To wear superdry in mid 40s?

One specific item...need it for work (think v corporate professional environment). I’ve not seen anything traditional I like near as much. I can’t see any obvious branding...it’s subtle.

Are all the young trendy grads going to laugh at me and accuse me of trying to be “cool”!

(I recall one of my bosses in his 50s wearing a Hollister sweater some years ago and it raised a few eyebrows!)

Anyway YANBU get the thing if you like the thing Smile

If every item of clothing was from a certain brand then yes you would look like you are trying to hard, but if item looks good as part of an eclectic wardrobe then I think it could look great.

It’s about confidence and funding your style. I work in a very corporate environment and it look great when people inject something different into their usual style - regardless of age. In fact it’s the older folk in my office who have the best style!,

pinkhorse · 14/08/2018 22:24

It's called Superchav round my way too.

CrabbyPatty · 14/08/2018 22:27

I'm not sure Superdry is as 'trendy' as you think.... sorry. I would expect someone in their 40s to wear it. I think they are pretty regular looking clothes. But what would I know I'm 34. Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable :)

namechange2pointoh · 14/08/2018 22:39

Agree with crabby. I don’t know why anyone would accuse you of trying to look cool. Super dry is not cool. Certainly not after the age of about 15 around here

joinUsAgain · 15/08/2018 01:46

The quality's awful. Overpriced crap.

It was fantastic a decade+ ago but is now no different to other mass-produced clothing.

Why do you want to?

BlueJava · 15/08/2018 01:50

Who cares who it's "meant" for - if you like it wear it!

NothingOnTellyAgain · 15/08/2018 14:55

Agree with BlueJava Smile

If it's a plain item of clothing surely it's fine? DH only likes super dry T-shirts, they're the right thickness apparently. He definitely doesn't look like he's trying to be cool.

I’m 54. Wear loads of it. Logos on the lot. I wear what I like not what other people think
I should. My 16 yr old won’t go near it. Way too middle aged for her.

HowFastIsTooFast · 16/07/2020 15:52

Oooh I hope you can! I'm middle-late 30s and almost everything I own is Superdry (although none of it with the big garish logos). I've got some really dresses and tops I wear for my smart-casual work from there, and some glitzy evening dresses too.

I find their stuff really good quality, comfy, well-priced and on occasion I've needed to take anything back their customer service is 5*, go for it!

TempestHayes · 16/07/2020 15:57

So long as it's not got a massive logo on, sure. They make excellent casual wear. I've got really decent floral summer skirts and blouses from there, as well as my only white non-see-through shirts that are actually made to last.

Any recommendations? I too find many shops to sell little more than flimsy polyester garments that only last one or two washes on a gentle cycle.

I've had more luck with outdoorsy brands, to be honest, which are usually more ethically produced.

But if you could let me know of some other brands offering thick, non-see-through cotton items, lemme know.
