I keep re watching it, I’ve not laughed so hard in ages. Oh dear oh dear Theresa!! What on Earth was she thinking!

OP posts:

Perhaps you would like to dance in front of the cameras for the world to see OP, then we can all mock you and see how funny that is. Hmm

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 03:25

I just don't find it funny taking the piss out of someone's awkwardness no matter who they are. As PP have said at least she gave it a go. They can't all be as good as Barrack Obama Smile

Here's a short video of some of the other politicians dancing, John Prescot can move, George Bush is a bit disturbing.

validateMyFeelings · 29/08/2018 03:48

I think mocking someone's dancing is really cruel.

Itchytights · 29/08/2018 03:50

Oh man- it was funny but in her defence she had a go.
She could have stood there and that would have been worse

littlecabbage · 29/08/2018 04:00

Trouble is, Hugh Grant set the bar for Prime Ministerial dancing so high in Love Actually, that anyone else will suffer in comparison Sad

TheStopAndChat · 29/08/2018 04:08

Shades of Elaine Benes Grin

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 04:09

Just watched the Hugh Grant clip Grin I've never actually watched Love Actually. Smile

The Obama's dancing to Thriller:

ilovesooty · 29/08/2018 05:25

I felt for her. No fan of hers but that must have been difficult for her.

PollyFlinderz · 29/08/2018 05:36

I cant see whats wrong with it. She picked up the beat and she moved in a way that was appropriate to the region.

Its not as if she did the bloody twist.

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 05:38

Yeah she was just a bit stiff that's all. We can't be good at everything can we.

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 05:41

People that laugh at others for their inadequacies are just trying to cover up their own.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 29/08/2018 06:24

I hope some posters here never read private eye or watch Have I got news for you...

I doubt there's much overlap in demographic with MN and HIGNFY etc.

WhipItGood · 29/08/2018 08:00

What did you expect? She's the Prime Minister not a member of Pan's People FFS. Grin

Tbf I think I might have looked the same. She gave it a go so good for her.

areyoubeingserviced · 29/08/2018 08:10

I don’t think that Obama was that brilliant either tbh.
Dislike Theresa May’s politics , but can’t knock her for having a go

Vitalogy · 29/08/2018 08:24

I don’t think that Obama was that brilliant either tbh. You can criticise him for all sorts but not his dancing surely! Are you sure you know what good dancing looks like! Shock

cariadlet · 29/08/2018 08:37

I'm part of the vast majority on this thread who don't like TM's policies, but felt a bit sorry for her and thought that the OP was unnecessarily nasty.
I also read most issues of Private Eye and regularly watch HIGNFY. I don't think there's a contradiction.

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 29/08/2018 08:37

I really don't know what all the fuss is about. I'm African, born in UK. When i visit and am forced to dance, i probably look like Teresa but if i refuse that would be rude. She will be appreciated by her hosts for making an effort and for joining in. Nothing funny here at all, it's great!

Fluffyears · 29/08/2018 08:38

You know that the Obama’s would get right in there as they love interacting with kids. I felt for her as she looked so awkward but good on her for thinking ‘right i’m Going to look so bad but fuck it!’.

BertrandRussell · 29/08/2018 08:41

There are many things I think it is entirely appropriate to criticism Theresa May for.

Her dancing is not one of them.

Grow up.

PolkerrisBeach · 29/08/2018 08:43

I don't dance. I loathe dancing, I feel incredibly self-conscious and awkward dancing. Being put in the situation she was put in yesterday, and then everyone laughing at it is my worst nightmare. Poor Theresa.

Believeitornot · 29/08/2018 08:45

She's doing her best in a shit job in a country that's rapidly heading down the pan

But she's in a shit political situation and fucked whatever she does

I beg to differ. She has many choices but instead she chooses to appease the likes of Jacob Rees Mogg, putting her party politics way ahead of the country’s interest. She knows and believes that Brexit will be a shit show yet she carries on undermining her own cabinet members to keep the crazed europhobics happy. Because she knows if she didn’t, she would lose her job and her party would fall apart.

That’s what is driving her motivation. She isn’t motivated to try and get the best deal for Britain, not at all. It’s an embarrassing nonsense.

As is her dancing. However I don’t laugh at Obama’s in the same way because, in my view, he was a better politician than she could ever be. My laugh for him is affection, for her it is is wrapped up in my utter disrespect for her as a politician.

It’s like when you see a bully trip over. You laugh and laugh hard.

tinstar · 29/08/2018 08:56

No lover of the Tories or TM but all she did was dance like a rather stiff 60+ woman in an awkward situation. No idea why that would make anyone piss themselves laughing. Hmm

She also made a better fist of it than the Obamas did in that Thriller video to be fair.
Though of course I agree that the Obamas are the coolest couple on the planet.
