To ask if any MNers in Bournemouth can loan a blanket or two urgently?

I'm on a NC, been a MNer for years though. My dearest friend is stuck tonight in Bournemouth. She is staying for her DC to see their relative and she's had to clean and wash everything... blankets aren't dry and they are cold!!!

She's very honest and lovely and will return your blankets after but could anyone local perhaps lend one or two for the night to her and her 5 year old child?

This is my first thought but open to ideas... she doesn't drive to go and buy one

Oh this thread is great. I hope they manage to get some blankets.

If not: I once spent a night under a coat / in a clean trashbag.
You take whatever layers you have (either as clothes or as blankets) and then cover yourself with a plastic bag or - if you're not particularly tall and have one of the super long ones - use it like a sleeping bag.

It might be an idea for MNHQ to check out the OP, if people are giving out info about where they live.

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 21:48

Thanks @LizzieSiddal not asking for any addresses but @MNHQ will see I'm a long term poster... my friend is not at a permanent address either, just visiting with her child and is a local restaurant very close I was going to suggest meeting by if was close enough or giving to an uber driver if I can sort one collecting and delivering locally enough... and my friend will happily return blankets gratefully after borrowing

Ring a taxi firm and see if they might bring one? Longshot.

LizzieSiddal · 30/08/2018 21:50

Great needsablanket. That’s great if MNHQ can verify things as much as they are able.

yawning801 · 30/08/2018 21:51

I hope Anoushka and OP get something sorted out

Giraffeowlllama · 30/08/2018 21:53

If she is in landsdowne the asda is open till 12. Also there is a 24 hr laundrette past the texco garage.

Mummylin · 30/08/2018 21:55

If all else fails, your friend is not very far from an Asda store which also is in Lansdowne Road. It is by the train station which is about a ten minute walk from the roundabout at the Lansdowne. She could prob get a sleeping bag there, or a quilt quite cheaply. HTH.

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 21:55

Thank you @Giraffeowlllama if @Anoushkasays isn't able to help I will send an uber to Asda I think if I can persuade one... is it far?

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 21:55

Giraffeowlllama · 30/08/2018 21:58

There isn't uber here. I don't know about persuading a taxi driver. Can she got go to asda herself?

CrochetBelle · 30/08/2018 22:02

Are there any nearby b&bs that they may be able to borrow/rent some bedding from?

myfriendneedsablanket · 30/08/2018 22:05

Landsdowne rd is not Landsdowne tho it is also long to be traipsing up and down with a small child at 10pm

RB68 · 30/08/2018 22:06

Glad she is sorted - I used to live just off that road 30 yrs ago...feels old...

Anoushkasays · 30/08/2018 22:06

I have returned! (I am that near lol) I love it when nice things happen because of the internet!

Mummylin · 30/08/2018 22:08

To the poster that mentioned B&B,s all around the Lansdowne area is nothing but student accommodation as the college is situated there, just nothing these days but big blocks of flats !
Glad it's all sorted Op

yawning801 · 30/08/2018 22:08
