I haven't really shared this with anyone in RL yet, because I get a bit embarrassed about this sort of thing. But, under the cloak of anonymity, I'm going to have a bit of a boast.

I got a grade B in A level Classical Civilisation today - and I was just one mark off a grade A overall, with 94/100 in one of the papers.

This was just a 'hobby' and I've really loved the subject matter. I'm flippin' chuffed.

There. As you were.

Brilliant OP!!!

(But def ask for a remark Grin)

Is it not something you could take up at Open University? The same rules apply for costs as a regular degree, you mightn’t pay anything depending on your future salary.

ibblebibbledibble · 16/08/2018 16:49

Brilliant, well done. Hope you get the chance to study it further. I love it when people are really passionate about a subject.

akerman · 16/08/2018 16:50

Congratulations sally - it's one of the best subjects in the world!!

akerman · 16/08/2018 16:51

Oh and YANBU!!!

SallyOMalley · 16/08/2018 16:51

I'm feeling teary now. You're all so kind!

It's been a bit of a lonely journey at times because I did the course via distance learning. The materials were excellent, but there was little participation from other students on the course (apart from a lovely retired gentleman at the other end of the country from me!). I sat my exams at the local school, which was a little strange - I was old enough to be the other students' mother!

So, to celebrate? I already have champagne chilling in the fridge. Grin

You should have joined in our A Level results threads!

Well done.

Can't you do a degree with the OU at your own pace.

Congratulations! That's so great!

It can be so tough to peruse something like this whilst juggling everything else in life. Bravo!

I'm considering an MA but keep bottling it!

What company did you use please? I'm trying to find one as cloudlearn only have normal history and I want either ancient history or classical civilisation!

Giraffey1 · 16/08/2018 17:14

Go you!

aintnothinbutagstring · 16/08/2018 17:14

Congrats! I think Classics looks really interesting, was watching a programme on the history channel about ancient greek scholars like Archimedes. I took a different route in my studying, Psychology, but would love to do a second degree in something like that. Am about to embark on a MA, can't wait!

CoolCarrie · 16/08/2018 17:15
