Husbands bought a hoover he knew I didn't like

Fully prepared to be told I'm BU, but need to hear opinions. My husband decided
We needed a new hoover today, he went off and a new top of the range cordless Dyson, to replace our old Dyson. I hate the old one and said to him I would never have bought a new one. He said he knew that.

Is it me, or is that really disrespectful Only a hoover I know, but I seem to compromise on everything we buy for the house, and he's just pissed me off.

Meh. Dont like it, dont use it. He will hopefully think again on unilateral decisions now all the vaccing up is left to him.

LEMtheoriginal · 05/08/2018 20:23

Omg ltb

LEMtheoriginal · 05/08/2018 20:24

We have a cordless dysonat work it is monumentally shit

MikeUniformMike · 05/08/2018 20:24

YABU. It's his dyson and he does all the vacuum cleaning, why are you complaining?

qwerty2018 · 05/08/2018 20:25

I would leave him 😂

brizzledrizzle · 05/08/2018 20:25

Simple answer, refuse to use it - what's your problem? Grin

Isleepinahedgefund · 05/08/2018 21:48

He is obviously offering to do all the hoovering.

IceCreamFace · 05/08/2018 21:50

like PP said I think it's very generous of him to do all the hoovering - count your blessings!

Leeds2 · 05/08/2018 21:54

His Hoover to use as he wishes, I think.

TheFaerieQueene · 05/08/2018 21:57

Throw it out of the window, accidentally obviously! 🤣

fraggle84 · 05/08/2018 21:59

I’m envious, would love a cordless dyson! I’ve got a Miele Cat & dog and hate it!

Mum2jenny · 05/08/2018 21:59

He chose it, he uses it, simple.

He wants you to vacuum, you choose one you want else he has to do it forever and a day until the one he chose breaks.

thenorthernsinner · 05/08/2018 22:00

Complete overreaction a hoovers a hoover they all do the same thing at the end of the day.

cameltoeflappyflapflap · 05/08/2018 22:01

Take it back

Botanicbaby · 05/08/2018 22:02

Big purchases for items that you both use should be agreed mutually. So yes it’s disrespectful if he went against your opinion. Did both of you use the vacuum cleaner previously? I’d let him crack on with using the new purchase on his own if so. Win win Smile

slovenlys · 05/08/2018 22:03

I love my cordless dyson

Take it back and get something else?

Starlight345 · 05/08/2018 22:03

Ask him to take it back and get a shark

CoconutAmericano · 05/08/2018 22:05

Yes, return for a Shark or Miele. Both great. Dyson are shite.

BadderWolf · 05/08/2018 22:07

Oh god yes, his chore his choice no problem. My DH is King of the Vacuuming here and will get 100% choice. I haven't vacuumed in years come to think of it. All good here Grin

Stephwiththecurls · 05/08/2018 22:12

YABVU to dislike the top of the range cordless dyson. I’d get it if I could afford it!

Seriously though yes I do think it’s disrespectful if he knows you don’t like it and you are both going to use it. Even more so if you are going to be using it more often.

My dad does this to my mum all the time. It pisses me off.

BrokenWing · 05/08/2018 22:14

I sent dh out to buy a vacuum once (Ours just died, we had guests coming over, a moulting labrador, 1/2 of hair on the carpet and I couldn't get to a shop). Dyson Lightball, plastic and useless, especially on dog hair and stairs. Bought another new one within 3 months.

BishopBrennansArse · 05/08/2018 22:14

Oh good. He's doing the vacuuming now then, forever. Yay!

Planesmistakenforstars · 05/08/2018 22:16

That sounds brilliant, because it looks like he's going to be doing all the hoovering from now on

VimFuego101 · 05/08/2018 22:17

DH did this (he also picked a Dyson which he knew I hated). I've never hoovered since.

CocoaGin70 · 05/08/2018 22:18

Just refuse to use it. And don't back down. Ever.

DH decided on a whim to rearrange the kitchen cupboards one day when I was at work. Bearing in mind he never cooks, or helps cook but he knew where everything would be best.

Four days of me not cooking, it soon all went back Grin.
