably can't either but I will definitely suggest it!

Bump im not local though sorry :(

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 21:08

Does anyone know if they have homeless charities in Bournemouth who go out and give a sleeping bag? I work for one in London and we do that and wouldn't mind, they could share one for the night I'm sure but I don't know of any to contact (and unsure about asking that)

Bump

MeyMary · 30/08/2018 21:12

I have no idea and unfortunately am too far away to help (not even on the same island)...

I hope she'll find something!

HumptyNumptyNooNoo · 30/08/2018 21:13

There's a few launderettes in Bournemouth and Poole that should be able to dry stuff quickly, I've had a couple of drinks tonight, so can't nip over to Bournemouth ( I'm about an hour away ) sorry. Hope your friend can get warm soon.

Almostthere15 · 30/08/2018 21:14

I'm too far to help but I hope she can find one. In an emergency, and if she's not on a meter I've used a hairdryer before to dry bedding?

yawning801 · 30/08/2018 21:16

More bumping

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 21:16

Thank you I've suggested the hairdryer. She's quite shy and worried about asking neighbors she doesn't know at this hour.., googling launderettes good idea! Thank you everyone

I'm too far away to help but does she have towels or clothes she can layer as bedding? I had to do this while camping when we forgot sleeping bags and didn't realise until the shops were closed

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 21:20

Thank you @Sugarhunnyicedtea I think that's the plan atm I think her child is asleep by her doing this... so that's something!

Am in Bournemouth- live on the high street- happy to help!

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 30/08/2018 21:22

It's not ideal but it works, until you roll over in the night and the whole tower of towels and clothes falls off 🙄
