To want to try a different approach?

As a bit of a back story DH and I have a 3yr old son and started ttc March 2015 for our next one. So far nothing has happened for us and we have tried a lot of things to help us. Been to the gp and referred to a gynaecologist to advise. From that we have been given tests, I've had surgery, advised on stopping caffeine, sugar, alcohol, neither of us smoke so that's not an issue.

A friend told me to seek older medicine though and that a Chinese herbalist and more natural approach would work better. I went to see one on Monday and they have agreed they could help. I'm fact she started the appt by looking at me first to then tell ME what I was there for. The issue is though that they need to treat us both at the same time and DH is not really on board. He's super skeptic and thinks they're all just shams out for your money.

AIBU to want him to just try with me? We have tried everything else and I just need him to try.

I've tried telling my mum that and she replied with "guess that's just one more thing you've let us down with" and "don't be stupid you're clearly doing it wrong. A drunk teenager can get pregnant without even trying so you're not doing it right obviously

Oh ouch, you poor thing! In which case, her opinion has no value whatsoever and I think you need to let comments like that wash over you which I know is easier said than done.

And, as other posters have said, happiness is not defined by the size of a family. Most only children will probably go through the "I want a sibling" stage but I don't imagine it lasts forever.

Either way, get your life back off hold and start living for the now, not the might be. Good luck Flowers

@bananafish81 I had problems as a child not producing my own growth hormone and I was on HRT for theee years (15-18) before finally starting my periods at 20yra old and growing to the impressive height of 5ft2. By the time I reached 27 my periods had stopped almost and I was looking at maybe one a year. After asking for help from various drs I was put back on HRT to try and get them started again and within two months I was pregnant. I have mentioned this to drs and they have said there's no evidence that this is what caused me to get pregnant.

Sorry I'm going against the grain here but acupuncture worked really well me.
Also have you tried researching supplements? Coq10 is a great one, as is making sure you have good levels of vit d and a high quality fish oil.
Not sure what men need to do but wheatgrass shots I think???
Have you read zita west book??
Obviously none of this is proven but it may work for you, you've nothing to lose!!
Good luck!!

At a wedding and someone has told me they have the easiest way to cure us and make a baby! DH needs to play more golf and I need to have half a Guinness a week 😄

Not the one I had but I can't recommend supplements and acupuncture enough.
Granted I had no fertility issues but age was not on my side and egg quality was declining.

However, my neighbour was 28 trying for 3 years and when she and her partner followed the required supplements she got pregnant pretty quickly with a healthy boy.

The coq10 is particularly amazing, it all depends what your issue is. Where in the country are you??

You need an acupuncturist who specialises in fertility.
Mine was awesome a lot of ivf clinics also have an acupuncturist available.

The herbs aren't recommended with ivf but if still trying naturally I think ok but don't quote me on that one.

I had ivf as a single woman, forgot to mention that!!

stressedtiredbuthappy · 09/08/2018 20:45

Oh and thyroid , that's a big one .
Lots of gps are shit at that but it's really important.
If you had hormone issues as a child could you maybe see an endocrinologist privately?

chocolateaddicted · 09/08/2018 22:09

Can you just do something like that @stressedtiredbuthappy. Like google one online and make an appt?

Reading through what you have put OP DEFINETELY try acupuncture. I know it doesn’t work for some but it does work for a lot of people with the same issues you are having. There is the British Accupuncture Council which could be a good starting point for you. I’ll try and attach a link. I was lucky that I was recommended my lady who is amazing. If you want to PM me I can give more details if you are based near me.

You'd probably need a referral, badger your gp there's no reason for them not to.
Or you could try booking an appointment without them if you're paying they may see you!
Persistence will be key!

Iheartmarite I think you are totally wrong in saying Chinese medicine is a load of bollocks.

Sorry, I can support this. I had secondary infertility and it was a male factor. I saw a naturopath of work d with us both for three months. She was amazing and yes I did get pregnant.

Do your research, be informed and ask your husband to do his own reading too.

@Mrsjones17 my Dad has just said he has two people he goes to for acupuncture (I never ever knew this till now!) and they worked wonders. His was pain for an injury and dealing with his cancer treatment side effects though. Both are on the list from the website so I've messaged both and will see what they say.

To everyone that said Clomid needs to be monitored I have spoken to the hospital and they said because I am on 50mg that doesn't need to be monitored because the dose is only low. I asked about the lining situation and they said that this will be checked only on the second and third try of Clomid if they need to increase it and that an appointment will be sent in due course.

Ok. So this gave a mixed response (from hearing what I wanted to hear in both sides). I have found an acupuncturist from the link below and he has booked me in for a consultation with absolutely no obligation to do anything.
