I got myself measured for the first time today. I have been wearing a 34A basically my whole life. Apparently my back size (not sure if that’s is the correct term!) is 27 but the lady advised I would probably find a 28 too tight so to go for a 30. After trying a few on she told me to go for a 30D for plunge/t-shirt styles and a 30C for balconette styles. Does anyone else have to get different sizes for different styles? My friend thought it was weird the assistant suggested that! I can’t believe I have been wearing the completely wrong size Flowers

I got measure for new maternity bras today and I am 38E!

LoniceraJaponica · 05/08/2018 14:44

Where? M and S?

SirVixofVixHall · 05/08/2018 15:01

@olderthanyouthink the Deco doesn’t fit me at all. The problem with moulded bras like deco is that they only fit if you are just the right shape. So they either work really well or they are a disaster. I can’t remember how the deco didn’t fit me, but the cups on Freya bras aren’t particularly close together usually, they are too wide apart for me for instance. Ewa and other Polish brands have cups that have no gap for the central gore, the wires can be overlapped in Comexim bras if you ask, so if you need a wide central gore then they may not work for you. Worth looking at sites like bratabase, or other blog reviews, to find bras for women a similar shape to you. You could try a Ewa M. The BM style has the most capacity in the cups, the padded styles come up about half a cup size smaller, depending on style. The SM is unpadded but slightly smaller than the BM in the cup. I’ve put weight on and I can just about fit into my BM styles but all my SM styles are too small. I find the BM a really good everyday bra but the SM are more delicate and pretty. I don’t often wear a padded bra but I have a few.

32 A but I'm tiny all over. Still would love to be a bit bigger tho Sad

dementedpixie · 05/08/2018 15:11

If you are tiny all over then you're unlikely to need a 32 back bra. What dress size are you?

Melstarrynight · 05/08/2018 15:26

30gg. I love bravissimo, especially the satine bra.

Roominmyhouse · 05/08/2018 15:39

I have been wearing a 36DD/E for years. Bob or bust said I should try a 32JJ as my starting size but I’ve found a 34G actually fits me best in Freya and curvy Kate bras. I definitely feel more supported and uplifted in my new size!

olderthanyouthink · 05/08/2018 15:45

@SirVixofVixHall thanks! I'all have a look at what fits like the ones I've got (and like)

ShowerGel9 · 05/08/2018 16:42

Dementedpixie

I am size 8/10 if the pants are on the small side.

I have always bought a 32 A I think...and the cups are too big. What size should I get ?! Haha

dementedpixie · 05/08/2018 16:43

What's your under bust and over bust measurements in inches?

Blondie1993 · 05/08/2018 16:47

Thanks for all the replies, sorry don’t know how to reply individually! So many amazing boobs on mumsnet! It was Boux Avenue I was measured in yesterday. I bought a plunge ultra boost bra and a balconette bra but after trying them on at home, the balconette just didn’t suit me. Decided to take it back today and get measured again just to be on the safe side before I splashed out on anymore! I went to John Lewis and they said 28DD which did make my boobs look amazing but felt too tight for me. Went back to Boux Avenue (different shop) and they said basically the same as the girl yesterday. One of my boobs is slightly smaller than the other apparently too Blush. I quite like a bra that gives me some cleavage and the ultra boost one was really comfy so I think i’ll see how I get on with that for a while (I bought 3 Blush)

Amazing the difference it makes, my bras have always been quite uncomfortable - they ride up, gape at the top and i just generally have sore boobs until I take it off. I just assumed because I have quite small boobs there was no point in getting measured but hey ho! Strange, I have the exact same boobs as yesterday but I feel like I’ve had a boob job lol Grin

Demented I will measure in a bit. Thanks...Smile

ShowerGel9 · 05/08/2018 16:52

In inches or cm?

n0ne · 05/08/2018 16:53

@olderthanyouthink this is one of the ones I got - 24 quid! www.amazon.co.uk/Mama-Alles-Womens-Nursing-Beige/dp/B00KNP0FXY

Sandstormbrewing · 05/08/2018 17:03

Before boob or bust I was a 34b. I'm now a 30g but it's very dependent on the style and shop.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 05/08/2018 17:04

30E which is a bloody faff to find in shops.

I used the boob or bust method. When I went to try bras on I thought I surely couldn’t be an E cup, there’s nothing left of them after having my kids, but I had to keep sizing up the cups until I tried the E.

I like the bra stop website for finding cheaper bras in unusual sizes. I’ve been recommending both the boob or bust and bra stop websites to all the women I know now!

Scrolblewomp · 05/08/2018 17:04

30C after 2x children

Groovee · 05/08/2018 17:06

32FF. That's from a 40GG. I find it harder to find bras but bravissimo fit me.

Cachailleacha · 05/08/2018 17:38

I can't figure out Boob or Bust, I can fit two fingers under the back no matter how tight I have it. Also, I can take a breath right? Because I will need to breathe when I am wearing a bra.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/08/2018 17:43

I think the two fingers thing is the fingers stacked ,as in you can pull the band by about an inch, rather than side by side, which is more like a cm.

SirVixofVixHall · 05/08/2018 17:44

Anyway I think absolute rules are silly, as bodies vary. So the band should be snug enough to stay level all around and not ride up at the back, but not so tight that you notice it and feel horribly compressed.

GetThisBabyOut · 05/08/2018 17:57

What size I wear varies massively by brand and style.

Pre pregnancy I wore a 28E or F approximately but also had a couple of polish bras in a 26GG and the occasional 30E in non-stretchy bands.

Currently (37 weeks pregnant) I have bras in a 30H, 32G, 32GG, 34F and 34FF. My ribs haven’t actually spread that much and I’d imagine my true size currently is in the 30H/32GG region but I’ve found myself wearing some brands that fit very differently and have been wanting to be a bit less restricted than usual.

olderthanyouthink · 05/08/2018 18:33

Thanks @n0ne I that's one of the ones that I clicked on because it doesn't look like nursing bra!
