So there is a thread about TV characters and it got me thinking. So AIBU to ask what movie really makes you cry?
The Green Mile. The moment when Tom Hanks says "We love you. Can you feel that?"
Sad

Ozil10 I watched Love Simon recently & cried too was a lovely film.

I haven’t read the whole thread so apologies if already mentioned. Mine is 50 first dates. It’s supposed to be a comedy but I absolutely went into hysterical crying the first time I watched it as she loses her memory every day and has to wake up and watch a video to remind her she has a husband and kids. It has a really bad effect on me. As I am a massive Adam Sandler fan I thought it must have been a bad time of the month or whatever so I have tried to watch it since but I can’t. I end up crying through most of it as I know what’s coming and hysterical at the end so I have to just avoid it. “Up” also makes me cry but I think there more expected.

Many of these make me cry.

Mine was Pan’s Labyrinth. Big, snotty tears all the way home on the bus. It really got to me.

Beaches

Hooli, yes I felt the same about United93. I was willing them to overpower the terrorists and get the plane down safely, my knuckles were white from gripping... and it was all in vain. Horrific. Brave, brave people and how I wished there could be a 'do over' and a different outcome for them. :(

I haven't seen a lot of the films on this list, going to investigate 'UP' now. It's a children's programme, isn't it? Must be brave... Shock

"Neverending Story" when the horse is in the marsh of sadness...

FairyDogMother11 · 11/08/2018 22:07

My DP has form for making me watch terrible films so I am often dubious when he suggests something but he made me watch Hacksaw Ridge and I sobbed my heart out, an amazing film made even more amazing by the fact it's based on a true story. I actually couldn't cope with how strong he was and how determined he was and how much he believed in something. I'm welling up a little now Grin

ET
Watership Down
Ice Age (forget which one, the one where the little boy has to say bye to the animals and go back to the humans)

Anything involving bad things happening to animals/aliens :(

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 11/08/2018 22:11

'I, Daniel Blake'... I cried at the foodbank scene and didn't really stop but was howling by the end of the film, so, so sad.

Did it ever really make a difference or was it just 'of the moment'? :(

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 22:15

Anyone see Window to the sky aka The Other Side of the Mountain
I cried so much I jerked all the row of seats in the cinema

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 22:17

I know it isn't a film but the last episode of Blackadder goes forth , I am starting now

ChristmasFluff · 11/08/2018 22:18

Loads of 'normal' films like Up, Beaches etc, but my husband at the time was completely mystified and a little embarrassed at me sobbing all the way through Bram Stoker's Dracula. Twice.

And after Zulu, I only have to hear a hint of 'Men of Harlech' and I'm in bits.

I'm a real cryer, but I spent most of Titanic (from the point the ship started to sink) trying not to laugh. Naff emotional manipulation that was too obvious for me to care.

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 22:18

Also Black Beauty, happy ending but Boy oh boy it is sad.

Mrsmadevans · 11/08/2018 22:20
