To wear superdry in mid 40s?

One specific item...need it for work (think v corporate professional environment). I’ve not seen anything traditional I like near as much. I can’t see any obvious branding...it’s subtle.

Are all the young trendy grads going to laugh at me and accuse me of trying to be “cool”!

(I recall one of my bosses in his 50s wearing a Hollister sweater some years ago and it raised a few eyebrows!)

I still wear their stuff if it’s not obvious! I think that’s ok - with the logos all over it, definitely not, but a lot of their stuff is really nice and you can’t tell it’s Superdry at all (unless you peer at the tiny logo very carefully) - in which case, crack on!

ifeelsoextraordinary · 14/08/2018 18:48

shabooh is the quality any good? I’ve never bought anything from there before

Wear what you like, as long as it doesn't have any large obvious logo, it will be fine for work. DH and I both have a couple of winter coats from there, and DH will only wear their Polo shirts, as they are the only ones he can find that aren't made for big fat square people!! He is quite slim. He also only buys jeans from Hollister.... We are both mid 50's Blush

ForalltheSaints · 14/08/2018 19:00

I don't think being in your 40s is the issue. I just think 'fashion victim' when I see anyone with Superdry, Hollister or whatever the 'trendy' brand is at the time.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 14/08/2018 19:00

My brother is in his 40s and I've seen him wear Superdry. He's an extremely skinny runner type though - I think it would be tougher with a paunch.

OlderThanAverageforMN · 14/08/2018 19:00

I should add we used to buy a lot of stuff from GAP, but their quality has got so bad, we had to defect to Superdry and Hollister, we try to keep a low profile and don't go at weekends Grin

Pasithea · 14/08/2018 19:02

My dh is 70 and loves super dry hoodies for fishing.

OlderThanAverageforMN · 14/08/2018 19:02

ForalltheSaints Nothing to do with fashion, everything to do with quality.

MsJudgemental · 14/08/2018 19:12

I’m mid-50s and DH is mid 60s. We both have the odd Superdry item as they do some interesting patterns and designs.. Wouldn’t wear anything with a large, obvious logo whatever the brand.

EdWinchester · 14/08/2018 19:13

I think it's absolutely fine as long as you avoid the massive logos. And possibly the coats with the gazillion zips.

ProfessorMoody · 14/08/2018 19:14

YABVU for wearing it at all. Round here it's called "Superchav"

Growingboys · 14/08/2018 19:22

I like it and am mid 40s and work with young ppl. I don't wear it for work tho - just at the weekends.

I'm sure some young ppl will be along shortly to say Superdry is old hat and only for the 40 pluses!

Clandestino · 14/08/2018 19:26

My wardrobe is full of Superdry. Jeans, hoodies, shirts, pullovers, jackets. I am in my mid forties and don't give a fuck. It's good quality and nice. I would rather be buried in a Superdry hoodie than a naice flowery Boden dress.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 14/08/2018 19:26

The only thing my teen would wear from there is the ridiculous beanie hats.

I think it’s more about taste than age. Some people like it, some don’t. If the item suits your purpose go for it.

Teachtolive · 14/08/2018 19:28

I love Superdry stuff. Their coats are lovely quality. I wouldn't bat an eyelid if someone was wearing it at any age.

Benandhollysmum · 14/08/2018 19:29

wear what you like! Most people would not care what others are wearing as long as you ain’t turning up to work in your bra and knickers with a kiss me quick hat you should be fine

You may be in your 40s but you ain’t over the hill yet

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/08/2018 19:30

I'm 40 and have loads, I like it.

KateMcD451 · 14/08/2018 19:31

Why care what people think just because they've made fewer rotations round the sun than you have? This!

I am going to wear my Converse when I'm 80 and no one is going to make me feel bad about it do there Grin

ifeelsoextraordinary · 14/08/2018 21:38

Oooh split vote I see. The more j look at it, the more I’ve gone off it unfortunately. If it was just for weekend wear, the branding wouldn’t bother me. Its just that I need this item specifically for work. I’ll keep searching. I may hop over to style and beauty in search of the perfect Mac/ trench that doesn’t look too “ trenchy”

My mum wears some of their dresses (with leggings) and she’s 58!

Worryingly, we have some of the same dresses (I am 27 😂)

Chesntoots · 14/08/2018 21:57

I have a gorgeous tweed coat of theirs and a very flattering tight fitting dress.

The logos are very small and the quality is excellent.

I am in my mid 40's btw but wouldn't wear the big logo stuff.

morningperson · 14/08/2018 22:08

I love Superdry stuff and I'm mid 40s. I love their baggy tops, vest tops, hoodies and gym leggings. Always happy with the quality. So go for it if you like it, why not.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 14/08/2018 22:10

Superdry is for middle aged people isn't it?

That's what I thought anyway!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 14/08/2018 22:11

lol
