AIBU to think that everyone can bite their toenails

Settle a debate. I’m not saying I do or have. But if you chose to bite off your toenails could you?

I'm nearly 50. I can just about do it.

DrFoxtrot · 23/08/2018 00:08

I can't Blush I'm slightly annoyed that the option is no longer there!

VeniVidiWeeWee · 23/08/2018 00:09

I use clippers and then bite them. Does that count?

ShinyMe · 23/08/2018 00:11

I have always assumed I could, as I'm pretty bendy and did ballet quite seriously until I was about 20. I'm 45 and quite fat but I'm still fairly bendy. However, I just tried and I can only do it on the right side now - the left is a few inches away. I'm shocked with myself. I need to work on my flexibility, obviously.

ShinyMe · 23/08/2018 00:12

I can still put my palms flat on the floor behind my feet with straight legs though, so it's not all doom and gloom.

PickAChew · 23/08/2018 00:14

Not any more. Ds2 use to spend hours nibbling his.

Both hypermobile but I'm at the point where it's all falling apart and hurty.

MilkybarGrownup · 23/08/2018 00:16

I am 36 and as far as I know, in decent health. I'm a little chubby (size 14-16) but omg my body is failing me. My joints all ache, I make weird noises when I stand up and these days with my back I can't get close enough to my feet to put my own socks on or tie shoelaces sometimes. Getting my foot up towards me to put a sock on is like trying to do the splits when you are someone who just can't. It hurts and the muscles won't give enough to stretch.

As a kid though? Yep, I could bite my toenails. I didn't though because feet are fucking nasty and there's a good reason they're at the far end of a body! 🤢

Hiphopopotamus · 23/08/2018 00:18

@ShinyMe - I think your achievement is superior to a toenail bite! But it’s all I have flexibility wise!!

Tomatoesrock · 23/08/2018 00:25

No I do not think everyone can. I am 38 active and bendy, I can but only the right foot and the big toe, my toes are long too so easier to reach, it is not easy any longer than a minute and I would pop a vertebrae.

RavenLG · 23/08/2018 00:35

I could, JUST. Although my front tooth is a build up after knocking half of it out on a drunken night out falling over in the snow, so I don't think it's strong enough to get through now.
DP - absolutely no way. He's as flexible as a steel rod. I don't even think he could touch his toes!

gonnabreakmyrustycage · 23/08/2018 00:38

I can too - I’m early thirties

dancinfeet · 23/08/2018 00:38

surely it depends on a few things - such as hip and hamstring flexibility?

WhatInsect · 23/08/2018 00:40

@ShinyMe exactly the same here!! And I’ve noticed my left side getting stiffer when I try to put tights on too. Do you know what muscle we need to target to make it looser?

BakedBeans47 · 23/08/2018 00:41

Not me, I’m 45 and fat.

My 9 year old can (and does Envy (not envy)) though

LilMadAgain · 23/08/2018 00:43

I can make my foot reach my mouth but I nibble toesies for no person op Wink I am somewhat proud that I can bend completely forward with both hands flat on the floor by my feet despite being morbidly obese (size 26).

LemonysSnicket · 23/08/2018 00:46

I can, DP and friends think it's wierd that I can touch my forehead with my toes and can't get theirs close

LemonysSnicket · 23/08/2018 00:47

Oh, but I'm also hyper mobile, my elbows bend backwards and flat hands on the floor is pretty easy

LilMadAgain · 23/08/2018 00:49

Lemony isn't is marvelous how bodies can be so different?? My husband is made of concrete I swear it, he can't even place the sole of his foot against his leg like the yoga position and it's an easy one Grin I'm absurdly profoundly obese but my legs can still get up behind my head... What's up with that?? Confused

CaseStudyResearch · 23/08/2018 01:01

29 tomorrow and I can. Little toes on both legs too. Also hypermobile.
DH is always fascinated at how bendy I am.

tor8181 · 23/08/2018 01:49

couldnt if i wanted to

im 5ft 9 with 35 inch legs, size 12 feet(mans)and J/K cups

theres no way my toe nails are reaching my mouth

but my 13 y old whos 6ft and size 11/12 feet can

ferrier · 23/08/2018 02:00

Nope. I'm over 50 but not fat, just got tight hamstrings or back I think as the hips seem willing enough!

I can do the flat hands behind the feet enough which you'd think would use the same .... Confused

EBearhug · 23/08/2018 02:05

I can get my feet to my mouth. I'm not biting any toenails, though. (46, 5st overweight, but I do do yoga.)

Magicmonster · 23/08/2018 02:07

I can. I will admit to biting my toenails too. Although now I am in my 30s it’s not getting as easy as it once was!

IhatetheArchers · 23/08/2018 02:13

Left foot only, right several inches away. I have a long body and little stumpy legs.

OldGreyBoots · 23/08/2018 02:22

Early 20s, not hypermobile, can reach.
