I know it will never be the same as proper coffee but surely some are better than others?!

my morning coffee really is my little moment of luxury

I treat myself with the first cup of the day: put milk and coffee (Kenco Rich) in cup. Blast in microwave for one minute. Top up with hot water.

'Cooking' the coffee seems to make it more intense.

I'm a DE fan. The best imo.

I was going to post on the recent thread about "things you do to annoy your DH/DP" and I couldn't think of anything at the time, but I've just remembered that I take the piss out of his perfect pronunciation of DE by saying Doweeee Eggy-bits

LittleRen · 28/08/2018 12:14

I am a total coffee snob and live for our coffee machine but we did a kid's party recently and I bought some cheap Morrisons Gold, it's actually really really nice... I was very surprised. I do also love Azera though.

Despite being a coffee snob I do sometimes find a cup of instant much more refreshing than a coffee from the cafetière or the machine. Anyone else agree?

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 28/08/2018 12:15

the one from Lidl.
the only way to make instant coffee drinkable is to make it into a frappe, with lots and lots of ice.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 28/08/2018 12:17

tbh, LittleRen, no, as a hot drink it is more or less undrinkable. Certainly if you were a "coffee snob" you would realise that..:)

bambootwentytwo · 28/08/2018 12:22

I’m not a coffee snob but I have a friend who is and her coffees are the only ‘proper coffees’ I prefer to instant.
Otherwise I find them too strong and bitter.

IndigoSpritz · 28/08/2018 12:34

I remember coffee bags in the late seventies but I'm not sure they caught on at the time. I'm very glad they've resurfaced in recent years. I stock up on Lyons red whenever they're on offer so, in theory, I shouldn't need to buy any more until next February.

Winterbella · 28/08/2018 12:36

Azera Americano is the best I've found

Winterbella · 28/08/2018 12:39

Also, never put the milk into Azera first its horrible, use the hot water first and then a little milk, much nicer and still retains the little froth.

ChristmasFluff · 28/08/2018 15:46

Azera!

I was introduced to it by a friend at work, as I normally only drink filter coffee. So now when people ask at work do I want a coffee, I always ask, 'is it L's nice coffee?' (which is Azera) cos otherwise the answer is a no.

Milk def in last - and I use a lot of milk and the froth stays

Sophia99 · 28/08/2018 15:48

Carte noir.

TiffinBox · 28/08/2018 15:56

I use coffee bags for work and travel, it's ground coffee in a bag like a tea bag.

I used to love Nescafe Gold Blend, but then they changed ruined it so I spent a good while putting up with my dhs various coffees (all too bitter but with no flavour. He likes Nescafe Azera, Alta Rica, Percol americano). I then, despite hating the ad and not wanting to fall for the hype, tried L'or and its now MY coffee. I tried it with 1tsp OP, but now have two slightly rounded spoons and its perfect.

Blobby10 · 28/08/2018 16:01

I prefer Douwe Egberts but also like Kenco (red one). I generally buy whatever is on offer for £5 for a 200g jar Smile

WildCherryBlossom · 28/08/2018 18:02

I usually have Douwe Egberts on busy weekday mornings and a cafetière at the weekend. Put a metal cafetière on your Christmas list. It's amazing - keeps the coffee warmer much longer and doesn't break (I got through 3 glass cafetière sleeves in a year before splurging on a metal one. Had it for years now and it's great!).

It's probably minor in the grand scheme of things but the amount of packaging that goes into coffee pods (nespresso et al) really winds me up.

I have two coffee makers (the last bag cost £12.00) but still prefer Aldi or Lidl Colombian coffee every time.

WatchedTooMuchBrookside · 28/08/2018 20:30

I used to spend a fortune on the Starbucks sachets but only this week discovered the Lavazzo in B&Ms for £2.79 a tin. It’s every bit as nice, in fact it tastes like it could be the same thing! I also prefer it to Azera which I used for years - it’s going to save me a fortune in takeaway coffees!

ginandnappies · 28/08/2018 20:33

Aldi's version of Azera is brill

Sparklingwinemakesmehappy · 28/08/2018 20:34

I waited about 12 months for Amazon to drop the price to £20 Blush
