I must admit that when I met DH back in the seventies I thought it was very odd that his mother's car had a name (taken from the numberplate). It was DS2 who started the trend by naming his first car, and it caught on with us. However although our current car has a name we rarely use it.

My car is called Hugh.

It felt like the right name.

I have only owned two cars in 20 odd years of driving. The eliminator - a Renault Clio in Old man maroon and my current ride a knackered looking yet utterly reliable 22 year old Toyota Corolla in bird shit splattered navy, nicknamed the dream machine.

There's a car that parks near my house with a reg plate, that when unscrambled has my first initial and nearly my surname (one number needed to be a '1' and it'd be my surname scrambled up. My DH thinks I'm unreasonable to ask the lad to sell me his car .
