Title based on what a college professor used to tell us when the going got tough.

"Just remember when you're standing shoulder deep in horse shit, there's a pony in there somewhere. So just keep digging".

Trump on the hush money payments: "They didn't come out of the campaign. They came from me." (via Fox) https://twitter.com/foxandfriends/status/1032319321920430080/video/1

That poll, lion. Wow! The numbers are shocking.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 22/08/2018 19:27

I think Sneerah H Sanders is about to do a presser at the WH.
There should be a bingo card for her responses too

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/08/2018 19:28

presser on bbc 24. She's quoting scripture.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 19:43

Mitch and Lindsey, righteous men in the good old days:

cozietoesie · 22/08/2018 19:45

If Sessions survives now then he's GOT something. Wink

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 19:46

Ugh, one McConnell is more than enough, here's Lindsey:

Roussette · 22/08/2018 19:52

Lordy... the presser... bottom line

'The President has done nothing wrong'. X 12 (I lost count)

'I would refer you to the President's outside counsel' X 5

The press corp did not give up asking the same questions

CaveMum · 22/08/2018 19:52

Worth a watch: the grounds for impeaching Trump - set out in 1999.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 19:54

Is she doing the Sermon on the Mount, kitten, and plying the press corps with her home baked loaves and fishes from her very own fishin' hole. Praise be!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 22/08/2018 19:56

I'm just imagining Melania chasing him around the Whitehouse with a horse whip.

Rock legend @IamStevenT has sent a cease-and-desist letter to the White House demanding that @realDonaldTrump stop playing @Aerosmith songs at his rallies. The letter accuses Trump of "creating the false impression" that Aerosmith supports Trump.

AcrossthePond55 · 22/08/2018 20:00

mimi you've hit the nail on the head in your PP re impeachment. Clinton was impeached in the House but not convicted in the Senate and thus was not removed from office.

From everything I've seen it's not likely that we will be able to flip the Senate. And the GOP Senators won't vote to remove from office unless something truly egregious emerges AND the tide of GOP public support plummets. They aren't going to want the first POTUS removed from office to be a Repug. I think the most we can hope for is that Scrotus becomes a 'lame duck' well before the 2020 election.

Thanks for that, Cave Mum, I've been looking for it all day. Little Lindsey, when he was just a callow lad, untutored in the wiles of dirty politics, when right was right and wrong was wrong. Simpler, more honest times. Oh for those long forgotten daysHmm (Pity his nose is now as brown as his hair was then.)

AcrossthePond55 · 22/08/2018 20:06

What scripture? "Judge not lest ye be judged?", Let him who is without sin, etc etc". If she was going to be truthful, she'd be quoting "Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind", "It is easier for a camel to go through a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven".

Or perhaps this, the Gospel according to Mueller;

"And Jesus Mueller went into the temple of God White House, and cast out all them that sold and bought, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My The White House shall be called the house of honest governance; but ye have made it a den of thieves."

It was about the death of the lady they are capitalising on. Was too busy rolling my eyes to register which bit though.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/08/2018 20:08

I like the alternate suggestions Grin

What song were they playing ? Dude looks like a Lady?

May I suggest the 1991 Aerosmith instrumental "Circle Jerk".

Livin' on the Edge', apparently. Grin

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 20:16

And, Across, I think the Dems time would be much better spent all out undoing the Oaf's and his cohort's damage, and shoring undermined institutions. I'm guessing Mueller's report will be careful, thorough, and devastating. That could help swing 2020 to a Dem. (and it had better be a good one). The courts can deal with the Oaf mob family.

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 20:17

With no pardons available!

ohmymimi · 22/08/2018 20:19

Didn't the Stones do that? But they still use 'You can't always get what you want'.

ginandtonicformeplease · 22/08/2018 20:20

A new colleague of mine is a little bit Trump obsessed (yet doesn't know which political party are in power here Confused). All day she was buzzing that Trump would be impeached, but I can't help but think that he'll be voted back in in 2020. After all, GWB was re-elected after the invasion of Iraq.

Would a President Pence be any better than President Trump? If Pence does become president, Gilead won't be fiction for much longer. The best solution I could come up with was Trump having a fatal heart attack after one too many Big Macs, then Pence dying in a car accident - freak weather so nobody's fault - on the same day. No idea what the Speaker would be like as President though.

Just my musings after a long day at work Smile

cozietoesie · 22/08/2018 20:27

mimi

........Burdick v. United States, a 1915 U.S. Supreme Court decision that said that a pardon indicated a presumption of guilt and that acceptance of a pardon was tantamount to a confession of that guilt.

PerkingFaintly · 22/08/2018 20:42

TBF to your colleague, gin, I'm not sure what political party is "in power" in the UK.

I mean, the Prime Minister is from the Conservative Party, but not only are the Tories in alliance with the DUP, the PM seems more than a little easily swayed by anyone who shouts loud enough.
