I got myself measured for the first time today. I have been wearing a 34A basically my whole life. Apparently my back size (not sure if that’s is the correct term!) is 27 but the lady advised I would probably find a 28 too tight so to go for a 30. After trying a few on she told me to go for a 30D for plunge/t-shirt styles and a 30C for balconette styles. Does anyone else have to get different sizes for different styles? My friend thought it was weird the assistant suggested that! I can’t believe I have been wearing the completely wrong size Flowers

30f and 28 g in bikinis. I find it really irritating that those people (us lot!) have to buy bras from one or two suppliers at more expense. I know there’s sales etc but generally each full price bra will be £30+ just to get the size we need. And yes, the range has dramatically increased over the past five years but even so...I’d just like to wander into a high st store and pick up a pretty bra for £10-15 like my smaller boobed friends!

lljkk · 04/08/2018 22:37

34D. Every fitting said I was 34D for last 30 yrs. Deep breath makes me swell up to 35.5D.

YupThatsMe · 04/08/2018 22:38

@Echobelly It is awkward. I'm a 30G and can't buy from simple places like supermarkets anymore. It has to be £30+ bras. Confused

Scifi101 · 04/08/2018 22:38

Jenny blue wren

Which company are you using for your made to measure bra and how much do they cost?

Cachailleacha · 04/08/2018 22:38

I wear a 34B, I think I should be a 32C, but I would feel too self conscious if they looked any more obvious. I'm thinking about getting some sports bras instead.

bellsbuss · 04/08/2018 22:39

30FF , thought I was a 32DD

HistoriaTrixie · 04/08/2018 22:41

40E. I miss my pre-kids life when I could just buy "normal" sized bras off the rack in shops.

LoniceraJaponica · 04/08/2018 22:42

What dress size are you, and what is your underbust measurement PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks?

I am a 32B Sad

lljkk · 04/08/2018 22:47

I'd love to be B cup. Or A, even. A would be bliss. Putting my bra on is like plugging my brain in. Can't function without.

ColinKnocksTwoPence · 04/08/2018 22:49

32G.
I recently lost some weight and have come down from a 34G but sadly not lost much off the boobs themselves.
I hate having big boobs and would happily have them reduced if I had the money.

haverhill · 04/08/2018 22:51

Wore 34B for years and years but Boob or Bust says I’m 32E! I’m actually wearing 34DD which is fairly comfy.

PlaymobilPirate · 04/08/2018 22:52

34hh!

tor8181 · 04/08/2018 23:09

40J been this size for years.

i developed early(D cup first bra at 10) and have had very large breasts since 12(DD to F)then been a G since 15 to pregnancy at 23 then at my biggest(enormous pregnancy) i was a 46N then been a J for years now

im not small body wise im a 20/22 on the bottom but need a 24/26 top wide

Ansumpasty · 04/08/2018 23:27

Jesus wept, how come you all have such massive boobs.
I’ve always worn a 32 B. Got measured and they said 30D, which is an absolute joke as I’m pracically flat chested and that 30 band dug in and gave me back fat.

I now wear a 32 C and I wear the same bra every day, because I’m disgusting, and it’s so comfy that it actually feels like I have nothing on. When I lie back at all, there’s just a huge, empty gap next to the massive pad.

30D my ass

bananafish81 · 04/08/2018 23:30

I'd love to be B cup. Or A, even. A would be bliss.

Cup size is meaningless on its own though

A 34A is a sister size (ie same volume of boobage) to 28D.

34A = 32B = 30C = 28D

If I say I wear an A cup that sounds like small boobs

If I say I wear a D cup that sounds like big boobs

Except they're the same size breasts!

dementedpixie · 04/08/2018 23:31

30D has the same cup volume as 32C so not a crazy size at all

RoboJesus · 04/08/2018 23:34

They don't make them in my size so I have to get them specially made or altered :/

DCam06 · 04/08/2018 23:40

Thanks for the inspiration to get measured. I have no idea what size I am I generally get a 36E or sometimes a 38DD if it feels tight. My friends find this mad as I'm not a "big" woman but feel like I do have a large ribcage x

LoniceraJaponica · 04/08/2018 23:41

Ansumpasty MN seems to have a disproportionate number of posters with big boobs.

MayMiracle · 04/08/2018 23:46

34E Bravissimo 34DD lots of other places 36C sometimes. It's difficult getting a swimsuit or bikini, because I'm often bigger on top than bottom 🤷🏽‍♀️

workshyfop · 04/08/2018 23:53

36J

JaceLancs · 04/08/2018 23:55

34G from Bravissimo
I fit better in plunge styles and balcony bras just flatten me
I do wish bras had narrower depth of bands at sides
I’m wearing sleeveless dresses a lot at moment and hate it when you can see my bra through armholes
New look and primark are particularly bad for this

PickAChew · 04/08/2018 23:57

I currently wear bras in 32G, 32GG, 32H, 34F, depending on the brand and how old, stretched and loved it is. Some fit better than others. I have some 30H that I wear when I'm a few lb lighter.

Pinkkahori · 05/08/2018 00:02

38g like a few previous posters.
I needed a bra to go under a dress recently and could only get to marks and Spencer.
I just wanted style advice but the assistant offered to measure me.
I'm sure of my size so I thought what's the harm but she immediately suggested a 42 back.
I know that's way too big so I went and got my own size and ended up with a good fit.

LustyBusty · 05/08/2018 00:08

I think Mumsnet actually has a disproportionate amount of members who have been sized correctly (rather than m&s sizing...)
I am built like a brick shithouse. 6ft tall, never been smaller than a size 16 as an adult, broad shoulders etc etc. I am a 38 back size (measure 39.5cm, but 38 gives best support and 40J is practically impossible to find, but 38JJ is easier..). Size 12 women who are told they are a 34 or 36 back is bullshit. As other pp mentioned 36C = 34D = 32DD and all of a sudden you've gone from "small boobs" to "massive boobs" even though the only thing that's changed is that your boobs are now sitting in the cup with support from the back, rather than the back flapping around, rising up and having divots in your shoulders.
