To think it's odd that any thread that mentions Christmas or Brexit gets moved immediately

Just that really.

Every AIBU could probably be moved to a specific catergory on MM but they're not.

Just Brexit and Christmas ones do.

Why?

Is it really just a case of 'out of sight out of mind'?

Mainly because people report and moan like hell if they are posted in aibu

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 18:14

I know- that's why I'm asking.

They don't report threads on other subjects.

I reckon every thread on AIBU could be put in another subject.

Partly because sometimes the whole of active would be full of them.

At times there was 6/7 Brexit threads all in active at the same time. Same with Christmas at that time of year.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 19/08/2018 18:22

I find a lot of the relationship treads boring as hell... Maybe I should work harder at being bothered and report.

Thatsfuckingshit · 19/08/2018 18:27

Aibu is a kind if catch all section.

However, Christmas has dominated it before and it's not even anyone having issues around Christmas. Just simply talking about Christmas. There a section for that.

Same with brexit. Petitions get moved too.

It's usually because the subject has almost completely taken over a section, people complain and it gets it's own section.

Don't see the problem really. You wanna chat about brexit, go for it! Go to the Brexit section.

SilverySurfer · 19/08/2018 18:30

Because Brexit is going to happen yet people still start multiple threads whining about it and Christmas is months away.

Echo2 · 19/08/2018 18:32

What SilverySurfer said.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 19/08/2018 18:33

Neither is a reason to not talk about a topic Xmas Hmm

Helmetbymidnight · 19/08/2018 18:34

Petitions move quickly too.

It’s when they’re reported I’d guess.

My theory is a lot of people don’t like seeing Brexit ones because two years ago they voted Brexit and now realise what a monumental fuck up they’ve created and they are embarrassed.

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/08/2018 18:36

Helmetbymidnight

Interesting

My theory is that it was a massive bunfight, with lots of posters bitching about each other the threads got seriously repetitive and the rest of the forum got tired of seeing it.

BonnieF · 19/08/2018 18:39

Because it’s still fucking summer?

Echo2 · 19/08/2018 18:39

My theory is if you’ve seen one brexit thread you’ve seen them all.
Same people.
Same arguments.
All just very boring.

Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 18:39

Its sad that MN panders to those who do not want to understand the implications of Brexit.

I suspect that most of those who report the threads think the vote was a good thing
so the moving of the posts is in itself a form of political bias.

If MNHQ can prove that those who are against Brexit want it pigeon holed, I'd be delighted to hear it.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/08/2018 18:40

maybe, I guess people don’t like or understand politics and like to pretend it won’t affect them.

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/08/2018 18:41

My theory is a lot of people don’t like seeing Brexit ones because two years ago they voted Brexit and now realise what a monumental fuck up they’ve created and they are embarrassed.

My theory is every thread is the same groups of people shouting at each other arguing the same points over and over.

Oh and I voted remain.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/08/2018 18:42

I think you’re right, that is the attitude of a lot of people esp leave voters.

Brexit= boring/ go away and get on with it.
To those of us who don’t feel like that it’s bizarre.

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/08/2018 18:44

Nothing was gained by the early Brexit threads. It was nothing to do with understanding politics or the implications it was just a load of posters slagging each other off.

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/08/2018 18:44

esp leave voters.

and it begins again.

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/08/2018 18:45

I guess people don’t like or understand politics and like to pretend it won’t affect them.

Or maybe people don't like the insults and sarcasm that are thrown at them if they don't agree.

You have already had a pop at leave voters twice. Why would that want to engage?

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2018 18:45

Not all petitions get moved quickly.

The Brexit Deal petition gets sent to petition topic in seconds, the recent petition about holiday prices stayed in AIBU for hundreds of posts.

Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 18:47

I have to agree with Boneyback there
the vitriol was foul early on

but now we have this
www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45237152
which surely should be open for discussion on the most active board
of the most well known website
of the parents of the children who will pay for the mess
surely ????

bimbobaggins · 19/08/2018 18:47

I nearly posted this myself on a Christmas thread that was quickly moved out of aibu.
I don’t know why people start getting their knickers in a twist, if you don’t like a question about Christmas in August or whenever just don’t click on it.

Echo2 · 19/08/2018 18:47

That’s why you have a brexit section Helmetbymidnight so you can talk to like minded people about your concerns.
But from what I’ve seen when remainers & leavers get together it just turns into a ridiculous bun fight. Who wants that?
Do you?

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/08/2018 18:48

which surely should be open for discussion on the most active board

Unless people have hidden the Brexit topic it will still come up on active.

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 18:50

Because Brexit is going to happen yet people still start multiple threads whining about it and Christmas is months away.

That's why it's odd though.

Brexit isn't certain, and there's certainly no confirmed output.

Christmas happens every year and you can't change it no matter how much you'd like to.

Yet the reaction to both topics is the same - make it go away.
