Tangofandango · 08/08/2018 19:49

OP are you going to a SW group? If you are you should've had syns etc explained to you

CarlyDamato · 08/08/2018 19:56

I’ve started doing slimming world this week, I feel like I’m eating healthily, but I’m still full and satisfied (for now).

Today I’ve had:

Breakfast
Tomatoes
Bacon
Poached egg

Snack
Banana

Lunch
Huge salad
Salmon
0% Greek yoghurt with berries and honey

Dinner
Chicken
Vegetables
A few potatoes

Snack
Few almonds

I’ve also had 2 litres of water and about 100ml skimmed milk in tea today.

I might even have a gin and tonic as the only syn I’ve had is the honey.

Forget the muller lights and fill up on fruit and veg!

Glumglowworm · 08/08/2018 19:57

Fill up on veg (cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas, cucumber, pepper and carrot sticks are good for snacking) and lean protein.

1/3 of every meal should be speed food (most, but not all, fruit and veg) because it fills you up for not many calories.

Mullerlights won’t fill you up but they’re alright if you want a sweet taste

Methe · 08/08/2018 20:00

There’s quite a lot of food there and no vegetables. What do you normally eat when you’re not SW?

Muller lights are shit food. Put the rest of them in the bin and eat some carrot sticks or something instead.

ShastaBeast · 08/08/2018 20:02

I’m doing a meal replacement diet so that sounds like a lot to me right now. I wonder if it’s the carb/sugar cravings getting to you, which includes the fruit. I have had three packs of 200 calorie ‘meals’ plus two coffees, I’ll have a low carb dinner when DH gets home. But I’m not hungry and suspect it’s due to it being low ish sugar/carb and high protein. I’ll be back to proper low carb once I reach my target (7lb to go). SW sounds very confusing.

Shednik · 08/08/2018 20:04

I hate slimming world. Always starving on a low fat diet. Low carb high fat is the answer imo

KittyVonCatsworth · 08/08/2018 20:12

I wouldn’t be able to move after all that! I do think though that after only a week in your stomach might not have had the chance to shrink...I’m willling to be told that that’s a pile of auld shite though 😂 it took ages for me to mentally and physically adapt my eating and portion sizes.

Today I’ve had:
Breakfast: Banana and a very rare mug of coffee with semi skimmed milk
Lunch: salad with chicken and half an avocado, no dressing and a cup of green tea
Dinner: salad with one salmon fillet, about 8 king prawns, the other half of the avocado and a tablespoon of rainbow coleslaw (normally it’s a chicken fillet with veg and sweet potato)

I’ve also drank about 2l water with my food and throughout the day which makes me feel quite full.

Singlenotsingle · 08/08/2018 20:16

The toast is not good. Have full English, grilled bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes with baked beans and egg fried in Fri-light.

The chicken, potato and salad is ok

Dinner is a plate of either salad or veggies with home made burgers (5% fat). Fruit any time you're hungry. Apples, pears, oranges, melon...

Almostthere15 · 08/08/2018 20:17

As many have said, step away from the mullet lights. I think a more substantial breakfast is the way to go.

Try looking up fopperholic on social media, she does some useful 'what I eat in a day' posts and the breakfast is always significant. I used to make baked oats which were lovely and I could take them into work if needed. If you like morning toast then maybe add beans (or egg and mushrooms). Speed foods are really important, if you're filling a third of your plate with them you get to eat much more variety and feel fuller ime.

I don't know why they called them 'Syns' because it makes you think you can't have them, but actually everyone i know who has lost and kept it off does eat (or drink) them.

SW doesn't suit everyone, but I lost three stone (and keep 2.5 of it off most of the time) and I know that when I'm paying attention to it the whole family eat better because it prioritises veg and fruit. It is possible to get stuck in a mullet light/tweak/5 mug shots a day/full English mentality tho which is a clear drawback of the plan, and some consultants push these kind of foods because they are popular. I'm not sure eating that way does anyone any favours in the long run though.

EyUpOurKid · 08/08/2018 20:25

Glycemic Index diet. It's just about changing the way you see food.

FromNowOn · 08/08/2018 20:28

If I don’t use my syns I don’t lose weight. Use them! Also make sure a third of your plate is speed food.

delphguelph · 08/08/2018 20:28

Going camping next week so

^^

God don't read that camping thread in AIBU

Have you thought about LCHF?

Botanicbaby · 08/08/2018 20:29

You’re only a week in and the “diet is going on pause” as you’re camping next week? Why not approach it like more of a healthy eating plan for life and make adaptations next week, you don’t have to fall back to your old ways.
I tried sw, it wasn’t for me as I didn’t enjoy the group. I cook everything from scratch & wouldn’t touch muller lite or fry lite if you paid me. Why not have omelette or scrambled eggs for breakfast, or porridge. Also can’t you eat earlier than DP if he will be late? Good luck.

FromNowOn · 08/08/2018 20:32

For breakfast I have bran flakes with berries on top and a bit of milk. I’ve stopped eating butter.

LEMtheoriginal · 08/08/2018 20:36

I like porrige i might go for tgat instead of toast.

Already read the camping threads - i love camping but its all about the bacon !! Will also be walking loads so will eat as i feel.

I think its breakfast where the fail lies

It's the sweeteners in the Muller's making you hungry. They are shit and full of sugar.

Try to do SW clean, without the bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, and 'free' junk.

And if you think you're hungry, try exante. I made a beautiful fish pie yesterday but couldn't have any :(

00100001 · 08/08/2018 21:18

EIGHT ALMONDS?

That wouldn't satisfy a sparrow Grin

I can't have nuts, because I could eat a while 500g bag and still not feel full

Ethylred · 08/08/2018 21:23

It's natural to be hungry.
It's natural to be horny. But you don't see many posts on Mumsnet
from people desperate for a shag complaining that George Clooney
won't meet their needs RIGHT NOW.

Benandhollysmum · 08/08/2018 21:28

ANother week and your stomach will shrink and you won’t be craving food so much

I found eating a banana and a light spread of Nutella gets through the chocolate cravings plus fills you up..
Drink plenty of ice cold water when cravings get really bad, sometimes we mistake hunger for thirst..and last tip- brush teeth when hungry, it’s installed in you to brush teeth when you go to bed so your body knows you won’t get hungry then cause your teeth is clean..

Auntpetunia2015 · 08/08/2018 21:28

Not enough protein or speed. Breakfast add egg mushrooms tomatoes. Ham apple grapes as snack and lots more veg with meals. Drink your water and use your syns 15 or so a day are there to be used and will help.
I snack on pickles ham boiled eggs Cherry tomatoes. Skip the muller light have natural youghurt with lots of fruit.

bluerunningshoes · 08/08/2018 21:33

IT'S OK TO FEEL HUNGRY

sorry for shouting, but you are supposed to feel hungry for about an hour before mealtime. it's normal and healthy and there is nothing wrong with you for feeling hungry.
up the veg. 'roughage' to fill you up without adding too many calories.

FromNowOn · 08/08/2018 21:35

I found the first couple of weeks are really hard. Once you’re on it and have got past the sugar cravings and have worked out in your head why you’re doing it’s actually ok.

chocolatespiders · 08/08/2018 21:38

Aldi pack of four fat free greek style yogs are free and lovely.
I am week three and after an amazing half stone start this week I have been awful.

Shaboohshoobah1 · 08/08/2018 21:42

‘An apple for speed’? What does that mean? They make you run fast?
