To take dds pet rodent with us in a no pets caravan holiday?

It's a well known British holiday site.
They do have pets on site but not in the nicer caravans.
It's a small pet rodent. Cage is secure and said rodent has never gotten out.

It might smell a bit but obviously can spray and air out the room.

At first I didn't see any problem because the animal would be contained and not able to cause damage. But the allergy issue I think makes it a non-negotiatable. It's not very considerate at all to someone who maybe saved up for the nicer one deliberately to stop their allergies being triggered. There's plenty of pet sitter apps nowadays that will sort out care for it whilst you're away. Leave it at home.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/08/2018 10:22

Wouldn't it be quite stressful for the pet driving there and back, being in a new environment etc?

lottiegarbanzo · 14/08/2018 10:22

Ask them. They might just mean no dogs. They might not. Be open and honest and no harm will follow.

Uglybear · 14/08/2018 10:23

So selfish, I have asthma triggered by any animal with fur so deliberately only go to pet free accomodations.

lottiegarbanzo · 14/08/2018 10:24

Well, you've stated your problem - you've 'presumed, rightly or wrongly'. Now to the solution - find out if you're right or if you're wrong by asking the question of the site manager. Easy peasy, isn't it?

troodiedoo · 14/08/2018 10:26

No pets means no pets. Ywbu.

Bombardier25966 · 14/08/2018 10:26

On the other hand, what about people with pets at home who stay in these caravans and she'd hairs from their clothings etc when they unpack? Does that cause a reaction the same as if the animal has been there? Genuine question!

Depends on what the allergy is to, and how severe the allergy is. I'm allergic to dander, a bit of fur on clothing wouldn't affect me. On the other hand a friend is severely allergic and has to avoid any contact with animal products (not the right word but you know what I mean) and he would quickly fall ill if there were remnants of fur about. He's been hospitalised in the past with such severe reactions.

That's the point of pet free accommodation, to make it safe for people like my friend. It would be a shit move to do something that could cause another person such harm.

Jeanclaudejackety · 14/08/2018 10:26

Why would you want to?!!!!

Tika77 · 14/08/2018 10:26

I hope they see it and throw younout. I have pets and wouldn’t consider doing this, next family could be highly allergic.

Do you also

Bombardier25966 · 14/08/2018 10:26

Forgot quote marks!

viques · 14/08/2018 10:27

This isn't a teeny tiny Siberian hamster you are talking about is it OP? It's a rat. And if it is in a small carrying cage for transport you are clearly not going to be keeping it in there all week, it will be coming out for exercise and playtime. So yes, you are being very unreasonable. It's a pet free caravan, which you knew about when booking and have had plenty of time to find alternative holiday arrangements for ratty.

OliviaStabler · 14/08/2018 10:27

Crack on. Because of course when they say ‘No Pets’ it clearly applies to every other member of the public but not you. You’re so spesh.

😂😂😂

Butterymuffin · 14/08/2018 10:28

Given that they do have caravans where you can bring pets, it's very unfair to take one to a no-pet caravan. Ring and ask to change over. The consequence of taking a pet is accepting you can't have the deluxe caravan.

lottiegarbanzo · 14/08/2018 10:28

My question to you then is, are you presuming or assuming? They're not the same thing and imply different courses of action.

You presume you may and just get on with it, in a presumptuous manner.

You assume something is the case but are aware this is based only upon an assumption, not on fact, so you check the facts and proceed accordingly (or make a tit of yourself by turning up, getting into trouble, then saying 'but I just assumed').

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/08/2018 10:29

On the other hand, what about people with pets at home who stay in these caravans and she'd hairs from their clothings etc when they unpack? Does that cause a reaction the same as if the animal has been there? Genuine question!

I hadn't thought of that and I'm usually covered in a fine layer of cat fur!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 14/08/2018 10:32

Isn't there someone you can leave it with. I have looked after my neighbours hamster whilst they were on holiday. It's much better for them to have minimal disruption and they are pretty low maintenance pets.

Frogscotch7 · 14/08/2018 10:34

Not nice.

Pissedoffneigh · 14/08/2018 10:34

I've messaged them but they haven't yet replied so was asking people's thoughts. I've just looked at terms and conditions and it states no dogs in the deluxe caravans.
It's only a short drive so that wouldn't have been an issue.

Nice Tika. Obviously having a disabled child myself I wouldn't put another at risk. I was asking a question thinking they didn't want dogs to wreck the brand new caravans as dogs are allowed in all the other caravans and everywhere else on site bar the bar and restaurants.

Wasn't thinking of allergies tbh.

I would be a self entitled spesh twat and all the other things people have called me if I had took it regardless of the site saying no and knowing it was because of allergies.

As it is I've just asked a question!

Of course you shouldn't - it is selfish and breaking the rules you agree to when you booked

BulletWithABun · 14/08/2018 10:40

If someone brought a pet into one of our no pet units they would be asked to leave immediately and no refund would be given. This applies to any break of the terms and conditions, not just the pet issue.

If you are told you're not welcome to bring the pet when they reply and you choose to go ahead and do it anyway, please just be aware that they can insist you leave and you would lose the money you have paid.

Andtheresaw · 14/08/2018 10:41

YABU, but you know that.

BulletWithABun · 14/08/2018 10:41

That should say "could". You could lose the money you have paid.

troodiedoo · 14/08/2018 10:42

I'll eat my hat if they say yes.

bobstersmum · 14/08/2018 10:46

My mil was planning on taking her old smelly dog with her into a no pets caravan, she was coming with us and I'd booked the two caravans in my name, she didn't mention sky bringing the dog. She thought it was fine! I put my foot down and changed her caravan to a pet friendly one which was much older, but tough! Some people have asthma which is set off by pets, it's not fair.

Flamingo19 · 14/08/2018 10:47

I would. It’s hardly running around chewing furniture and shitting everywhere
