To take dds pet rodent with us in a no pets caravan holiday?

Pissedoffneigh · 14/08/2018 09:46

It's a well known British holiday site.
They do have pets on site but not in the nicer caravans.
It's a small pet rodent. Cage is secure and said rodent has never gotten out.

It might smell a bit but obviously can spray and air out the room.

I think the clue is in the bit where it says no pets

NoelHeadbands · 14/08/2018 09:47

Which bit of no pets are you struggling with?

GreenMeerkat · 14/08/2018 09:48

Has she not got a friend that will look after him for the week?

Aprilshowersinaugust · 14/08/2018 09:48

As an allergy sufferer I wouldn't be happy being in the caravan after you......

Snipples · 14/08/2018 09:49

I'd do it. They mean no cats and dogs and other animals that will rip up furniture and cause a mess. Just be discrete.

LeftRightCentre · 14/08/2018 09:49

I'd take it along.

MilesHuntsWig · 14/08/2018 09:50

YABU they're pet free for a reason. The unit would require a deep clean to ensure the next users don't have issues (in case of allergies etc).

Momo27 · 14/08/2018 09:50

Crack on. Because of course when they say ‘No Pets’ it clearly applies to every other member of the public but not you. You’re so spesh.

theunsure · 14/08/2018 09:50

I would - but then my grandparents used to take their 2 house rabbits everywhere (UK) with them when I was a child, so I didn't have the best role model in that regard. Those rabbits were every well travelled and even did a fortnight on a canal boat.
But don't expect many people to agree.

tigercub50 · 14/08/2018 09:51

Of course you can’t take it!

StylishMummy · 14/08/2018 09:51

And the next guest who may have asthma triggered by pet hair/bedding?

They have designated pet friendly vans for this reason! NO PETS MEANS NO PETS.

Fairenuff · 14/08/2018 09:52

I have a pet.

I have signed an agreement to have no pets in caravan.

AIBU to have a pet in a caravan?

Surely you can work this one out for yourself OP Grin

BarbaraHepworth · 14/08/2018 10:00

Presumably you get your rodent out to play with it more than once a day?

Every I know who has had pet rats has 'lost' them behind the sofa from time to time.

It's a No Pets caravan. That includes your son's rodent.

HelpmeobiMN · 14/08/2018 10:01

I wouldn’t in case of allergies for the next person. Would a friend or family member take it for a week?

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 14/08/2018 10:01

Entitled much?

girlalmighty · 14/08/2018 10:03

I'd be tempted. But I wouldn't.

Moonbear10 · 14/08/2018 10:11

I'd be tempted but would ask a family member or friend if they could look after it instead.

On the other hand, what about people with pets at home who stay in these caravans and she'd hairs from their clothings etc when they unpack? Does that cause a reaction the same as if the animal has been there? Genuine question!

MereDintofPandiculation · 14/08/2018 10:12

Imagine that, for whatever reason, it's really important to you to have a holiday in a pet-free environment. You therefore seek out a "no pets" caravan. Then you discover the previous renter had brought a pet (maybe there's a couple of droppings in an obscure corner, maybe your specifically pet induced allergy flares up, maybe the people in the next caravan, who've already been here a week, talk about the delightful rodent who stayed last year....).

OP, you may upset someone else's holiday and cause problems for the site owner when they complain and ask for a refund.

MissionItsPossible · 14/08/2018 10:13

Of course you’re being unreasonable

Mummyoflittledragon · 14/08/2018 10:16

Absolutely not. Some people have severe allergies and depend on other guests not to abuse the system.

If you call the holiday place, they may be able to upgrade another client and downgrade you to a place accepting animals. You’ll have to accept there won’t be a refund.

BounceAndJump · 14/08/2018 10:17

Id be more worried about how stressed it might end up travelling there, what if it's a hot day in the car, and the amount of time it's being bumped around. Would be much nicer to just pop it to one of his friends nearby houses or leave it with extra food and water and ask someone to pop in midweek.

Nesssie · 14/08/2018 10:18

Why would you want to? Just ask someone to look after it.
What a strange thing to consider Hmm

Disfordarkchocolate · 14/08/2018 10:19

As someone who avoids all furry pets I would be very unhappy to be the next guest. Please don't.

callkiki · 14/08/2018 10:20

If you want to make the nicer caravan less nice by breaking the rules, there is a chance you will get caught and asked to leave as you violated your agreement and no refunds and asked to pay for the unit to be restored to pet free clean standards.

If you take the rat, take it to a pet friendly caravan on site and don't ruin it for others.

Pissedoffneigh · 14/08/2018 10:22

I'm not being entitled or spesh at all that's why I'm asking on here first!
There are dogs allowed on site. There are dogs allowed in all caravans but the deluxe ones so I presumed rightly or wrongly that it would be a case of them not being allowed on the deluxe ones because they didn't want the brand new this years caravans wrecking rather than for allergy reasons.

It's not like I've posted that I'm doing it anyway and fuck everyone. I asked for opinions as to if it would be wrong to do so.
