I call mine Mavis....She's mature Grin

BazingaBaby · 27/08/2018 09:29

All my cars have had names, my first was Meggy (Renault megane coupe), then I had Hubble (Honda civic), followed by Tiff (MG TF) and Peg (mini convertible). Our current cars are Millie (Mini Cooper S convertible who is off road poorly) and Flash (big blue Quashquai) also occasionally called Baymax as he is not fast Grin

Giggorata · 27/08/2018 09:47

Christopher because it's a Renault
DH's is called that low-down dirty van, because it is.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 27/08/2018 09:51

My husband's is called Danny (its green) and mine is David (grey) 😝

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 27/08/2018 09:53

My brother used to have a red honda called Rhonda.

LaurieMarlow · 27/08/2018 09:56

We have a Volvo called Vincent (French accent obligatory).

DS (4) also refers to it as the 'trusty steed'.

cliffdiver · 27/08/2018 10:37

The car.

Never thought to give a car a name - and afaik no one I know does either unless they're too embarrassed to admit to naming a car.

sirmione16 · 27/08/2018 10:40

I used to call my Mini Cooper "little coops" Grin

LoniceraJaponica · 27/08/2018 11:28

What is it about naming cars? Like cliffdiver I don't know anyone who has given their car a name. It seems rather childish to me.

Rockbird · 27/08/2018 11:58

So? Do we have to be dull 24/7 once we hit 21?

WeirdCatLady · 27/08/2018 13:50

Cliff and Lonic, did you really just come on here to piss on people’s chips? If you don’t like it, feel free not to comment on a nice, lighthearted thread. Feel free to FTFO and discuss pension arrangements or some other suitably grown-up subject. I’ll bet you’re fun at parties Hmm

TheFogsGettingThicker · 27/08/2018 14:14

My first car was a white Peugeot 106 called Pegotty, it really suited her

Current car is a blue Golf called Danny, but seeing Rocco, would actually suit him better

SadieContrary · 27/08/2018 14:20

Mum Truck Hmm pretty much sums it up

whywhywhywhywhyyy · 27/08/2018 14:22

First car was Ruby, because she was red.

Current one is Larissa, the Nissan Leaf.

whiskeysourpuss · 27/08/2018 14:25

My mum is 62 & names her cars... every one of them has been Betsy she's not exactly inventive albeit she is clearly childish Hmm

mypoosmellsofroses · 27/08/2018 14:29

Nefer (She's a TT)

LaurieMarlow · 27/08/2018 14:31

Who cares if it's childish? What's so great about being an adult?

DS always asks people what their cars are called. He gets v confused if they don't have a name. Grin

ApollO88 · 27/08/2018 14:35

Lassie- coz she started beeping at me in a "Timmy is stuck in the well" kind of way to inform me that I had left the lights on. My previous car didn't do that.

CaptainCallisto · 27/08/2018 14:35

My first car had blacked out windows (not my choice!) and DH thought it looked like a Russian mafia car. We called it Sergei.

Our current one is metallic blue and looks like a flashy madam, so we call her Veronica Grin

honeylulu · 27/08/2018 14:37

Sparky (Chevrolet Spark).
The predecessor was Tizzy (Daewoo Matiz).
Husband has a people carrier we call "The Van".

pigsDOfly · 27/08/2018 14:47

I'm amazed at how many people name their cars. Do you actually use the name as in 'I'm taking Doris for her MOT today'?

The first time I came across someone naming a car was when I had a rather nice white sporty number and the man I was seeing at the time insisted on referring to her as 'the white lady'. Irritated the hell out of me and sounded utterly stupid coming from a fully grown man when he was referring to a an inanimate object. The annoying thing was that he insisted on using the name despite the fact that I never once called it that.

I don't name other things I own either: tv, fridge, cooker, house, laptop etc all remain unnamed. I just call them what the are, and in the case of my car it's simply called my car.

MsHomeSlice · 27/08/2018 15:07

we had a mini cooper called Mary, sheldon seemed too obvious.

i said to dh about the ford not having a name, he said it's because none of us like it and it smells.

DD's car is called Geoff, and the one before was Sergio. Both numberplate related.

abbsisspartacus · 27/08/2018 15:10

The pug or the skip depends if the kids have trashed it lately

IndieRar · 27/08/2018 15:11

First Lola, then Nina, now I have a Brian.

whiskeysourpuss · 27/08/2018 15:14

My George Foreman grill is always called George as in "get George out please?"

ThePants999 · 27/08/2018 15:25

Baymax. Partly because it's a B-MAX, but also because I'm satisfied with its care.
