So there is a thread about TV characters and it got me thinking. So AIBU to ask what movie really makes you cry?
The Green Mile. The moment when Tom Hanks says "We love you. Can you feel that?"
Sad

@beyondradicalisationportal - United 93. I was broken after that. I almost expected them to overpower the terrorists and take control of the plane, but they didn't, and that's when you realise it isn't Hollywood, it's real life.

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 19:40

This is an old one
The song of Bernadette

Hombre · 11/08/2018 19:42

Beyondradicalisation the 9/11 plane film is United 93. It's an incredible movie. I saw it at the pictures and ended up gripping the seat in front of me, crying. A fair few of the people in the control room played themselves, did you know? Now that's testifying.

Hombre · 11/08/2018 19:43

Xpost with you Hooli.

StarsHollow123 · 11/08/2018 19:43

The fault in our stars and PS I love you. I was a wreck at ps I love you so turned it off Galway through. Must watch it again sometime when I'm not so hormonal

arranfan · 11/08/2018 19:48

Far too many and they include those of PPs.

I've given up going to the cinema and can only watch films at home.

kierenthecommunity · 11/08/2018 19:48

Bit of a strange choice as it’s supposed to be a comedy (and most of it is hilarious) but some parts of Full Monty

Bruce Jones audition ‘I was desperate’

When Gerald breaks down ‘they was my job you bastards’

Lomper at the band rehearsal all glum after his mum dies and they play the stripper song to make him smile

Gary ‘I like yer kid. I love you’

Dave ‘who’s want to see a fat bastard like me?’ Jean ‘I would’ 😩

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 19:48

Goodbye Mr Chips with Robert Donat in it
Also
Random Harvest with Greer Garson & Ronald Colman

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 11/08/2018 19:49

Kramer vs Kramer

The Way We Were

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 19:50

Oh yes the way we were .....sob

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 19:51

While we are at it
The Glenn Miller story

sproodlemummy · 11/08/2018 19:59

Australia
Sobbed uncontrollably when the little boy was taken away as he was shouting for Mrs Boss and Nicole Kidman was saying that she will come & find him.

SevenOf1981 · 11/08/2018 20:02

Monsters inc. when sulky sees that Mike has rebuilt Boo's door. His face lights up. How they captured the pure delight in an animated character is beyond me.
I cried a lot.

Also had to be removed from the cinema as a 5 year old when they found ET in the river. I was inconsolable!

arranfan · 11/08/2018 20:12

The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter

They Shoot Horses Don't They

I agree with so many of those mentioned by PPs - I didn't see the above mentioned. There are just too many films that I can't watch again.

ShowOfHands · 11/08/2018 20:14

I cry at nothing. Never well up. Except during Brokeback Mountain. It broke me. I adore the book and the film just took the beauty of it and magnified it. My heart broke for Jack and Ennis and I still can't think about it without feeling fractured.

irregularegular · 11/08/2018 20:31

I watched Goodbye Christopher Robin last night. Didn't feel like anything too heavy and thought it would be a nice little film. OMG did I cry.

And Leon.

irregularegular · 11/08/2018 20:33

Lion. Not Leon.

Tistheseason17 · 11/08/2018 20:34

I'm having a little cry reading this thread and being reminded of the films that make me snot sob.

Had a cry earlier over the football clip of, "to me, to you" at Rotherham to honour the Chuckle brother who passed away. The younger brother was there, proper throat burgled moment.

irregularegular · 11/08/2018 20:37

Mamma Mia 2 however did not even come close to raising a tear. It is just silly fun!

Ozil10 · 11/08/2018 20:37

This is going to sound pretty pathetic, but I just watched Love, Simon and from about 45mins in I was crying and never stopped. By the end scenes with the big event tears were streaming.

Bit too close to home for me, but a great fil

imnotreally · 11/08/2018 20:38

I ugly cried at the end of Mission Impossible Fallout. And not at anyone dying either. I also can't watch the end of Guardians of the Galaxy 2 without sobbing 🤷🏻‍♀️

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 11/08/2018 20:40

The end of Toy Story 3

I start crying at a certain point in Return of the King and don't stop til the credits

ConciseandNice · 11/08/2018 20:44

Dancer In the Dark. I literally sob when she’s getting executed an it cuts to her son watching. Oh God, I’m starting to cry now!!

CSIblonde · 11/08/2018 20:45

Mockingbird don't Sing. True story of Susan Wiley, kept tied to a chair till age 12. Rescued, then used as research tool by her Psychiatrist who took her into his home. He then dumped her in Care system when they wouldn't give him more £ as his 'research' was none existent.
