What he did was absolutely indefensible and he's done nothing but bring the Labour Party into disrepute since he became leader

I think multiple members of the Labour Party have done that. The infighting takes numbers of members.
I think he's a political nightmare for Labour, but he's defied the odds I gave him, and somehow really appeals to a large number of young people.
If ever there was a time for Labour to capitalise on the mess of Brexit, it's now - however, I don't think any party really fancies being at the helm after Brexit! Far better for 'the other party' to take the heat, then look forward to a long reign say 4-5 years down the line.

I think its fine to tell a black person that you don't believe someone is racist if that's what you believe. It doesn't make the black person always right about who is racist - just because they are black.

But I am genuinely interested to hear what specific behaviours or words Corbyn's used that are deemed anti-Semitic. Is it him personally, or is it his seeming lack of condemnation of other members of the Labour Party?

What are the things he's done / not done?

My2favboys · 13/08/2018 23:47

DaisyTwirl no I'm talking about the awful press coverage he got about supporting Sinn Fein or as the dup like to call them Sinn Fein/ira.
I would be curious to find out how much land Israel had gained from 1955 to the Munich? Did they watch people have their land/homes taken because of their beliefs? Im sure that the terrible acts carried out that day were done by traumatised people who were easily manipulated by others

Havabiscuit · 13/08/2018 23:50

bingpot. You speak for all Jews do you? Because there are plenty of Jewish organisations that are supporting Corbyns stance and are pretty disgusted at the treatment he is getting from a number of Jewish right wing organisations. They are just not getting the equivalence in the media that they should.

I can remember a time when terrorism was a word thrown at Mandela and others fighting the apartheid regime. Terrorism shifts its meaning through the perspective of history.

Yes everything I've seen so far has been against Israel and not Jews

Good luck if you ever try that on here Wink

Yes of course, we should feel sorry for those poor, misguided terrorists - mutilating, castrating & killing innocent athletes for the crime of being from Israel.

Ffs 🙄

Israel illegally occupies Palestinian territory. Let’s not forget that. Palestinians are asking for the right of return to the farms and lands that were illegally taken from them going right back to 1948. Israel however continues its occupation and every time there is a move to censure them in the UN America vetoes it.

My2favboys · 14/08/2018 00:05

DaisyTwirl and the difference being if they were from Palestine? would it be okay then? cause that's happening every day. now! not 30 yrs ago. they throw stones and israel throw bullets. and thank you for reinforcing my pointing out that it wasn't antisemitism it was anti israel. completely different things, I hope.

Havabiscuit · 14/08/2018 00:06

Why do we continue to ignore the Palestinians plight. It’s a running sore in the Middle East and has cost thousands of lives.

TornFromTheInside · 14/08/2018 00:09

We don't care about it.
That's the reality for most people. It's 'over there' and not 'over here'.

Thousands of people starve, lack water, die of disease - most of which could be stopped. Truth is, we actually don't care all that much.

MrsTerryPratchett · 14/08/2018 00:09

Can I ask? Is there a difference between anti Semitic and anti Israel?

It's more complicated than that. You don't have to be "anti Israel". You could be "anti expanding the borders of Israel, particularly by illegally occupying land and killing children in the process". The Jewish people I know are mainly anti-that too.

ginghambox · 14/08/2018 00:09

Wow the momenum boys are out tonight.

TornFromTheInside · 14/08/2018 00:12

There's a lot more money to be made from Israel than Palestine.

I can't for one minute imagine that could affect the policy of many governments though.

ginghambox · 14/08/2018 00:14

There's a lot more money to be made from Israel than Palestine.
why?

TornFromTheInside · 14/08/2018 00:16

From selling arms to 'defend' itself.

TornFromTheInside · 14/08/2018 00:17

18bn USD's worth

My2favboys · 14/08/2018 00:17

I know ginghambox imagine believing that if anyone speaks out against a country who believe they have the right to just take land from other people with force is completely against a whole religion instead of just being against the people committing the acts. nuts

Havabiscuit · 14/08/2018 00:18

ginghambox
Who are you boxing up as momentum? Not me I hope

Havabiscuit · 14/08/2018 00:22

torn. Sadly that is probably true, Israel certainly relies on our blind eye. Interfering in UK politics though? Imagine the fury if Muslims were telling us criticism of Iran was islamaphobic

ginghambox · 14/08/2018 00:23

against a whole religion
What does that men?

ginghambox · 14/08/2018 00:24

*mean

TornFromTheInside · 14/08/2018 00:25

She means being against the acts of a nation doesn't mean you're against its religion - Judaism in this case.

Havabiscuit · 14/08/2018 00:26

It’s pretty simple ginghambox. Criticism of Israel is not the same as being critical of Jewish religion. Although some Jewish organisations would like to make it so.
