To believe that formula companies have PR agents working the BF/FF threads on here?

CocoDeMoll · 02/08/2018 20:53

They are a multi million pound set of companies that are invested in keeping Britain’s low breastfeeding rates down and keeping their profit margins up.

Any positives about breastfeeding seem to be shot down in flames on here.

So much pro formula and anti breastfeeding rhetoric.

They can easily afford to and have the best at the jobs be it lawyers, pr teams or spin doctors on their sides and they’re not exactly renounced for their ethics are they (nestle?!?!).

Or am I just getting a bit tied up in conspiracy therorys? Grin

And also you're not saying it's your opinion though - you're telling us things are "facts" based on 0 evidence except your own experience.

This.

And if anyone countermands your opinion (that you are calling fact) you attack them.

I don't think the people calling you names are the bullies.

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 19:59

Flamingo - how were my posts offensive? If you switched what I said and substituted bf for ff then you wouldn’t have a problem with them. This is the problem with the bf debate. You can say one thing about ff and not the same about bf

For example - I ff my child - I believe it was the best for my child and the optimal source of nutrition- they are so advanced the milks nowadays at least you know they are getting all the nutrients you need. It was hard at first but then it was easy as I could sleep and my partner bond with my child too. People should do it more.

Does this offend you?! This is what needs correcting - let people talk about bf and it’s positives openly. Ff’s can already do that.

Jackieyoulooknice · 05/08/2018 20:04

I think I would be more ashamed if I insulted people who top up with formula. Also would cringe if I resented my children for touching me too much as babies.

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:05

I would absolutely have a problem with someone saying someone ff is putting their baby first and someone bf is not.

"Well yes flamingo - breastmilk is the optimal source of nutrition for a baby - anyone who actively chooses a substandard choice isn’t choosing the best for the child"

this (a quote directly from you) is not the same as this

I ff my child - I believe it was the best for my child and the optimal source of nutrition- they are so advanced the milks nowadays at least you know they are getting all the nutrients you need. It was hard at first but then it was easy as I could sleep and my partner bond with my child too. People should do it more

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 20:05

And everyone who exclusively ff’s at 9 months finds it easy

Does this offend you? Does it make you want to call me offensive names?

Jackieyoulooknice · 05/08/2018 20:06

Yes it's offensive because it's bullshit. Some ff babies are nightmares especially with reflux.

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 20:06

But flamingo - it is a fact - on the nhs webpages etc - breast milk is the optimal source of nutrition for a baby in terms of choices of milk

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 20:07

The act of feeding easy - not parenting easy

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:07

Youare sayinh formla is substandard. In your shit example youre not dauing breastfeeding is substandard you're just singing the praises of formula (which is fine - as it would be for breastmilk)

There is a big difference between sharing the positives of your feeding choice, And calling the other choice "substandard" - no matter which choice you made.

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:08

Parents who don t breastfeed for whatever reason are not making a substandard choice.

Pengggwn · 05/08/2018 20:08

And everyone who exclusively ff’s at 9 months finds it easy

And you know this because...?

You are referring to 'facts' because you find them on the NHS web pages (debatable, but whatever). Where is the above 'fact' from?

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:09

And everyone who exclusively ff’s at 9 months finds it easy

Also offensive because it's bollocks. I am sure there are people who do not.

BlueBug45 · 05/08/2018 20:09

@Redteapot I learnt with different illnesses just because the NHS says something on its webpages it doesn't mean it is totally true, and the truth is actually more nuanced.

Pengggwn · 05/08/2018 20:10

Also offensive because it's bollocks. I am sure there are people who do not.

Of course there are. Red knows this. She is just being nasty.

Weepingangels · 05/08/2018 20:10

I agree the stats are skewed. If you give any formula, even if you have no choice at the beginning then you do not count as ebf. The same as if you give solids a week early or one bottle of formula.

That is why they are skewed. My friend gave a bottle, just one, no inclusion. Exclusive is only.

I know women ebf who did not find it easy. One after a year. Her baby refused to take expressed milk and liked little and often. I know some in the group who had hellish first 2 months then sailed through, others who had hellish after. Not one size fits all.

Most women i know bf to 6 months or to over 1-2. Most were not included in NHS stats as food was given before 6 months or just even a bottle or 2.

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 20:10

Flamingo - you are twisting my words. I never said that. Parents can make the right decision for their child based on their circumstances. For many people formula is absolutely the right choice - on balance of everything.

Peng - keep up dear

PandaPieForTea · 05/08/2018 20:11

Redteapot67

You’ve mentioned that you were presenting your ‘belief’ in subsequent posts, but your initial posts were presented as fact. Again, can’t you see the difference?

Pengggwn · 05/08/2018 20:12

Redteapot67

Keep up with what? Your stream of drivel? It's difficult when something flows so freely.

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:12

I actually just quoted exactly what you said. How am I twisting your words?

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 20:14

Panda - I’ve said two ‘facts’

  1. Breastmilk is the optimal source of nutrition for a baby in terms of which milk to use
  2. Everyone who exclusively breastfeeds at 9 months finds the breastfeeding easy - ie the feeding it’s self not the lack of sleep etc necessarily
flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:14

Well yes flamingo - breastmilk is the optimal source of nutrition for a baby - anyone who actively chooses a substandard choice isn’t choosing the best for the child

So you never said the above? This is not you saying that formula is the right choice for many people. This is you saying it's a substandard choice.

If you're going to paddle this shit on an internet forum at least have the balls to own it.

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 20:14

I stand by these

flamingofridays · 05/08/2018 20:14

2. Everyone who exclusively breastfeeds at 9 months finds the breastfeeding easy

Please can I see the evidence to back up this factm

Pengggwn · 05/08/2018 20:16

2. Everyone who exclusively breastfeeds at 9 months finds the breastfeeding easy - ie the feeding it’s self not the lack of sleep etc necessarily

Data, please.

Redteapot67 · 05/08/2018 20:16

Flamingo - because you missed off the rest of my paragraph that said I wasn’t talking about people who struggled to bf or couldn’t for some reason - I was only talking about people who freely chose formula from birth, not even trying bf, because they believed formula was ‘just as good’ and easier for them.
