To think it's odd that any thread that mentions Christmas or Brexit gets moved immediately

Just that really.

Every AIBU could probably be moved to a specific catergory on MM but they're not.

Just Brexit and Christmas ones do.

Why?

Is it really just a case of 'out of sight out of mind'?

I’m not arguing.

I just want to be able to share my petitions the same way the parents who want to travel outside of school holiday times do.

Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 19:43

echo2
and I’m sure you’ll get lots of support on the brexit board from other parents in your situation
not the point
Brexit is for ever
and it is totally unquantified
its like voting for a permanently blocked toilet

GhostofFrankGrimes · 19/08/2018 19:43

The days of denial are numbered. Come March expect the AIBU board to be full of people complaining about not receiving their Brexit dividend cheque in the post.

Brexit is for life not just for Christmas.

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 19:46

I think this is what I find so frustrating about Brexit- those who chose it just want it to to be done and dusted without it darkening their doorstep ever again.

Likewise, Christmas magically happens on 1 day, with no other thought required.

Brexit- it’s been over two years now and we’re all brexited out.

Christmas- it’s August.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 19/08/2018 19:47

and I’m sure you’ll get lots of support on the brexit board from other parents in your situation

That's the thing though, some people expect they will be in a better situation. Good luck with that!

Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 19:55

Cos like its not happened yet
and if it is a hard brexit, stack those cans of beans

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 19:55

Brexit didn't 'happen' in June 2016

The sooner people realise that, the better for everyone,

I mostly look at active so it makes no difference to me.

cardibach · 19/08/2018 20:02

Bearbehind · 19/08/2018 20:05

But my point is, why, if some people want to talk about it, do others find it necessary to ensure it gets completey erased from their view.

Surely you could just not click on it.

OP posts:
runningkeenster · 19/08/2018 20:17

At times there was 6/7 Brexit threads all in active at the same time

Oh the horror of it. The most important thing that is going to happen to this country as a whole since 1945 and it gets hidden away because a few people report to MNHQ. You have to know where the Brexit section is to find it (at least it doesn't show automatically on my computer, not sure if it works better on the app).

As for hiding Christmas threads, well people don't have to read them. Can't people just scroll past? I don't read every thread by a long way.

There's a post in AIBU at the moment about someone's child getting a red mark on them in nursery. Should't that be in the relevant thread and not AIBU?

AIBU to think AIBU isn't an AIBU section but just the section with the most traffic, so people post here?

SunnySkiesSleepsintheMorning · 19/08/2018 20:18

I don’t know why but many of the people who post on the Brexit threads just want to rant and rave and don’t listen to the other side. There are insults flung. I am a remainer and I think Brexit is a hideous thing but I respect there was a vote, even if I massively disagree with the outcome. I manage not to slag off the others but many people struggle with this.

With regards to Christmas, I think MNHQ just got bored of the anti Christmas bunch complaining, so they humoured them with a board. Grin I’m fairly indifferent to Christmas but I do like pigs in blankets and mince pies.

SilverySurfer · 19/08/2018 20:30

No-one is saying you can't talk about these subjects just that if you wish to do so there are boards dedicated to them. It's not rocket science is it.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 19/08/2018 20:35

Tons of threads that could belong in other topics are in aibu or chat but don't get moved.

The question is, will this thread get moved to Brexit or Christmas?!?

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 19/08/2018 20:43

Were the hell are MNHQ going to put this thread, they’ll have to create a Christmas/brexit subject now. Or maybe Christmas and Brexit are the same thing. Has anyone seen either of them in the room at the same time.
Don't forget the trans threads Grin

pandarific · 19/08/2018 21:18

@AndhowcouldIeverrefuse ooooo you've put the cat among the pigeons now. Grin

Brexit, Christmas and trans issues - the holy triad of boring bunfight topics on which the same circular arguments go around and around and around.

This is a forum that is essentially entertainment - most people really don't want to read endless variations of the same arguments and it's annoying when the above clogs up AIBU.

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/08/2018 21:53

Ta1kinpeace

The point that you and others conveniently forget is that if you support first past the post this is the type of thing that you will get.

Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 21:57

FPTP is shite but reversible every four years
Referenda are for ever

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/08/2018 22:05

Ta1kinpeace

again you miss the point.

vodkaredbullgirl · 19/08/2018 22:08

both are boring as hell lol

Ta1kinpeace · 19/08/2018 22:09

What point did I miss?
FPTP elections and referenda are not the same things after all

BoneyBackJefferson · 19/08/2018 22:18

I'm on about democracy and the voting process.
