To ask you what is your favourite chocolate bar?

Inspired by the "what the fuck have they done to chocolate?" thread where many of us are on a quest to find the best milk chocolate bar now that Cadbury's doesn't taste like Cadbury's, can I ask you to share your favourite chocolate bar (not literally Grin) and say what it is about it you like? Eg the texture, the smell, the flavour itself (nutty, milky, creamy, bitter etc), creaminess... however you would describe it.

(According to another thread the Brits are obsessed with chocolate so I'm happy to prove them right Grin).

Galaxy Ripple for me. It's so silky smooth and creamy.

Gardai · 22/08/2018 22:48

New favourite after polishing off a bar of it just there - Love Cocoa’s honeycomb & honey. I may have to order more (and exercise more)

Pascha · 22/08/2018 22:54

If I had to pick one it would be giant buttons straight from the fridge, cracking in my mouth before they melt. But really, I will eat any.

Other favourites include:
Yorkie raisin and biscuit
Double Decker - eaten top first of course
Mint Aero - outer layer then inside
Toblerone
Dark chocolate KitKat - end-end-side-side-top-bottom-wafer to finish.

Currently Waitrose’s 49% milk chocolate bar. Not too sweet and rich chocolate flavour.

MammaSchwifty · 22/08/2018 23:03

The classic bars by cadbury/mars/nestle are inedible for me now, the recipes have been rendered totally unpalatable, and I'll never forgive cadbury for selling out like they did!

So, now it's all about the fancy schmanzy euro chocolate now:

Ritter sport (esp the white, milk, or dark wholenut)
A finnish brand called Karl Fazer. Their liquorice dragee flavour is out of this world.
Lindt dark wholenut
Lindt nocciolatte bars
Aldi/Lidl mint creme bars
Milka

Love the old jamaica too, not had that for years!

WhoopiGoldbergsCat · 22/08/2018 23:06

I discovered this in my local lidl last week. It's delicious and no palm oil!

Lovecocoa.com have got a special offer on sample bars and free postage with the code MUMSNET as a result of several of us emailing the company and telling James Cadbury (the great, great, great grandson of THE. Mr. Cadbury and owner) about our thread:

What the fuck have they done to chocolate?http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3339012-What-the-fuck-have-they-done-to-chocolate

I ordered on Saturday afternoon before this offer and got 10% off and free delivery. It arrived today and is really, really good. It's not Dairy Milk but it's the best chocolate I've tasted in a long time. I've now ordered some sample bars to go in Christmas stockings. They do a variety of different flavours. I can only vouch for the milk, and salted caramel and both are delicious. Lovely packaging, lovely smell, sharp snap as you break it, smooth, buttery, creamy, chocolate taste with no waxiness and no nasty aftertaste. No palm fat or other nasties in there either. Just high quality, ethical, brutish chocolate that's made with love and pride.(I don't work for them honest!).

Come and join us on the other thread if you're interested in discussing all the different chocolates and hearing about our taste tests.

I'm loving these threads Smile

I'm another Aldi Chili Cherry Chocolate fan. So good! So cheap! No Palm oil. Or failing that, Lidl's 80%.

I used to like Marabou's salted licorice, but they started adding palm oil :-( and then Ikea stopped selling it.

Growingboys · 23/08/2018 09:35

What is the M&S one that is like a posh Caramac?

I need that now. I've gone off all choc these days apart from super expensive ones.

I prefer a glass of wine and a bag of crisps these days. Is that an aging thing? I'm mid 40s.

BakedBeans47 · 23/08/2018 09:37

Aldi cherry and chilli dark chocolate

I love this!

Also ALDI/Lidl hazelnut chocolate
Star bars
Peppermint Ritter

BakedBeans47 · 23/08/2018 09:40

I’m not the biggest fan of white Choco but the ALDI white choc with the mousse filling is lovely.

Also love raspberry ruffles but the sweets not the bars. The choco to filling ratio in the bars is wrong.

WilyMinx · 23/08/2018 10:21

Flake or Twirl. Maybe Twirl because it's less messy. But only the UK version. The Australian-made version is just plain gross.

Stringofpearls · 23/08/2018 10:32

I love most of the ones on here but also can't resist a Kinder Bueno, in fact I find all Kinder chocolate yummy. Also Milka Oreo is surprisingly yummy.

Babybearsporij · 29/08/2018 18:27

Ritter Sport Honey Salt Almonds.

Proper chocolatey chocolate, like it used it be. With pieces of honey salted almonds scattered throughout. The two tastes complement each other perfectly and it's heaven.

I bought LIDL out of them when they had them on offer.

Papergirl1968 · 29/08/2018 18:45

Ritter mint from Home Bargains, which I think are two for £1.50, and strawberry filled and orange filled chocolate from Home Bargains. Can’t remember the make - some foreign brand - but they’re only about 49p.
Walnut whips, either the original nestle or the M&S version.
Frys orange cream which you can occasionally get from Wilkinson’s.
Morrison’s have an orange own brand version of After Eights, which are nice.

Papergirl1968 · 29/08/2018 18:53

Was just having a look at a website called germanshop and I’m stunned by how many varieties of Milka there are. And Ritter.
I also came across this little gem...

OberonTheHopeful · 29/08/2018 19:10

Novi Nocciolato al Latte

Hertha · 29/08/2018 19:18

I can’t even remember the last time I had a chocolate bar (although I’ve had at a couple of Reese’s cups).

My favourite used to be Mars Delight but they were discontinued fairly quickly :(

rosiejaune · 29/08/2018 21:53

Vivani White Nougat Crisp.

Or maybe Vego.

Fruit & nut

JW1226 · 29/08/2018 22:07

I love a kinder Bueno smooth and creamy,
I also love after eights (minty and dark chocolate is my fave) , forrero rocher- I love the creamy inside and hazelnut and Terry's chocolate orange my favourite part is the core! Creamy and orangey !

TiffinBox · 29/08/2018 22:10

Bounty atm. I could eat a box full but I'm rationing myself to two bars a week daily as I don't want to get gestational diabetes.

JeanLouiseFinch · 29/08/2018 22:13

Definitely those Lindt balls in the red wrapper. I do also occasionally fancy a toffee crisp (or 4 for a £)

Monday55 · 29/08/2018 22:15

The blue coloured one in the "quality street box", I think it's coconut flavour. Love it!
