In wanting to know the best amusement park in europe?

Posting here for traffic, sorry. Grin

We're coming to the UK in October and want to take ds to an amusement type park. He's a small 4 year old so I feel like Alton Towers etc will be lost on him.

Legoland I haven't been to in about 10 years but I wasn't that impressed.

I remember Efteling being incredible when I was his age, is it still amazing? I'm guessing flights to Holland would be cheapish.

Anywhere else incredible?

Disneyland Paris is a bit rubbish in my opinion. Unless he will be super excited by the characters, Europapark wins hands down.

And (unless it’s changed recently) you can take your own food in which was a massive bonus for us.

Lego land is hell compared to Paultons Park. It's not just Peppa pig world, they have lots of other rides for older children, and it actually manages to be a relatively pleasant experience. Lego land is so over commercialised, and has no charm. The queues were awful (around an hour) last time I went, which with young children is awful.
HOWEVER, both my children(4 and 7 year old boys) say they love lego land and are always begging to go back. I literally cannot understand why, but they do.

Smurf123 · 26/08/2018 19:39

Legoland in Billund Denmark is really good

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 19:43

He's really not in to Disney so I feel it might be a waste.

Don't suppose there's a sodding Octonaughtsland anywhere?

Paultons and Legoland are good. There’s an Octonaught ride at Alton Towers!
Do NOT GO to Gullivers in MK. Used to be great. Now it’s all broken, rusty, dirty and horrible!

SteveMcGarrettsBudgieSmugglers · 26/08/2018 19:46

Disney, Puy du fou, Futuroscope & Parc Asterix

Pompom42 · 26/08/2018 19:48

Port Aventura Salou

Had a fab time when we were there couple years ago, going to go next year

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 20:09

I like the look of port adventura.

Just seen they have an octonUghts room in Alton Towers but it's over £500 for one night!!!!

I found paultons park shite to be honest...

I know you want opinions on EU but how about Siam park? Tenerife? Amazing waterpark.

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 20:19

Ds isn't fond of water. ConfusedHmmAngry

You can get to Efteling from Eindhoven airport and a 30 min taxi ride. I went earlier this year, stayed in Landhuijs and loved it...

Next year I'm planning phantasia be cologne. There are age restrictions on some of the rides (you can see then clearly on the website) might want to check in advance if looking at that on.

Also interested in Europa and asterix...

bettycat81 · 26/08/2018 20:22

Puy du Fou is amazing and different from any other theme park I've been too!

ladyloopy · 26/08/2018 21:04

Love the look of pu du fouy but think it'd be wasted on ds at the moment.

Actually yes, had forgotten how good Puy de Foy was! If he's too young now it's a shame (been a long time since I was there), but he'd enjoy it when older.
Good to hear Europa is good for little kids.

neverhadanymarblestolose · 26/08/2018 22:03

Went to Efteling this year and my 6 & 3 year olds loved it. Stayed at loonsche land hotel, which was nice, but no hotel shop which I was surprised at given the number of self catering holiday homes. Their other holiday village does have one and better restaurant. We flew to Eindhoven and it wasn't far at all. Also stayed the new safari resort at Beekse Bergen, which was fantastic, waking up to a rhino or giraffe right outside our lodge patio was amazing!

DramaAlpaca · 26/08/2018 22:07

It's a few years ago now, but we absolutely loved Puy du Fou and Parc Asterix.

Gushpanka · 26/08/2018 22:11

Legoland in Billund is great. You can literally walk there from the airport so no need to drive.

MillieMollieMandi · 26/08/2018 22:19

EuropaPark! The best theme park in Europe by miles. The attention to detail is superb and they really cater for the whole family, not just those who love rollercoasters :)

CarolDanvers · 26/08/2018 22:23

There's octonaughts theming at Chessington but I don't really rate Chessington overall. We loved DLP but never been to Europa Park so couldn't compare.

donajimena · 26/08/2018 22:29

I'm in Alton Towers. Its fab but its pissed it down all day. Portaventura wins hands down. Theme park plus sunshine.

dontevenblink · 26/08/2018 22:29

Another one here saying Parc Asterix. Took a load of our yr 7 students there (about 10 years ago mind) and we all had a great time. I much preferred it to Disney where we went year before. It has rides and marine life and was big enough to not feel crowded. Plus I was like a big kid myself as I adored Asterix books as a child 😊

BlancheM · 26/08/2018 22:29

Europa park

PaulAnkaDog · 26/08/2018 22:37

Europa Park lover here! Been to Efteling, Parc Asterix, Disney, Portaventura, Gardaland, Alton Towers etc. Nothing even comes remotely close to Europa Park. Go every year!

JillianHoltzmann · 26/08/2018 23:05

Phantasialand, hands down. No question.
