Title based on what a college professor used to tell us when the going got tough.

"Just remember when you're standing shoulder deep in horse shit, there's a pony in there somewhere. So just keep digging".

Non Oaf stuff, but may be of interest to other Remainers. It is a tiny light at the end of a very long tunnel for me. I can hardly express how angry I was at the imposition of being unwillingly stripped of my EU citizenship and passport. On top of everything else, it feels like a personal assault. Please support and share:

Permanent European Union Citizenship

European Union Citizenship

Main objectives
EU citizens elect the European Parliament and participate in its work, thus exercising treaty rights, enhancing Union democracy, and reinforcing its citizenship. Noting the ECJ’s view of Union citizenship as a ‘fundamental status’ of nationals of Member States, and that Brexit will strip millions of EU citizens of this status and their vote in European elections, requests the Commission propose means to avoid risk of collective loss of EU citizenship and rights, and assure all EU citizens that, once attained, such status is permanent and their rights acquired.

I know Gum.

theintercept.com/2018/08/21/james-mattis-resignation-trump/

On the Aerosmith point and as a piece of total trivia I recently watched Liv Tyler (his daughter) on the US version of Who Do you Think You Are? It was really interesting that they traced his ancestry back to an army drummer boy who played during the Civil War.

Both father and daughter were astounded by the musical connection and perhaps more so, by the fact that their ancestry was also shown to be African-American (from a slave).

He said he always felt a connection to black people -- when I heard about the Trump appropriation, it was the first thing I remembered...

NB: That is all I know about Aerosmith but I can talk Tolkien 'til the cows come home.

And so it begins..........

What other entities are going to want to talk to Cohen?

Teeing Cohen up for the Foundation case reminded me of that quote, from yesterday's TRMS, which Lweji posted upstream:
I don't know if you can indict a President. I'm pretty sure you can indict a President's company
Mikey's going to be a busy little squeaker.

I'm looking for calm atm because I can see a new normal being reinstated a few notches below the old normal. Confused

So, here is Pete Souza throwing shade with Obama's witch hunt.

'There’s one more reason why nobody will tell the mad king the hopeless truth that he’s surrounded, outmanned, outgunned, and that there’s no telling from where or when the next blow will come: The king is mad and doesn’t want to hear it. And his courtiers, seeking his favor, have either to convince themselves or play along with it. They do this both in talks with him privately and in their public utterances—to show loyalty, or because they are well paid to do so.

And thus we wait.'

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 22:04

In repealing net neutrality rules, the Trump administration failed to consider public safety threats as required by law
They had neither thought nor care.

Gumpendorf · 22/08/2018 22:05

What an appalling move by Verizon lion. What happened to the moral compass? The only thing that matters is money.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 22:09

You'll never see the Oaf relate like that to his own youngest son, let alone someone else's child. Obama has the touch because he truly likes children.

lionheart · 22/08/2018 22:13

This, by all accounts, could be worse than Cohen for Trump.

lionheart · 22/08/2018 22:17

Just watched a BBC report where they did the inevitable and interviewed Trump supporters, this time from Staten Island (Republican stronghold and pro-Trump).

'millions of people break the law'
'you might not like the human but I like what he's doing'

One Republican interviewed thought him disgusting.

'Just talked one of Trump's earliest supporters & true believers - very rattled - who's been talking to big GOP donors. They want to support Trump. They tried hard to ignore all the noise. They can't anymore. "They're over it. This is not how a president comports himself."'

Suddenly Repugs are all for law breaking.

eu.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/border-issues/2018/08/21/report-reveals-deficiencies-trump-border-wall-prototypes-san-diego/992770002/

'Trump's border wall prototypes fail design requirements and are riddled with deficiencies.'

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 22:33

Wittes: At any point—perhaps today, perhaps a week from now, perhaps after the midterm elections—Mueller’s grand jury could issue its next indictments, likely involving people on this side of the Atlantic. And, of course, nobody knows how quickly, if at all, the Southern District might choose to move against other Trump-world figures who are mentioned in yesterday’s Cohen plea filings or what they might seek to do with Cohen’s allegations against Trump himself
As the midterms draw nearer, surely, Mueller and NYSD will be wary of taking any action which could be pushed as 'interference' by this Administration? Although some unforseen circumstance might prompt a need for action, Mueller operates with such meticulous care and planning, I can't see him, otherwise, risking anything which could be used by the Oaf and his jackals to further undermine the credibility of his investigation.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 22:37

Trump's border wall prototypes fail design requirements and are riddled with deficiencies
Par for the course for any Oaf construction, thenWink

Mueller was head of the FBI for many years - and a Beltway insider. I doubt he hasn't planned his course. Smile

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 22:54

lion, that reminded me that, earlier today, I heard Jeremy Peters talking about big donors being put off. It made me think (and hope) that would be more of a push point for repugs as things pile up. A damning Mueller report might be the final straw, whatever spin and dirt Poxy Foxy, the Stepford surrogates etc., throw at it in desperation.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 22:58

I have great faith in Mr. M., cozie. One of my few comforts.Smile

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 23:11

For balanceHmm
One Republican interviewed thought him disgusting
What about a bit more airtime for non-trumpers, exploring their all their fears; for their country, the institutions supposed to protect them, their welfare, their future, their young children only knowing a POTUS who is a vulgar, degenerate, racist, criminal, compulsive liar. They have a better story to tell.

Firefighters Say Verizon Choked Their Data As They Battled Record California Blaze
A lawsuit over net neutrality sparks allegations of data throttling.
www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/08/firefighters-say-verizon-choked-their-data-as-they-battled-record-california-blaze/

Describing how his unit’s internet service had been throttled, Santa Clara County Fire Captain Justin Stockman wrote that a “device that can normally act like a modern broadband internet connection is slowed to the point of acting more like an AOL dial up modem from 1995.” His firefighters first began experiencing problems with internet speeds in the fire department’s command and control vehicle when battling the Pawnee Fire in late June. At the time, according to emails between Verizon and Santa Clara County Fire filed in court, a Verizon representative said the department would need to pay an additional $2 per month to restore the vehicle’s data to its normal speed.
[...]
In the emails, Verizon confirmed the throttling but would not budge on waiving the price increase.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 23:44

lion, I actually clapped (yes) when I first heard Weisselberg had been subpeonaed. A couple of months before that I had read somewhere that he, and Jason Greenblatt, of the Trump Org. we're probably the Oaf's most dangerous secret keepers, because revelations of dirty business practise and financial crimes would take him down. This is Greenblatt:
'Jason Dov Greenblatt (born 1967) is an American lawyer. He was the executive vice president and chief legal officer to Donald Trump and The Trump Organization, and his advisor on Israel.[2] In January 2017, he was appointed as an Assistant to the President and Special Representative for International Negotiations by President Donald Trump.'
