So there is a thread about TV characters and it got me thinking. So AIBU to ask what movie really makes you cry?
The Green Mile. The moment when Tom Hanks says "We love you. Can you feel that?"
Sad

I wasn’t able to cry watching PS I Love You as my DH kept slagging off Gerard butler’s oirish accent. Really spoiled the effect.

MaMisled · 11/08/2018 17:03

Bridges of Madison County but more so, Mamma Mia when she sings Slipping Through My Fingers. My 2 incredible DCS were growing up too fast!

MrTrebus · 11/08/2018 17:05

Two new ones for you

Extremely loud and incredibly close (Tom Hanks)

And

Remember me (Robert pattinson)
Also bridges of Madison county dumbo up etc etc I love them all but these2 are newer but both good.

ZanyMobster · 11/08/2018 17:08

Yes Remember Me was really sad too, I just cry at everything it seems

MrTrebus · 11/08/2018 17:11

Omg someone mentioned reign over me. Amazing film. Honestly anything to do with 9/11 just proper gets me.

PrivateParkin · 11/08/2018 17:12

It's A Wonderful Life (all of it, but mainly the bit where George is in Martini's bar: "Lord, I'm not a praying man but if you're up there and you can hear me... ") such a dark film in a lot of ways.

Summertime, the bit where Katharine Hepburn is leaving beautiful Venice - and the even more beautiful Rossano Brazzi, and he tries to give her the gardenia Sad

Glad to see Goodbye, Mr Chips (the original) on here too. A total tear-jerker.

boomboo · 11/08/2018 17:20

The English Patient
Up ( the start)
Ghost

BeyondRadicalisationPortal · 11/08/2018 17:24

The 9/11 one about the plane that crashed in the field - can't remember the name (apologies, my memory is shocking). And the firefighter one with Nick Cage...

Basically any film, tv show, book or video game (yes I've even cried at them) where anyone dies will make me cry. Blush

Boglin · 11/08/2018 17:25

Mamma Mia (first one) had me ugly crying the other week so I'm quite relieved to see I wasn't the only one but at the same time quite nervous now about going to see Mamma Mia 2 next week at the cinema, given how many mentions that has had! Will go prepared!

I'm hearing some odd things lately. "My bad" being one

"My bad" has been around for years, first heard it in Buffy in the 90s Grin

Forgot "To Sir with Love" the song is played a lot on the radio station at work at the weekend and I have to get 'busy' to stop thinking about the film Grin

Lotsandlots · 11/08/2018 19:33

Never Let Me Go, with Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan. Such a sad, sad film. I remember after I watched it for the first time I was an absolute wreck.

Also, Titanic and Lion.

TruJay · 11/08/2018 19:33

Green Mile
Shawshank
Benjamin Button
Titanic
The Colour Purple
Schindler’s List
Loads more...

Same as a pp, Coco killed me 😢 and Up at the beginning when she loses her baby, always gets me, we lost our 2nd so it just gets me in the gut when she’s sat in the garden

Hooli · 11/08/2018 19:35

@MaddieElla - yes! Someone else has seen it! Really made me question the 'traditional' and 'acceptable' ways that we're supposed to grieve. Such a good film.

Also, Good Will Hunting when Robin Williams tells him it's not his fault - waaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

I re-watched 'Who will love my children' recently and it's a terrible terrible film, I was so fucking mad at her waste of space alcoholic husband.

TruJay · 11/08/2018 19:35

@ArseHair God yes, My Sister’s Keeper!!

Magpiemagpie · 11/08/2018 19:36

I watched Turner & Hooch last night for the first time with my nieces
Bawled my eyes out when poor Hooch died
