I've just been a complete twat...

I think, anyway! Not sure now! So I'll put it to the MN jury...and I'll happily apologize, because I have the ability to own my shit.

Chatting to a friend about going out tonight (after the week I've had, I bloody deserve it!)

She started on a massive stretch about me claiming PIP to "piss it up the wall", I obviously need the disposible income, etc, etc. It was really bitchy!

She's made catty comments in the past, but tbh I thought that was down to me- I have a weird sense of humor, and take the piss out of myself all the time. But never like this.

She said that, if I was independant enough to go out alone (I'll be meeting a friend, but eill be making my own way) I shouldn't be claiming Personal INDEPENDANCE Payment, and that "I'm what's wrong with the government atm!

I sent her a REALLY sarky text in reply, but it's made me doubt myself!

I need to calm down...

It's not just about the money tho. For some reason in this country the only way to prove you are disabled is that you are in receipt of PIP or DLA. So to access certain things you need to be on benefits. Bit stupid.

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 10:19

Aye that is stupid, especially given the amount of people turned down for PIP/DLA!

Surely a diagnosis covers it?

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 10:20

I mean where paperwork is needed, not that we should all be waving paperwork at anyone who asks Grin

imnotreally · 14/08/2018 10:28

Nope. Well sometimes a specific letter from a GP will cover it but usually people ask for proof of DLA/PIP

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 10:30

Aye that’s really crap, it’s like we’re constantly being scrutinised. I don’t get PIP, it doesn’t change my diagnosis.

Mind you when XH asked for DS1s letter for DLA so they’d get special treatment for queues and rides on holiday I nearly knocked him out. Because DS1 hates theme parks, can’t cope with even being there let alone going on rides! He knew that, but wanted the form so he didn’t have to queue!! Ugh ugh ugh.

YeTalk that's shit. Then you have hang on the phone for hours trying to sort it out. 😭

imnotreally · 14/08/2018 10:40

😂 my eldest two get dla and I'll use it to get in as a carer places, I.e. the zoo but I don't always let them use it as an excuse for things 😳

Yoksha · 14/08/2018 10:41

Would the OP's twatty friend dare question your XH YeTalkShite? No. She thinks you're an easy target OP to air her ill-founded grievances.

Bye bye XF.

Queenofthestress · 14/08/2018 10:42

We've been awarded DLA until 2025

Fucking hell

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 14/08/2018 10:45

Notanenabler Rad and her friend both work at the same place. Hmm

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 14/08/2018 10:48

And then you have to do it all over again Queen.

My biggest problem with claiming PIP is I think I have to do it over the phone? I hate talking on the phone. Can I do it online?

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 14/08/2018 10:58

Perfectly all I had to give on the phone was my basic info (,name, etc). I then got sent the form.

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 14/08/2018 11:01

My "friend" was pissed ofd becsuse she was basically a benk! You two would get on...

Wanna cupcake? I just had to use a shiteload of eggs up 😂

Queenofthestress · 14/08/2018 12:26

Wasn't expecting to get it for 7 years though, was bit of a shock! My neice only gets 2/3 year awards at a time

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 12:29

Notanenabler oh bore off.

Queen that great!

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 12:30

That’s 🙄 my brain is not working, need more caffeine!

Perfectly ugh I can’t cope with phone calls. Peopling takes too many spoons!
DS1s taxi driver is apparently coming at some point today Hmm clearly they didn’t get the memo that specifics are important!

imnotreally · 14/08/2018 12:43

@Notanenabler she does work.....

What a strange comment.

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 12:45

my eldest two get dla and I'll use it to get in as a carer places, I.e. the zoo but I don't always let them use it as an excuse for things

That’s totally different, that’s exactly what it’s for. XH was planning on using DS1 to queue jump then chuck him out of the queue because he wouldn’t want to go on anything Angry

Using it for the child who actually is entitled to it is what it’s for. Smile

imnotreally · 14/08/2018 12:48

What the heck?! What a twat!

Queenofthestress · 14/08/2018 12:48

Wait, what's this queue thing? :o

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 12:50

imnotreally he really is!!!

Queen some theme parks and attractions have a system where someone in receipt of DLA (not sure if it applies to PIP) too can be “fast tracked” to avoid standing in huge queues and whatnot. XH tried to take the piss though. Sad

imnotreally · 14/08/2018 12:52

@Queenofthestress because kids with asd etc can't always cope with queuing you can at some parks use the dla letter to fast track the queues. You get a special wrist band I think. But some parks are changing their policy to only accept a Gp letter. At £30 a pop.

You can also get special help at some airports but you don't need dla for that.

Queenofthestress · 14/08/2018 13:10

Wish I'd known that instead of DS suffering, he loves the rides (with ear defenders on) he just can't cope with the waiting, too noisey and cramped

YeTalkShiteHen · 14/08/2018 13:12

Queenofthestress it’s not widely known to be fair, but definitely worth checking out next time!

I’m currently jazzing up DS2s new ear defenders. He wants to go to the football, but with 60k of us it gets a bit noisy! It’s grand though, nobody bats an eyelid at anyone in ear defenders, adult or child.

In fact the tag line of our club is “a club for all” its fab!
