I know there was a Dawson's Creek thread a little while back but I think this warrants its own rant. I'm watching on 4od, never got this far back in the day so am struggling to see it from an angsty teenage perspective, but have just seen the one where he finds out they've been snogging, and I just want to give him a good slapping. Sort yourself out lad! You split up over a year ago! And hardly because she broke his heart and waltzed off, he shopped her fucking dad to the police! He's a sanctimonious little dick!!

Gail was awful, but Mitch is also a terrible character in season one. He’s such a cocklodger and uses the excuse that he’s raising their son to basically do nothing. Then there’s the gross open marriage storyline. Just leave FFS! I can’t imagine how gross it’d be to know your parents were seeing other people.

Ah Pacey....brings back fond memories . I was always Team Pacey/Joey. Dawson is basically a wet blanket. I've still got the 6 season box set on my book case...and yes I am over 40 but just can't bring myself to part with it

Pacey is still my dream man. I rewatched it whilst pregnant with my DD and left my husband a rambling, hormonal, weepy voicemail thanking him for being my Pacey, haha. So embarrassing!

I know what you mean catstring, I love my partner and family to distraction but the thought of never falling in love in that way makes me feel a bit...flat. I guess that's why so many people have affairs in middle age.

My partner and I were part of an awkward sort of love triangle when we got together, I think technically I'm his Pacey. Hmm.

My favorite 2 episodes are the one with the snails in season 1 and the supermarket lock in in season 6. Joey and Pacey had such a connection. I think Joey mistook a family type love for true love with Dawson. Pacey needed to grow up a bit but he was always her true love. He actually thought about her as a person and encouraged her to be who she was, Dawson wanted to keep her as the girl from across the creek.

Also loved the Jack and Jen relationship that was lovely.

I managed to forget I'd ever seen the last 2 episodes.

The scene that really brings out my Dawson rage is when they are at the school dance. Joey is gutted he has forbidden her to be with Pacey, Pacey is obviously putting on a brave face. But Dawson doesn’t care as long as he gets what he wants. What a wanker.

Have loved JJ since Dawson’s Creek with his angst. He is still number one on my ‘celeb list’. He’s awesome in the Affair.

But compare these two to today’s teen boys who will just be jacking off in their rooms to some boundary pushing porn.

I was all about Dawson to start with. And then gradually you realises he is a nasty, selfish, spoiled, entitled dickhead to whom everyone only matters in terms of their relationship to him and don't matter for themselves. You can see this in his obsession with film, he's the star, Pacey is the sidekick, Joey is the love interest and will play that part if he wants because he's the star.

I think, eventually they realised that they made Dawson so obnoxious no one could relate and realised Pacey was the much more well liked and made him the romantic hero.

Loved the supermarket lock in and also the earlier episode when Joey runs to sail off with Paddy. I did wonder though if they then turned back to get Joey's clothes and stuff!!

It was so unlikely that they didn’t shag all summer on that boat. I’d like to think a modern version would include that.

I used to love Dawson’s Creek. Definitely loved P&J. My DH has a couple of mutual friends with JJ and the times I’ve met him I’ve had to stop myself from accidentally calling him Pacey . Try to avoid him now for fear of embarrassing myself!
