To think Dawson should back the fuck off and let Joey and Pacey get on with it?

I know there was a Dawson's Creek thread a little while back but I think this warrants its own rant. I'm watching on 4od, never got this far back in the day so am struggling to see it from an angsty teenage perspective, but have just seen the one where he finds out they've been snogging, and I just want to give him a good slapping. Sort yourself out lad! You split up over a year ago! And hardly because she broke his heart and waltzed off, he shopped her fucking dad to the police! He's a sanctimonious little dick!!

Phew, feel better now I've got that out Grin

I watched the whole thing recently! Team Pacey definitely but Dawson telling the police about Joey's dad was the right thing to do and he did it out of concern for Joey even though he knew she'd hate him for it. A brave decision.
He did over react about the kiss though!

pigsknickers · 23/08/2018 20:37

Yeah you might be right popfan, tbh I was a bit bored at that point and wasn't really paying attention - wasn't he being unbearably self-righteous about it though?
In any case, it was ages ago, and there was all that massively unbelievable carry-on with Eve, and he told Joey he didn't want any more drama with her - at that point she's off the hook isn't she?
This sort of thing used to happen with my friends all the time when we were teenagers, we often ended up going out with each others' exes - there's a bit of a limited pool when you're 16! I don't remember anyone ever being this intense about it. I'm missing the point aren't I, these teenagers are intense to the point that it's hilarious. Whatever, the kids are asleep so it's time to crack on with the next episode Grin

#TeamPacey😎

WhispersOfWickedness · 23/08/2018 20:55

Definitely Team Pacey here.

Having said that, JVDB has improved immensely with age, I follow him on Instagram and he has a gaggle of small blond children who all make my ovaries ache.

Popfan · 23/08/2018 20:57

Tbh they are all pretty annoying! A great watch tho - have you read in advance what happens at the end?!

EnglishGirlApproximately · 23/08/2018 21:01

I tried to rewatch it recently but couldn’t get past three episodes as Dawson annoyed me so much. He’s a miserable, self absorbed little shit. Love Pacey though, and the grown up JJ.

pigsknickers · 23/08/2018 21:04

I did actually randomly watch the last episode when it was first on so I l know how it all pans out, but I've got no idea how they get there so it's still got me gripped!

Wasn't there a really funny Dawson piss-take scene in one of the Jay and Silent Bob films? I'm totally on board with the idea of JVDB being a lovely human. Dawson still a twat though.

It's a good ending!

museumum · 23/08/2018 21:08

Pacey is sexy as hell. Joshua Jackson still had it in Fringe.

WhispersOfWickedness · 23/08/2018 23:35

Just to warn you, it all loses its way a bit in the last two seasons once they all go to university. Some quite bonkers storylines. Also the seasons where Joey discovers hair straighteners Grin The only redeeming feature of the last two seasons is the character Audrey. I love that she is now real life BFFs with Michelle Williams Smile

HavingALittleBabyToolshed · 23/08/2018 23:43

Even as a teenager I could see Dawson as the toxic, demanding twat he was. What a wet yoghurt.

pigsknickers · 24/08/2018 09:31

Thanks for the heads up whispers. I've just watched Joey and Pacey sail off into the sunset and not sure they're going to be able to top that - perhaps I should stop watching now!

Team Pacey. And Joshua Jackson is amazing in The Affair. He’s a brilliant actor and beautiful with it.
Dawson’s creek does get a bit stupid when they go to uni. But there’s a great episode where Joey and Pacey get locked in a supermarket overnight and Joey shaves Pacey in the morning.

MaureenMLove · 24/08/2018 09:47

I watched the whole lot at the end of last year and as I couldn't sleep last night, I found one of my favourite episodes to watch.

It's late on, series 6 I think. It's the one where Joey and Pacey get locked in the supermarket. Love it!! Pacey all the way for me!

MaureenMLove · 24/08/2018 09:48

Ooh, spooky! GrinGrin

IndigoLamp · 24/08/2018 10:04

Great minds think alike MaureenMLove !!

youricloudisfull · 24/08/2018 10:09

James is hilarious in the B in Apartment 23. Great show

JellyBaby666 · 24/08/2018 10:24

My friend and I love Joey & Pacey so we started a rewatch but avoided seasons 1 & 2 as Dawson is so annoying and without the lure of JP I lost interest.

Dawson is so whiny and existential its exhausting.

I'm enjoying it less on a rewatch, they just TALK SO GODDAMN MUCH. Which I know was their USP but oh my days. Be quiet.

dingdongdigeridoo · 24/08/2018 10:51

Dawson is from the Ross Gellar school of entitled ‘nice guys’. He seems to think he has some special connection to Joey and that she’s done something wrong by moving on. His attitude about her losing her virginity was especially gross.

Glad to see that JJ and JVDB are both really handsome now. Ditching the 90s dad clothes really helped. I’m sure there’s a scene where Dawson is wearing white socks and sandals. It was a grim decade.

iklboo · 24/08/2018 11:01

DH & I joke about Dawson's type dialogue:

I feel you
I feel you feel me
I feel you feel my feelings
I feel you feeling my feelings
I feel you feeling my feelings feelingly. With feeling

I could never get over Dawson seeing Joey as a "thing" to own, particularly when he demands to know if she's slept with Pacey. Urgh.

Season 3 is the absolute best for the whole of the second half but for the first few episodes (Eve, Joey pulling off her top and offering to shag Dawson) they had a new showrunner who boasted he had never watched it so the tone went completely Ferris Bueller. I think if that'd carried on it would have got canned.

I was always so bored with Dawson's storylines. Like, no-one cares about Boring Gretchen, or his parents' dysfunctional relationship.

IndigoLamp · 24/08/2018 11:32

Don’t knock Mitch and Gail. Poor Mitch. Why did he bend down in the car to pick up his ice cream!?!

pigsknickers · 24/08/2018 11:33

Aha so that's what was going on! Those first few episodes were so out of tune with the rest of the series. The storylines were gross (stripper party??) and the production was all totally off. I thought maybe new producer and was going to stop watching but glad I ploughed on.

pigsknickers · 24/08/2018 11:36

Puzzled and intrigued by the Mitch ice-cream comment!
