I just googled beer and found the beer Church of England primary school. I'm guessing the place is named because of a brewery or something? But why is nasty called nasty? Or do I really want to know? Maybe it's particularly nasty weather?

I don't know the answer but it's worth a visit. Lovely place!

noteveryonescupoftea · 26/08/2018 11:38

I live near somewhere called Slip End

I always thought that was an awful name!

AlliKaneErikson · 26/08/2018 11:43

Do you mean Beer in Devon? I’m pretty sure it’s nothing to do with the drink ‘beer’, but just derives from a similar word; it’s a very old village.
I live near a place called Undy!

Whoever made that map needs to try much much harder Grin

Not too far from me is a place called Catbrain. It's very small. Grin

A village near me has a street called Bell End, I snigger every time as I am such a child.

WegmansCookies · 26/08/2018 11:49

I think Beer has something to do with bees... not sure though. I used to live near Bunny, thought that was amusing. Now I'm in Germany not far from Wank Mountain.

Babyroobs · 26/08/2018 11:49

We drove through Norfolk last week and I told my husband an appropriate place for him to live would be Great Snoring !!

Lisabel · 26/08/2018 11:50

I think there's a Willie, a Homer and a Wigwig near me.

Hoppinggreen · 26/08/2018 11:50

I live not far from a place called Penistone
Never occurred to me it was rude as it’s pronounced to rhyme with “Denis” rather than peenis like the male member until someone visiting found the signs hilarious!

MawkishTwaddle · 26/08/2018 11:51

I live near a place called Wetwang.

I also regularly drive past a place called Hampole, which my childish brain has rechristened 'Pork Sword'.

KavvLar · 26/08/2018 11:53

Not far from Fingringhoe

BikeRunSki · 26/08/2018 11:54

I also live near Penistone, which isn’t really funny, but I work with someone who’s surname is Penistone, so his driving licence number is quite entertaining.

I used to live near Carsick Hill in Sheffield. It is very steep and bendy.

ludog · 26/08/2018 11:55

There's a place in Ireland called Muff and another called Nobber. Grin

Cookies, where is the wank mountain? Is that somewhere in Bavaria?

And yes, I thought beer had a brewery nearby or something.
