To think it's odd that any thread that mentions Christmas or Brexit gets moved immediately

Just that really.

Every AIBU could probably be moved to a specific catergory on MM but they're not.

Just Brexit and Christmas ones do.

Why?

Is it really just a case of 'out of sight out of mind'?

when remainers & leavers get together it just turns into a ridiculous bun fight.
um because its the most important political decision for two generations
and according to the leavers their 52% of the vote
(around 33% of the electorate ~and 19% of the population)
gives them the will of the people

SillySallySingsSongs · 19/08/2018 18:50

if you don’t like a question about Christmas in August or whenever just don’t click on it.

Christmas maybe as they are more obvious usually in titles, but the Brexit threads aren't. It's not until clicked on that you see what they are and at the the time there were numerous threads some saying exactly the same thing cloging up the boards.

Helmetbymidnight · 19/08/2018 18:51

You have already had a pop at leave voters twice. Why would that want to engage?

my experience of brexiteers on mn is they don’t engage. They’re mostly full of crap.

Belina · 19/08/2018 18:52

Because they're boring

If this is your take on political discussion you can keep it, but it just goes to show why they don't engage.

fairgame84 · 19/08/2018 18:54

I was under the impression that Christmas threads have their own section because it's triggering for some people.

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/08/2018 18:54

Ta1kinpeace

Yet the numbers are even less for the last few governments and they were the will of the people.

Echo2 · 19/08/2018 18:55

Be glad they don’t want to engage with you then Grin

You've answered your own question. If you were them why would you engage if all you are going to get is vitriol and abuse.

Could very well be. It means people can hide it if they wish to.

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 18:57

And so are most of the other threads on AIBU.

and reversible at every election
UNLIKE BREXIT

Helmetbymidnight · 19/08/2018 18:59

Don’t worry, I’ve got no wish to engage with them anymore Grin
After two years of listening to the bullshit, I’ve come to the conclusion that anyone who still wants Brexit is a complete and utter donkey.

Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 19:01

Dear Brexit supporters

Please state the three things that will be better in your life after Brexit

Lots of love

TiP

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2018 19:05

Because they're boring

How? it's your whole fucking life, and the whole fucking life of your fucking family.

How is that boring? If that's boring then give me an example of something that isn't?

Bloody hell.

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 19:11

I can see some people aren't interested in Brexit as they don't think it affects them (yet)

What I don't understand is why people want it to be completely out of their eyesight?

Do people honestly think that makes it go away?

OP posts:
Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 19:13

Yes
and the button pushers who make MN hide it away are actually damaging the economic future of Justine's customers

just saying ....

Echo2 · 19/08/2018 19:15

Op. This is essentially a parenting forum where people come for support, maybe they don’t want brexit shoved down their throats. Hmm

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 19:17

It's not just Brexit though.

The exact same thing happens with Christmas threads.

It's beyond weird.

OP posts:
ALemonyPea · 19/08/2018 19:19

YABU op, and a GF. Were the hell are MNHQ going to put this thread, they’ll have to create a Christmas/brexit subject now. Or maybe Christmas and Brexit are the same thing. Has anyone seen either of them in the room at the same time.

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 19:21

alemony I know! What a quandry! 😂

OP posts:
Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 19:23

Actually, when you think about it Christamas and Brexit have a lot in common.

Both are based on a shed load of lies and cost a fortune!

Yup, I'm a parent

I have one child about to study in Europe under the 25 year old Erasmus Scheme.
I have no idea how she will get home after April.

My other child has signed up for a degree that originally had European modules but they are gone.

My husband works across Europe under reciprocal agreements that will be gone by this time next year

but hey, MN is just for Parents and who gives a shit about Brexit Hmm

ThenCameTheFools · 19/08/2018 19:29

The Christmas threads are triggering (sic) for people who think they run Mumsnet. I'm not interested in telly, vaping, gaming, pushchairs, conceiving and any number of other things. I just can't imagine having the time on my hands to get harumphy about them being in the wrong section.
I expect Brexit moaners are the sort of people who say politics bores them because "they're all the same"
I have learnt a lot from the threads, good and bad, same with the trans ones.
And I can tell you at fifty paces where the best giftwrap is. Wink

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2018 19:30

I'm a parent and I have two dogs and I worry I won't be able to visit my family in Europe with the dogs come Brexit.

Don't I deserve some support, Echo2 ?

Echo2 · 19/08/2018 19:33

Yes of course you do, and I’m sure you’ll get lots of support on the brexit board from other parents in your situation.
But how is arguing with leavers going to help & support you?
