To ask if anybody lives in one of the UK's oddest place names like beer, nasty, etc.?

I just googled beer and found the beer Church of England primary school. I'm guessing the place is named because of a brewery or something? But why is nasty called nasty? Or do I really want to know? Maybe it's particularly nasty weather?

There's a road a couple of miles from me in Tottenham called Black Boy Lane, which I think is a strange name.

There's a village in East Sussex called Blackboys.

It's in the Sussex Weald, where they used to do a lot of charcoal burning and supposedly alludes to the sooty faces of the charcoal burners.

It's not far from Hadlow Down. One drunken night, my friend made up a song that had a chorus that repeated

repeated over and over again, at ever increasing speed. At the time, we found this rather weak joke hilarious and I still can't see the words "Hadlow Down" without sniggering, more than 20 years later.

I cycle past a Bell End Farm sometimes. I always think I'd change that if I were the farmer.

There's a place near here called Bell End. My ex husband lives there. Very fitting.

I have a bitchburn and a pityme nearby... 🤣
